I'll have my trio try this.  It'll be like Zappa though.  I like it!

Gained a ton of respect for Hornsby after seeing that, really enjoyed it. And I was dreading clicking it at first thinking it might be Springsteen smile

I thought you knew me better than that, Jeff.

Thanks Jim and TF!

This is a favorite band to see live. Every player is a shredder. They have a ton of good stuff too. Here's another jam of theirs. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mskcDR2qJq8

Lots of people know Bruce Hornsby but not many know what a killer piano player he is, or how great his band is. I had an opportunity to meet him after a show and we talked music for 45 minutes. One of the kindest, most humble people you'd ever care to meet.

I wonder if it plays as good as it looks. Some of those promo guitars fall short on playability.

My pleasure. I'm pleased that it worked out!

Metronomes are magic. You should also try setting it to click once every other beat or once every four beats. Will help with your "internal metronome." smile

You should call his house and ask to speak to the cats and then not talk to him. Just to show him how it feels.

You need one that goes faster.

Instead of setting the metronome to click on every beat, set it four times as fast.  It will be clicking four times per beat.  That will help you with note placement since the note you're presently having trouble with releases between the beat and the "and."

Make sense?

On those four clicks you can place the following words for your counting:

Click 1 "One"
Click 2  "ee"
Click 3  "and"
Click 4 "uh"
Click 5 "two"
Click 6  "ee"
Click 7  "and"
Click 8 "uh"

And so on.

Might be easier to explain via Skype. Happy to help if needed!

Happy to help but first...questions!

Do you know about subdividing further between beats and their "ands" for example  1 e and uh 2 e and uh 3 e and uh 4 e and uh?

Also do you practice with a metronome?

Also if you have trouble keeping it in tune you might consider Sperzels or a quick look from a good guitar tech.  smile

I use a snark for acoustic shows.  I find they get unreliable on electrics when there's tons of stage noise.  I tune mid song and they just go crazy.

I used the Boss chromatic tuner for years but just switched to this Korg.  Way easier to read and faster to respond IMO.  I also prefer them in strobe tuner mode.

Agree 100%.  He was brilliant.

I haven't lived in the area for several years but I always had great luck with finding the musicians I need.

Good luck to you!

I used to gig in your area a lot.  Was raised out there.  You need to head to some blues open mics in the south side and NW Indiana.  Loads of great keys and piano players.

Tedeschi Trucks Band.  In my humble opinion, Derek Trucks is the best guitar player alive today.  What do you think?
