To make it easier I put the possibilities together, so it is easier to see what  this guitar makes so special.
NEW MODE FUNCTION 5 WAY ROTARY SELECTOR:
- Virtual Ash bodied Strat (for use of tuning function)
- Virtual Telecaster
- Virtual Two-Humbucker Strat
- An assortment of 5 acoustics from Dreadnought to Resonator
- 5-way blade switch

TUNE FUNCTION ROTARY CONTROL:
- Normal regular tuning
- Drop D
- Open G
- DADGAD
- Baritone/Low B
- 12 string
My QUESTION is:
1) WHO HAS EXPERIENCE WITH THIS GUITAR?
2) WHAT IS YOUR OPINION
3) IS IT WORTH TO BUY THIS GUITAR? I know that batteries are present and when your batteries are out of order, it plays like a normal Stratocaster.

IS there a "chordian" who has experience with the VG by having it or by playing it in a store?

Thanks a lot Dough.
It is really very complicated for me. What I understand is that you need a fortune to study in YALE, HARVARD?
If you don't have the money and you have to go to a MINOR University to become a lawyer, your friends at these "ELITE"universities also lawyers will find a job real easy, with those references compared to that minor player.
Someone who plays very well a CELLO can get a scholarship? Is it ALL ABOUT money and fame, having the opportunity to study at Yale, and sportsmen like American Football players are accepted, so don't they take a place from someone else who can't study there?
Is this correct? THEY GET (SPORTSMEN, MUSICIANS) just to have publicity, and they don't get a diploma?

A returning question popping up in every existing forum about guitars and amps.
What is considered as the best kind of amp, and I don't mean brands.
EXAMPLES
1) TUBE AMPS (like my acoustic Marshall AS100D)
2) VALVESTATE amps or amps without tubes
3) HYBRID AMPS (like a Fender Cybertwin)

I have a cybertwin first generation (the 2nd is not selling well), containing dozens of different amps Fender produced since long, like a Fender Twin Reverb. I compared here at my place the real Twin Reverb with the cyber twin RESULT = NO DIFFERENCE for 8 human ears. They sounded exact the same.
So what is your opinion about these 3 kinds of amps, a VETTA from Line6 included?

YES I am not kidding. I don't know what you have to do to "get no gibson each year". That was what they told during the tour, that EVERY WORKER devoted to their job and not too many absent receives a hollow body Gibson as extra bonus each year. I really don't know if they get a solid body because you can't visit the Nashville plant.
SH** I just found this: Finest Quality and here     Short Description:
Origin : beijing,China
Material : Guitar FANTASTIC! They sell the finest Gibson Custom and the material they use is GUITAR, this is the best description I ever saw.
http://www.dhgate.com/p_ff8080811acea9b … 4626a.html

I think that they make their custom guitars in NAZARETH (not so far from BETLEHEM) lol
big_smile big_smile
I have a GIBSON SJ-200 MONTANA GOLD and this beauty is made in BOZEMAN Montana.
I think that
1) Acoustics are made in MONTANA
2) Solid Bodies in NASHVILLE, Tennessee
3) Semi-hollow and hollow bodies are made in MEMPHIS Tennessee

Is there a reason why HARD ROCK ballads are so popular? Some bands like EXTREME are only known by that one smash hit "MORE THAN WORDS" and am I correct if I say that all other album tracks remain in the shadow?
- SCORPIONS = "still loving you" & "wind of change"
- METALLICA = "nothing else matters
- GUNS 'N ROSES = "November Rain" "Don't Cry"
- DEEP PURPLE = "Child in Time" after 35 years still very high ranked in every top 10 in the world, even more successfully than SMOKE ON THE WATER
- LED ZEPPELIN = "Stairway to Heaven" one of the most played songs in the world on radio

IS THERE A LOGICAL EXPLANATION?

REMEMBER, I try to involve in 99% of my topics MUSIC, because that's what matters here, even this topic is music related. The American education system can pursue anything from nuclear science to FILM, DANCE AND MUSIC.

So there are really about music at high school.  Take sport like "football" MUSIC + CHEERLEADERS. This is an US phenomenon, and all I know is from what I see on TV.
CLASSIC SCENARIO = Quarterback + cheerleader. The Quarterback is "the man" and the cheerleader is "the girl" in popularity.

