Re: User songbook search box (7 replies, posted in About Chordie)
Hi Eric,
Did you create it with this account? if so then it should still be in "my songbook" if you click that tab you should get all songbooks you have created, public or private.
If you have created it with a different user name then you could search ofr it through the type it is i.e. campfire songs, easy songs, country songs etc.
There is no search for user name feature in " public books"
if you cannot find it in there then I would say it was not set up as a public folder and you would have to know the user name you used before.

I realize this is an old thread but I had to comment. My grandpa once told me that " If we all liked the same thing, everyone would want to sleep with your grandma." I thought it was great.
pmsl,
Love that one Selso.

well that was a quick reply, lol. and an honest one.
I l;ove food too
I cooked a big meal on Saturday night for 10 folk. Roast lamb with garlic, lemon, corriander, onions and mushrooms, roast pork with apples and onions with mash totties, baby totties, brocolli, carrots, sprouts and a superb gravy.
Then in the morning I cooked them all a big fry up, Squared sliced sausage ( a scottish delicacy) black pudding ( the real stuff from thr isle of skye) potatoe scones, fried eggs, fried mushies, bacon.
Tonight was the first time i have not cooked dinner since thursday, it was good to sit back and let my wife cook for me.

Re: Sex Pistols (7 replies, posted in Bands and artists)
I love the sex pistols.
I know how crap they really were, but ye got to love them for what Malcom Mclaren had done to the music industry with them.
Their anti establishment music really meant a lot in the 70's in Britain. I just cannot understand why they were not welcomed with open arms to the U.S.

Peace and Guitars,
SouthPaw41LI would have to disagree with that
God is a huge and very fulfilling part of my life. Prayer can do amazing things.
Good for you, well done and congrats on your beliefs, but do not bring folk down or disagree because they do not believe. I know you werent really. I just had a bible basher having a go at me for my great song " I am an atheist". I dont mind anyones religion, it seems to be religious folk that have something against fiolk that dont believe.

I think you can think of a better phrase than that fish one soutpaw41L
Southpaw's fish quote is probably the best and funniest and truthful one so far here. I like this a lot.
your gun slinging one was good too though.
and one from Eric Bogle
" if wishes were fishes we'd all cast nets into the sea"

. Do Sassenachs need special permission from your majesty to play this??
Cheers!
lol not at all. Ye can even change the lyrics to suit, I dont mind,
I also found "you do something to me" quite hard to play and sing if I remember right.

Re: acoustic tunes (23 replies, posted in Acoustic)
One I am trying to remember that i already do with the use of the lyrics is " Caledonia" the dougie McLean song all about my wonderful country, the best country in the whole world!!!
I got asked to do this a few times the other week when i was playing in the pub but i never had the lyrics with me. I am always forgetting the words to the second part in the second verse as well as the second part in the first.
I have done it so many times I would have thought i would know it off by heart.Having the lyrics in front really is a bad comfort zone sometimes.
Ken
Well thanks!
After this post was made in this thread I have forced myself to sing nothing but Caledonia and within 24 hours I have got it. I have memorized the song. It does help that I have been playing it for a few years wit hlyrics and chords in front. Like I said it is a comfort zone thing, tonight I will do it without paper in front.
I might even record a version for you tube. ( but not tonight)

Tops, I put that on as it was taking me ages to put the pics on and stretch the time out so that was the easy option, lol My wife laughed at that too.
hahaha Kenny,
I have not looked to see what is at 1:28 but my guess is it is the long blonde haired long legged female that walks past? I remmber that moment well, lol. I had to keep pointing at the band as my wife was right behind me She was walking around all weekend like that through the campsite.
the song is " No Gods" it was originally done by Brian McNeil but this version is Brian's pal Dick Gaughan. it is from his album " sail on". It is still my favourite song just now, both his and Brian McNeills versions.

Topic: the great Isle of Jura festival (7 replies, posted in Chordie's Chat Corner)
Well it is over again for another year.
I got my wee slot on Sunday night, same one I got forced into doing 3 songs last year. This year I done 6 or 7 in the pub. I set my camera to video and gave it to my wife. She starting filming then turned it off within 6 seconds as she thought I was wanting a picture, so no video this year.
We arrived on the Friday afternoon early to erect a brand new tent with instructions that were wrong! but there was an additional slip of paper that was put in with it to tell how many parts there should have been. It is not easy erecting a massive tent that should be used as a parachute instead on a tent when it is blowing a gale. it was just as bad when taking it down but this was one of the very few times I have taken a tent back down with no rain.
It is a pity some folk even though drunk do not know how to keep a place tidy, bottle, meat packs etc blowing about even though there are bins everywhere for rubbish to go in.
the campsite soon began to fill with tents and folkies throughout the day, there was even a teepee there with a chimney sticking out. By Saturday afternoon the site was quite full and a lot of drunken bums having fun. The Islay pipe band were holding a worshops afternoon for anyone wanting to try out the drums or bagpipes. I never went up as my son and daughter didnt want to, ah well one day they might!
There were bands, singers, musicians all over. We even had a piper that was a biker and played the pipes on his bike but like Al said earlier to me it would have been more impressive if he was riding the bike at the same time.
All went very well all weekend, even the weather was not too bad. Only got a bit of drizzly rain on the Sunday but it was very windy during the night.
I had a nice bottle of Auchentoshan single malt triple distilled for the weekend as well as the ££££££'s I spent in the pub on Lager and more whisky and wines I am totally skint now but worth it.
The bands in the pub were as usual very entertaining all weekend.
Looking forward to next year already.
this clip is mostly of the bagpipes but goes on to some pics of the weekend along to my favourite song just now.
