I would put my picture up, but must admit to being a real goober where computers are concerned. I'm a total techno idiot - did not even have a cell phone until about four weeks ago. Just so yall know, I am a 61 year old bald guy - answer to the names of Tom - hey you - dad - papaw - old man - and a bunch of other names I can't print in polite society.

Wishing everyone a happy thanksgiving day.

Yep, The Price of Growing Old, so true my friend. If I may be so bold, may I ask if ye have a wee bit of celtic blood in ya? Living, working and playing hard takes it's toll on us.

A martin guitar kit sounds like a great retirement project, - only a few more years to go. I enjoy working with wood and have all the equipment needed for such a project. Thanks for the info bswyers. My wife likes the idea as it will keep me from disappearing into woods on our mountains for days at a time.

I use a John Pearse pickup, no preamp is required. Where you mount it on your geetar is up to you, different spots give different sounds so experiment. I use command adhesive strips to attach it, they are removable and don't damage the finish on my geetar.

Make it "your" music, play it in however you want and make it your own.

Very funny, laughed so hard the tears ran down my leg.

Very cool. Makes me want to experiment with nylon strings on the old beater geetar.

Thats good news, we will keep praying for successful rehabilitation and continued healing for you.

What do ya think of "The Rusty String Band", "The Bent Tuners", or "The Broken Strings".

Makes me glad I'm not a field mouse, I'd hate for that to be the very last thing I see in this life.

Welcome to Chordie Winky.  Lots of good advice here. Practice, practice and more practice. Your fingers may get sore but that will pass. Enjoy your new Ibanez.

I would love to have a Gibson Les Paul, but I have to side with cj-5 on this issue. I totally understand sentimental value, having lost loved ones myself.

Cheers for Amy! I've played out a few times and it's such a great feeling of accomplishment. Hope you get to play out more often, your music is a gift to be shared.

I'm more of a jack of all trades kinda guy. I've always been able to do mechanical, electrical and plumbing repairs. I like woodworking projects and gardening. My favorite things to do are, hanging out with my wife and playing guitar.

whenever I experience problems logging onto chordie - I just reach for my trusty alvarez, play a few songs and log back on - no problem, life is good.

I would like to be able to play the concert harp - but since thats way out of my league, I'd settle for the banjo and fiddle.

Hello Jerry, welcome to chordie. My chordie name is the color of my favorite jeep chereokee - been up many a mountain in that jeep.

Hang in there Butch, yea the boredom I can relate to - being stuck in a body cast for over a year due to a motorcycle crash years ago. Back then we didn't have VCR's or DVD's - saw every episode of andy griffith, doctor who and all the charlie chan movies. Daytime TV was bad back in those days too. Be patient and keep us posted on your progress.

Hey Pix, its the color of my favorite cherokee. Sadly she is no longer with us but the memory lives on, best rock crawler I ever had. Someday hope to buy her twin and visit the old cemetary on chimney top mountain again. And to bring us back on topic - Zurf, earlier in this thread you were working on Will The Circle Be Unbroken, nice to know someone is playing an old favorite. I live near the Carter Fold, this song was originally recorded as Can The Circle Be Unbroken, and is often performed on the stage as a tribute to the memory of A.P., Sara and Maybelle. If your ever in the area on a saturday evening and want to hear some good old time country and bluegrass and watch some of the best cloggers - come to The Carter Fold.