A week ago I wrote a topic about the school system in Europe versus USA. I first thought that it doesn't belong here but in fact it does.
It's all about "scholarships" like sports but also you can get a scholarship as MUSICIAN (I did my home work better this time) But first I wanted to mention the time you spend on school here in BELGIUM and compare it with the USA.
- 3 years KINDERGARTEN.
- 6 years lower school from 1st degree to 6th degree. (6y -- 12y)
- college = 6 years (12y -- 18y) Than you have 3 choices WORK, HIGH SCHOOL, UNIVERSITY.
WORK more difficult without a degree and not many options to promote
HIGH SCHOOL = 3-4 years and some options: NURSE, TECHNICAL or INDUSTRIAL ENGINEER...
UNIVERSITY = 4 to 7 years. So here it takes 5 years to become a pharmacist, 6 years to become a veterinary (when I looked I was overwhelmed how many different specialties there are) and finally 7 years to become a Medical Doctor. You study 6 years and the 7th year is practicing on different specialties).

WHAT IS THE TIME TO STUDY THERE IN THE USA to become a medical doctor, and HOW DOES THE SYSTEM IS WORKING THERE? See what I wrote.
You have some top Universities like HARVARD, YALE, PRINCETON and THERE IT IS: the famous "SCHOLARSHIPS" if you are a very gifted musician you can have a scholarship, or a sportsman. What if you don't have a scholarship and is the UNIVERSITY like Harvard really so important for your future.
I really hope that this is written clear enough. I wrote it because I noticed a few times that a 17 year old MUSICIAN gets a HARVARD scholarship.

Let's say I am a musician and I live in CALIFORNIA.
I am addicted or I drunk too much alcohol and
1) I have a "hit and run" crash with wounded people in the other car. They arrest me, punish me.
2) A couple of months later or a year they find "coke" (not THE bottle) in my car and in my blood.
Probably arrested again.
3) To end, I have a bar fight with a guy who tells me that my music sucks and I beat the man so bad that he is no longer able to work.

THESE "CRIMINAL" Acts and Facts occurred 3 times, will I be sentenced for the rest of my life in jail? Isn't that what the "3" strikes mean?

Here I think immediately on BO DIDDLEY and his famous SQUARE GUITAR.
Also the GUITAR, called TEARDROP played by the late Brian Jones with the Stones.

Concerning the big brands Gibson and Fender, I think only Gibson surprised us with remarkable guitar shapes like the Gibson Flying V AND the Gibson Explorer.

I read somewhere that some guitars have a beautiful carved body, almost real pieces of art.

WHO knows other WEIRD SHAPED guitars? I really should love it to see or read your experiences

Is "THANKSGIVING DAY" the biggest holiday in the USA?
Or "INDEPENDENCE DAY"

Of course CHRISTMAS.
Concerning your family, they all try to be together on Thanksgiving day eating TURKEY'S.

WHY IS THE WORD TURKEY USED because it is written identical as the country.
Eating Turkey in Turkey.

I found that that song was named originally GOOD MORNING TO ALL, by the Hill sisters.
In 1935 "Happy Birthday to You" was copyrighted as a work for hire by Preston Ware Orem for the Summy Company, the publisher of "Good Morning to All".
.
I read that the copyrights in the USA are as long as the author lives and depending on jurisdiction an extra 50 to 70 years.
So "HAPPY BIRTHDAY" is still under copyright. If used in a movie, they charge you extremely high copyright fees = 10.000$ The Hill sisters never had copyright, and the lyrics were changed by 6-8 year old children on birthday parties.
There is an extremely dirty play going on.
the lyrics will come out of copyright at the end of 2008 and the music will come out of copyright at the end of 2016.

I noticed that some songs are sounding a lot better when you play them using another guitar.

I can only compare 1 big body guitar a Gibson SJ-200, with dreadnoughts.

I noticed that when I play a song on a Martin and I play the same song on the SJ-200 that the sound is completely different.
Is it correct that an orchestra model sounding different than his dreadnought brother will sound much better playing some songs?

I can't help it, it is so much stronger than myself.
WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT AMY WINEHOUSE?
Being a doc I have seen a lot of people. You have tattoo's and tattoo's, but AMY? I really feel so sorry for her.
Amy's father is a cabdriver and her mother Pharmacist.
I never saw such a mean ugly woman, disrespecting life and a behavior that beats everything. . She might be a nice woman but this is a "prototype" how such a great voice, is destroying herself, probably because she can't handle or to manage her life.
Worse = fans think that her behavior and her drug abuse are part of life. The use of "coke" has doubled since 2005.
I really blame a lot the media, for writing such "great articles" like Amy this and Amy that. All they want is a picture of a drunken and a full of drugs Amy resulting that I don't know what's more important an album? And IS THIS BEHAVIOR a publicity stunt?
Same for Britney Spears, a girl who was pushed in "media - world," if she would walk in the street wit her BROWN hair and NO MAKE-UP, who will recognize her.

