Hi Again:

Just an update on the sonbook rating issue...I went into a new book today (thedrawbacks songbook) which was rated 3.3 when I went in.

After viewing a few songs I rated it a 4 out of five, but when I came out it was rated 2.5, and the rating grid stated that I had rated it 0! I think that the system asigns a 0 rating no matter what you enter which would explain why every book is rated so low.

I don't know if it can be done, but I'm assuming that the current ratings are by the *over-all* rating for the songbook itself...would it be possible for ratings to be based on the aggregate rating of all of the songs *within* the songbook?

My songbook is called Tunedeaf's songbook....tunedeaf and unoriginal to boot! lol

You can tell it's mine by all the "Made up Chord" and "Variant Chord" notations.

I don't know if they're really made up chords, but I haven't been able to find them listed anywhere's and I wanted to note them for my own future reference.

Also, I haven't modified all of them yet ( some I like fin e the way they are and some I haven't got to) but the one's I have are pretty easy to pick out...just look for the made up chords!

Wow! What a coincidence! I just did pretty much the same thing...searched songbooks by rating and I had the exact same questions.

I would also appreciate a little more infor on how the songbooks are rated (and not just because mine got such a lousy rating )

Hi Again:

Thanks for the clarification.

I knew that the Chordie site itself did not host songs, but I was unsure as to where my versions of the songs were resident. Your reply makes it seem as if my versions are stored on the original host for the song, which would mean that, should the owner of the originating host decide to clean up his system, ie., clean out all those irritating modified/unknown versions of his original transcription, my versions could be deleted.

Am I close to being right?

Just in case I am, I'm going to try to save my songs locally.

Thanks again

Hi There:

Just wanted to start off by saying what a great thing Chordie has been for me since I discovered it a few months back. While still laughable, my playing has improved dramatically since I've been coming here if for no other reason than the huge amount of songs available. I'll be driving around and hear a song on the radio that I think I'd like to try playing, and sure enough, 99 times out of 100, it's here and in a format I can at least fumble my way through. The huge amount of listings also fits nicely with my short attention span (ooo! there's one I'd like to try! ).

I may never get one perfect, but there are so many to try, I can't help but improve generally simply because I try them all!

My question involves the song books. I have been adding songs to my song book and modifying them to my own playing style. The song book is always available when I'm on line, but I was wondering where it is stored.

I don't have any material stored on-line myself, so it must be elsewhere. I have never seen one of my modifications included with the standard listings, so I'm assuming that my versions stay limited to my songbook. If I were to make my songbook public, would they show up on a search or would someone have to access my songbook to see them?

Anyways, with the assault on tab sites appearing to be gathering steam, it's always gratifying to find Chordie up and running.

Long live Chordie and Thanks for hosting such a valuable resource and learing tool!

Hey! I get to be helpful for once!

The song is "Somewhere Down the Crazy River" by Robbie Robertson. Unfortunately, I can't find it here, but correct name and artist might help elsewhere.

Good Luck

Good Lord! The first forum I check into on this site and I walk straight into a flame war! LOL!

As middle-aged guy who has been around a bit, my guess on Vamp is that he is in actuality, a 14 year old punk who has a number of deep rooted self-esteem issues. If he is indeed an adult, then God help us all and perhaps we should hope that one of our numerous security agencies is monitoring this site. There's a certain "Uni-bomber" quality to his rantings!

Anyways, I've always found that girls/women appreciate the the simple fact that you would even *try* to play a song for them. I haven't met anybody who wasn't flattered by someone making an effort exclusively for them and it's even more flattering if they know that you really had to work at it to get it right. Let's face it, a Guitar God rolling out one of his thousands of tunes may indeed be impressive, but it hasn't got the personal touch of a guy struggling through a tune he's been trying to master for months for no other reason than doing something "special" for the listener.

Anything that's too easy is worthless, effort counts a whole lot more with me than the result.

As for a great love song...Always and Forever by Heatwave.

Let the games resume!
