THE SOLO
Prestigious gig saturday night
who`s who from the music industry
got to get it right
a set of twenty songs
the high point his solo
causing some concern
gone over and over again
rehearsal every night
gig night comes around
anticipation fever pitch
band playing red hot
when his solo comes around
he delivers it with passion and fire
with feel and soul
his hands can do no wrong
he gives it all he`s got
which drives the crowd wild
drenched in sweat
waking saturday morn
hoping that he`d play the solo
as he`d done in his dream

how about doing some csom?
we could do with more contributions from performers like yourself.
it`s all very well putting songs on here, saying hey listen to me,but i think
you will find joining in  rewarding.

Gidday
this is more a story than a poem i guess, but i intend to add a bit of guitar and recite it.
when i woke this morning the whole thing was in my head i just jotted it down straight away.
goodness knows how this stuff ends up in my head or where it comes from.
Sheriff Of Lonesome
It was a sunday morning, all was well & the town was quiet. The sheriff of the town by the name of Tom Sutch sat at his desk
polishing his peacemaker revolver. He was polishing off some clotted blood that was on the butt of the handle. The previous night the gun had lived up to it`s name, when the sheriff had used it on the head of an over excited cowboy. One tap and he had gone down`peace restored`.
Lonesome was usually a peaceful kind of town, but in the weekend things could sometimes get out of hand.the cowboys, prospectors & farmhands would come to town to unwind from a hard weeks toil.Apart from the saloon there wasn`t
anywhere else to spend hard earned money.Often the cowboys would come to town, spending all day in the saloon having whisky for breakfast whisky for lunch and whisky for dinner.
The only alternative was the newly opened fine dining restaurant.it was owned by an asian family who found more gold to be had providing fine food.More than they had made in the fruitless years of gold mining.
Often up to their knees in freezing water 18 hrs a day for little return.
it took some time for the locals to come to grips with the food they served, often featuring exotic spices from the east. But for a cowboy or prospector who had struck lucky, it was the place to impress one of the many young ladies in town.
Yes Lonesome was surely a town on the up.There had been rumours of the railroad heading their way, linking the foodbowl
to the ever increasing demand from expanding cities.
Sheriff Tom was looking forward to civilization reaching his part of the world,as he was tiring of the violence and lawlessness that pervaded his job.
yes a quieter life would suit the ageing lawman.

the word man strikes again, great observations & oh so true.
funny how little `news`there is when the journalists are on summer holiday.
I predict in the next few weeks we are going to see` more news`

Gidday
thank you very very much for your kind comments & for taking the time to
have a listen.
as usual it was off the cuff,so don`t have a clue what chords/words i used.
but i will have a listen & try to work out what i did.
Your interest has encouraged me greatly, maybe i`ll put more stuff out there.
thank you again

this is a good song well done.
Peatle & i agree on lots of stuff but not this, thought provoking songs are a lot easier
to write.I think love songs are the next easiest, it`s hard to find a new angle
and new thought/words that haven`t been done a million times.
But you did good on this one,but not your best in originality word wise.
You`ve done lots better!( personal opinion)

i hate when we do an original & people say hey thats like so & so.
because it`s not, it`s you.
Having said that i`m a great fan of fairport  convention & this song
is a similar style they have done.
great subject matter & song, excellent performance, leave it as it is.

excellent performance of this song, glad to see you gave the song space.
your guitar had a chance to be heard & the phrasing is excellent also.
With the above i think it felt more natural for you and gave you confidence in your vocal.
I`m no expert or musician, but as a listener this felt like a big step forward for you.
I`m pretty sure you won`t be knocking your own performance anymore.
go you good thing!

Danny Boy,probably the greatest song of all.
The song always brings out the best in an artist.
It has more feel that a pair of gloves.
And more soul than a pair of shoes.