A good player can get A GOOD SOUND using a squier, but look at their gear, big fat (often Marshall) amps.
If you perform on stage and you have the possibility to play in front of 80.000 people, you won't probably not hear a difference. Squier vs Fender MIM vs Fender MIA.
Or an Epiphone LP custom vs Gibson LP.
It' entirely different if you compare 10 guitars, and I use that amp a lot, an ACOUSTIC amp without using effects. Give real good players 20 different Electric Guitars, with the headstock covered and see what this result should be. Or you can blindfold the player so he is able to feel the body without seeing it.

I did once the tour in the MEMPHIS plant.
We WERE NOT ALLOWED TAKING PICTURES, and cellphones 7-8 years ago didn't have a camera.
We say  made with machines.
NO and NO, partial yes machines to cut out a top, a back and sides. You still need a lot of people to make a Gibson.
The most difficult and also the most delicate part = the lacquer process. Almost all the electronics are placed in the guitar by women, and if I'm correct the winding is no problem if you have what you need, meters, and measuring.
All these GIBSONS were hollowbodies, especially the "famous"LUCILLE guitar, made for BB KING. At the end of the processing line are some inspectors, looking for 1 little bubble + sound check. 30% of these guitars don't pass that controle.
AMAZING TOUR. Gibson workers get EACH year a brandnew guitar as bonus for
- not being too much sick
- and working good.

Are these songs still protected, or still have copyrights?

PROCOL HARUM'S leadsinger said once while performing that he wanted to thank his friend JOHAN SEBASTIAN BACH for giving him so many great songs.
I think we all know these songs:
- STREETS OF LONDON by RALPH Mc TELL
- RAIN and TEARS by APHRODITE'S CHILD
You really have to try this: 1 plays on his guitar and sings Streets of London while your friend takes his guitar too and starts to play AND sing Rain and Tears = almost perfect match, even more perfect if you have the CD with PACHELBEL'S CANON. I did this a few times and the result is amazing.
But there must be other great POP songs derived from our classic masters, I have a "black-out" here so WHO CAN GIVE MORE EXAMPLES of great songs?
PLEASE HELP??!!

1) WHAT IS HEAVY METAL?
A fast and aggressive style of rock music, with a lot of emphasis on the guitar.
2) HEAVY METAL'S TOP TUNINGS.
There are many different guitar tunings that are used in Rock and Metal music besides standard tuning. Guitar players in these genres like to use these tunings because they give a heavier and darker sound to their music.
Some of the more popular tunings used are Dropped D, Dropped C, Dropped B, E Flat, D, C and open G. Here are the descriptions of how the strings should be tuned and some of the bands that use them.
3) USING FLOOR BOARDS AND/OR EFFECT PROCESSORS.
What is the most used effect?
I know that on some devices I have some METAL patches.
4) ABOUT GUITARS
Are there "classic brands" who do their job real good?
TAKE GIBSON and their special models
A GIBSON FLYING V isn't that a hardrock or metal monster? A Gibson Flying V faded has 496R and 500T ceramic magnet pickups. I think these are quit heavy pick-ups.
A GIBSON EXPLORER (model SHRED X EXPLORER price = 2.295$ AND EMG 85 pick-ups)
The normal EXPLORER has: also 496 & 500 hot ceramics. OR SHOULD THE TOPIC BE BETTER by writing HEAVY METAL PICK-UPS.
WHAT IS NEEDED TO OBTAIN THE TYPICAL METAL SOUND? THE GUITAR? THE PICK-UPS? AN EFFECT DEVICE? AMP?

Hi TOP, I would love so much to go to a concert, and since I can't stand right no longer, even with my cruches, I need my wheelchair who arrived 2 days ago.
But what was the play list? Did they sing songs from TOMMY, or SEE ME, FEEL ME?

