Wow Pete, I used to play that years ago and somehow it slipped away.. Gotta put that back in the list. Thanks!

Still scrapping with "Little Wing" Don't know how long its gonna take.  Sure wish I could play it like it's Daddy could...

I've had the pleasure of playing a previous version of the CM Classic. The one with the weird angles.  It's a stunningly beautiful guitar.  It sounds and plays like what you would expect in a $7000+ guitar.  It won't ever join my fleet. I can't afford it. But, every once in a great while, it sure is nice to hold something like this..

Ok.  I'm a die-hard Ovation fan.  I have a 1981 Balladeer model 1112. Its a deep body lyra-chord back, sitka spruce top, mahogany neck, ebony fretboard. It is quite possibly one of the best acoustics that I've ever played.  It did not come with electrics but has Fishman pickups in it now.  The acoustic sound is not "muddy". It is crystal clear. Like a bell. The neck belongs on an electric guitar, it is a soft V shape, just like some Fender's you might know.  It is very fast and extremely easy to play.  I paid $500 for it in 1982.  Every once in a while one becomes available on ebay.  Keep an eye out.  Mine has all of the original parts except for a set of frets. Unfortunately, its about time for another set..

G strings and weed eaters.  My how we digress smile I used to break strings like crazy.  Then I read Illusions by Richard Bach. Got a different perspective on that now. Or its the tequila.  Regardless,  make sure all the sharp edges from bridges, nuts, string break angles etc. are removed/ smooth.  Once this in done, if strings continue to break sooner than they should, you might question your  playing style and string gage.

No thank you.  Even if the build and engineering were perfect, I would still have my doubts.  My dog's not in that hunt.  Maybe my dog is old-fashioned but he's still my dog.

Rickdune,  I'm sort of a rookie mandolin player and I've seen ukele players that play that instrument like a lead guitar.  I'm not sure what the rules are.  Same with guitar.. I've been playing those things for decades and honestly, there's some rules and a thousand different ways to play them.

Tequila Sunrise is easy.  All the lead notes are either on the fourth fret, the second fret, or open string.

I notice that in your little picture on the left there, with the fretboard and the verboten symbol, that you've dis-allowed most all of these notes...  smile

Ditto on all of the pro Takamine comments.  Their upper end guitars are great.   I don't own any, but I've played more than a few and they are a fine quality instrument.

I'm working on an acoustic version of Little Wing. It's a tad tricky but I'm not holding to the note-for-note version.  I believe that its important to retain the original theme but in your own style.. So it will be noticeably different without losing recognition.

Fishman SA220 Solo.  35 lbs.. the case has wheels so you can drag it like an airline bag with one hand while you carry your guitar in the other.  Simple.

Wow.. Stairway has got to be in there somewhere but, geez its tough.  There is so much to choose from.  Santana's Europa, SRV's Riveira Paradise,  Where does Iron Butterfly fit into this equation?   How do you not consider Spinal Tap's Big Bottom? Bohemian Rhapsody anyone?  The Who's debut album, My Generation with the title track, plus I Don't Mind (James Brown cover), The Kid's are Alright..  I don't agree with Guitar World's top 5, but they probably wouldn't agree with mine either.  There is so much good stuff to chose from.

Jerome.. I've got your "new" lapsteel,  send me an email.

There is a variant of GAS sometimes called "Gear Acquisition Syndrome" which, of course, applies to all those guitar accessories: Amps, pedals, slides, capos, these strings, those strings,  more amps, more pedals, rack effects, recording devices, dynamic microphones, condensor microphones, pre-amps for the condensor microphones... PA systems.. PA Speakers, subwoofers, divorce court, the list goes on almost forever! smile

I went from playing for/ with groups of friends to playing for tips on the street and finally playing in bars. And for me, when I started playing in bars for a pre-negotiated sum of cash is when I started to get nervous.  Numerous years later, I've learned that almost no one cares who is on the stage or whether anyone is on the stage at all.  Its more fun now.  People that like you will tip you. Or they won't.  Every time is different and very much the same.  Its funny, but  you can say almost any crazy thing into a microphone between songs and everyone will cheer or no one will notice.  Or no one will care.. It's all very odd and I'm the one that ends up being entertained..

Bless their hearts... You know in the South, that's almost a curse.  Like,.. "She had that motor red-lined when she backed out of the driveway and killed her mother-in-law.... Bless her heart.."

As much as I want to agree with your excellent wine/carb argument,  I'm having a hard time getting the wife on board.  She keeps bringing up these annoyingly pesky facts that I have to try to shoot down with an array of distractions shrouded in smoke and mirrors but she has these special goggles that allow her to see through my thickly veiled attempts.  Very annoying.

Wow that bensonp sure has a brass set!   Kidding!  Congrats Zurf keep up the good work.. I'm doing the No-Carb thing myself (read Low Carb). So far its working for me and the missus but I miss the beer and pizza.  On the other hand, I've developed a new appreciation for vodka and gin!  smile
