After what I heard about Starbucks I'd never go in there. During the Afghan war UK troops asked for some of their coffee, they were willing to pay but Starbucks came back with a totally out of context and bitchy remark about no freebees. So as far as I'm concerned they can stick their manky coffee where the sun don't shine

You tell um Phill, that is pretty snotty and disrespectful to treat those putting there lives on the line. I have never and will never go in a Starbucks I brew a great cup of coffee and it don't cost $5 or more smile

All this talk about finger-style guitar had me going over some of Michael Chapdelaine's excellent work ... here's a sample:

For me, this is true finger-style, where the guitarist isn't really using any anchor point, other than his/her forearm on the body of the guitar. Not many do it better than Mr. Chapdelaine, as evidenced by this Taylor Winfield 98 guitar he won in competition.

excellent picking smile

Green Bay just won their game. T he Seahawks just lost in overtime too the Bengals in overtime, Looks like all is well in Mr. Rodgers neighborhood. 49ers play tonight. I think Russell is smilling a lot today.

That was a good game The Rams played tough on defense and the absence of Jordy Nelson is felt he always found a way to get open I watched the 49er game they had a chance to win it at the end but the defense let Eli march down the field Kapernik (don't know how to spell his name) played exceptionally well much better then last week as did the whole offence tough loss.

I would suggest getting a book on it, I have one and it makes it easier to learn its almost impossible to self learn it but it can be done, I couldn't do it and got the book just have to go slow with it till it clicks. good luck smile

You always make it sound like playing guitar really isn't all that hard, Russell. smile

Like anything Bill it is harder for some others it is natural and easy, everyone has a gift for something but not all things.

I was taught that when first learning scales one keeps below the 5th fret, the first finger plays the 1st fret, the second finger the second fret, third for third fret and pinky for 4th fret and to always use an open string where possible.

Once scales are mastered down there you can move to the more difficult to remember scales up the fretboard. smile

Roger

The only exception would be the A major/minor scale in two octaves you end on the E string 5th fret, one of the great things about guitar is all the scales are fretted the same past the 1st position depending on the mode or key.

Green Bay won 17 to 3 we will be in the bottom if it keeps up like it is.

Sorry your guys lost but the pack is more tenatious then last year especially the defensive line just faster and stronger with some really quick linebackers, on offense Eddie Lacy and James Stark are running hard and Rogers has new targets to throw to but the results are the same he is just that good. Kapernik had 6 sacs 2 interceptions and only 3 points to show for the night and was running for his life on every down not the same team we played last year.

Good game hard hitting and exciting to watch Packer 27 Seahawks 17 I was impressed with Russell Wisons running and accuracy in his throwing I felt the tide shifting in the 3rd quarter but Aaron cool as ever had other ideas. My hats off to the offensive line they protected Aaron and opened a few holes and on the other side the "Beast" Marshawn Lynch was tamed to just 43 yards rushing it is still to early to make any predictions hopefully Eddie Lacy and Dvante Adams will mend quickly. smile

Patrick I am moving this topic to the SONG REQESTS forum you may repost the lyrics if you wish RH moderator

That is a happy catchy tune (although the riff reminds me of "all of me").  Merv can sure blow that thing, and frankly has more wind than I do.... but for the benefit of Dino, I think that trumpet is actually a Cornet.  Kind of the "travel guitar" of the Trumpet Family.  I personally like the tone as it is mellower even without a mute.

Confession time:  I sold my Baritone years ago...... but there is still a "Bone" in it's case in the corner of the music room next to the Piano.  I hesitate to mention it as this is a Guitar Forum, and risk expulsion or censure for blasphemy.

yeah Doug he surprises me all the time lol it dose sound a little like "all of me" and it is a cornet the last time he visited from Vegas he had it with him. smile

an artist generally is someone who creates be it music or paint, statues I think the term artist can be applied to a vocalist also a musican can play music but that music has to come from someone other then himself sort of a zerox machine makes good copies but cannot create,I am sure there are more definitive variations on this other then my opinion. smile

Good luck with that. I've been on the DNC list for around 7 years and I update every 2-3. Still get "Rachael (or some other name) from cardholder services" at least once a month. When I reported the number I found out that it shows up as inactive. I've started playing with them to waste their time and it's cut down on the number of calls I get.

yes I suppose there are a few that will get through but still there are quite a few that wont so it is still a good option I like your response to waste there time seems only fair smile

I know everyone hates those annoying calls from tele marketers or robot calls trying to get you to sign up for a credit card or whatever if you do not register you phone after the 30th of this month you will be charged each time you pick up but there is a number you can call to block this I just registered my cell phone the number to call is 888-382-1222 if you get any calls you can report them at this number too there is a free website also     https://www.donotcall.gov/default.aspx if you need more information.

Overall I was happy with the Packers anytime the Packers play the Bears it is a weird game strange things seem to happen but Rogers looked sharp once he got warmed up so next week Seattle comes to Green Bay no predictions but think the Seahawks will be 0 and 2 when they leave at least that is what I am hoping time will tell smile