BOOTLEGER WHERE ARE YOU?
He is "the man" who is very very good in all what a guitar should be.
Probably there are still other "chordians", able to make an identical copy of a guitar, but that guitar can sound different because of the woods they use
Mahogany from 1970 will probably sound different than mahogany from 2005. But let's talk about the guitarparts.
The wood, if you are equipped you can cut the top out of a piece of wood. What else do you need?
The neck, really good frets, the right distance, tuners on the headstock which leaves us with the pick-ups, and of course the winding. If you have the skill to analyze a fender single coil, you can make one. These guys have a kind of instrument to check the output.
I really am afraid that due to these Chinese guitars you can buy a Squier, you change the headstock or neck and you use a real Fender neck, or just the headstock, let's say, a beautiful blue squier stratocaster, you change the neck (a lot of neck, headstock WITH Fender Stratocaster USA on it) on ebay. You buy tuners, and once this is done you have a blue real stratocaster BUT STILL A SQUIER for 300$.
I found this "new scamming" somewhere on the net, but I don't know where, and if you sell it the question is HOW MANY PEOPLE will analyze there "great almighty Fender?"Not many buyers.
I HATE SCAM.
Sometimes you can't see the difference between fake and real. I've got a ROLEX from TURKEY, it was a heavy watch. Those scammers buy a real Rolex, they analyze it and in very low cost countries like China they make the inner side of that watch almost identical.
Chinese workers are very hard working people and  smart too. My brother in law's family have a factory in China with 5000 people working for them. They make silk plats, flowers and Christmas trees. They live in a village constructed for them, they all get a bike and every month they get kilograms of rice + an additional $ every day. They are happy, and they earn more than most of other Chinese workers.

That SERBIAN guy with that AMERICAN guy together THAT WOULD BE FUN AND JUSTICE.

AND JUSTICE FOR ALL as BACKGROUND MUSIC. Right Metallica.

Can you find some other titles to use? Wir haben es nicht gewust. Probably the words most used by German officers, right after WWII
translation: "we didn't really know what happened"

Yes AGREE too. Admit there was a period in music history. It started early 70ties in the UK, to become a "subcultural phenomenon" around 1975.
In the USA we had the New York Dolls.
As told it faded away and was almost followed immediately by the PUNK scene, in my eyes also a kind of "image" was more important bands, see a lot of punk bands.
I was doc for years in the biggest dutch speaking theater in Belgium and I noticed a lot that actors when not performing or on stage were quit shy. This too can be a reason to dress up and use tons of make-up. About David Bowie "THE ARTISTIC CHAMELEON" who changed a  lot his looks, he is also a very gifted and talented musician and I remember me getting once as a present the album "Alladin Sane" a great album with great songs. I never heard before of him until that album.

First of all, welcome on this site Doug (I suppose this is your real name?). Thanks for the advise.
I hope you will enjoy CHORDIE.
I believe, having time due to the sequels of a car crash in 2000, started again and against "doctors" advise to work again. Unfortunately I had to stop with my job, because I couldn't follow my rhythm from before my crash. Broken vertebra in my lower back (exploded in 4 pieces) and pushing in and on my spinal chord. It hurts like hell, but I'm still here. So I have a lot of time, I post a lot of topics from real hard topics (TT'S = Think Topics) to serious topics and answers and fun topics. So having all that time, I believe that chordie is at least one of the most complete sites about music, guitars... Most other guitar site I found are FORUMS, but here you have it all = personal approach, you make (cyber) friends and we learn a lot from each other. Glad to have a new "chordian".

I do agree with everybody. But I wanted to add something. (SUBJECTIVE OF COURSE).
If I play electric, I use the 0.9 gauge strings.
I don't know at all what you play but "playing metal" is the most aggressive approach of your strings.
I have some amazing devices able to lower the strings resulting in a low sound great to play metal.
Seeing "metal bands" they often strum real hard, and if you use light strings as I do, you will probably have a few broken strings, because YOU DON'T APPROACH YOUR GUITAR GENTLY. They say if you play METAL use the lowest sounding ,thickest strings. But then again: for lead playing, "shredders" tend to use very light gauge strings, usually .8s or .9s.
Also the recurring discussion about the pick you use. I surfed quit long to find a decent answer, I was convinced they used thick strings, but after reading a lot most of Electric Guitar players use
0.9 gauge. The thicker the strings the more difficult you will have to take a barré, there are still the POWER What's best for YOU is what's best for YOU... it may take a while to work out.
DON'T FORGET YOUR FINGER TIPS.
A lot of metal players tune the E string to Eb
