hi and welcome to chordie.

As I have used and still using it, I can recommend jamplay.com  loads of videos to watch and learn from. This site does require a feee though, but I would say it is worth it, whether you are experienced wanting to learn a new style or a complete beginner I tihnk it is good.

Also there is a guy called Justin on the net somewhere, I hear he is good but I dont know much about him, other maybe could tell you about him.

Good luck with your learning

Ken

hi shapeshifter,

sorry Zurf, it was Pete Townshend that did it.

I remember seeing him on a show about great guitarists and asked why he done it he replied that the place they were playing had a low ceiling and he whacked the guitar off either the ceiling or an amp and he got annoyed so he smshed it up in a mood. When he saw the crowd standing in awe at what he had done he thought what he had done was great for the audience so he carried on doing it. Keith Moon the nutter he was did not need any encouragement to join in.

My opinion on smashing guitars?
Well even though they are great pieces of workmanship, they are replaceable and if the artists have enough money to replace them and it is to put on a show then why not?
But like you said it is a bit blase now.
No one can do it like the Who done it, they even got bored with it and stopped it, or was that their age that made them stop? lol

hi marjeres,

can you be more specific please.

have you made up a songbook at all?

Ken

good thread Pix,

while reading your post I had a few ideas but ye covered them lol

I like to get a different sound by not continually strumming, instead I will strum a chord and lt it ring out while singing, sometimes works and sometimes doesnt.

Happy new year all. All the best for 2009.

I found it strange i have came on here on the 2nd of the month not to find a thread with this name.

I just got back from my 4 day party up north of scotland in a cottage.
had loads of jamming sessions. I have still to check my camera to see if any of it was captured on a video clip.

Hope ye all had a great time.

Hi Andreas
and welcome to chordie, glad you like the site.

If you read the post at the top of this section that Roger Guppy posted this will explain a few things about posting songs.

You could go here http://www.chordie.com/addurl.php and add a song, but it will ot be instantly.

As well as Roger explaining it also tells you a bit on that link too.

Cheers

well I think everyone by now knows my views on religion, I hate it all but this is a very good poem, I like it.
Just because it mentions god doesnt mean I have to hate it.
Very good words, if only so called christians, muslims, jewish and all other religions and non religious folk would read and understand and stop all killings instantly then the world would be better.
But that is not going to happen as humans are scum of the earth, we destroy and kil anything we want to.

But good meaningful poem Phill.

good work

Ken

lol Zurf,
Very true on things ye think of in places of work when ye dont want to be there, just think of other things like that, sit back and smile and get on wit hit.

I like wee factual stories like this, epecially when you are there looking at it and learning about how things got there or how they failed etc.

I could tell you about the "forth road bridge" in Scotland but I would only frget parts, if not all of it lol

Good stuff

Ken

great pics Zurf,
The banjo looks very interesting, but I love the other pics better. Pics of the sky with colour always look good. And that one with the bridge is also great.

I am hopefully going to get some good pics this week. I am heading up north and it is meant to be nice for a few days.

Good question 06.

I tihnk you might have answered your question. I tihnk lots of guitarist could do things really heavy, even before the likes of Led Zep and jimmy Hendrix.
I tihnk the reason we never heard it before was because of the sound that was going about then, I dont think any producer was ready to unleash the heavy distorted guitar with long mad fantastic solos. I think for live performances anyway TheWho could have been one of the firt heavier guitar bands.
If you look at when chuck Berry Eddie cochrane etc were about in the late 50's, their music was seen as rebellious and heavy( for its time) yet we see it as very tame compared to Led Zed, sex pistols, even sounds like Revolution and helter skelter from the beatles.
I see all music changes from the easly 50's up to late 80's as gradually getting introduced slowly through the years.
Chuck berry to the Who to Black Sabbath to sex pistols to Metallic to Slayer

Just an example, I am sure folk could add more or make their own up. It is just a progression of music through the years.

Also ye mentioned revolution which made me ( for some reason) mention helter skelter, Motley Crew done a cover of this and I tihnk if that if the sound or the rightproducer was about at his time wen he beatles done it, they would be sounding like motley crew's version.
Also whie still thining, lol, souixe and the banshees done a cover of "dear Prudence" again , would the beatles have made it sound like this in a different time?

TAz,

can you be more specific?

is it your own material? if so go to song writers section and you can add them instantly

if it is other artists marterial I hope you have read followed the instructions in resources on how to add a song.
I dont know what yer talking about when ye say ye have wrote down own paper, does this mean you have wrote your own stuff or have you wrote down the artists names and songs that you have directed chordie to?

Hi Mickey

I was thinking of moving this to CHAT,
bt it is about chordie and you have a very valid point.
I too have noticed the amount that goes unanswered.
I know I look in tha section when i see a new pos in but if I do not know the song I will not reply. I think this might be the case with most.
Or, I have a few times a while ago looked up on google for what some were looking for and found it quite easily and thought they could have done that.
Maybe they are not that familiar with search engines? maybe they are too lazy and just want the answer right in front of them? maybe they think a few milion people read that section and will get an answer? maybe members do not look in that section as they are not interested in helping?

quite a lot of anwers and I tihnk maybe all of the mare correct.
But still it does get used and some requests do get replies. I have not looked and tallied them up but I would think that the majority do get replies, even thoughter re a big number not getting replies.

this does solely rely on members to have a look in when they see a new post has been submitted and maybe they will never be able to help anyone but maybe one day they could help someone.
We cannot force members to go in or even to help if they do know the answer, but it would be nice if we could lol

Also for anyone replying, they must remember NOT to post lyrics and chords directly onto chordie, so maybe some of these unanswered threads are getting replies via email straight to the person.

Hi Ken

You cannot submit any new stuff directly onto chordie unless it is your own material. If it is then you should go to the songwriter's section in the forum.
If you are talking about submitting other artists songs then I am afraid thereis nowhere you can do this, however if you go to " resources" it will tell you there how you can add a song to chordie.
Chordie does not host any song directly, all songs are taken from other websites.

hail ye oh mighty fix it man lol

well done James, I be there are a few happier people in your home after you ave done all this handy work. Or if it is anything like in here I get a quick " oh great, thanks" and then it is forgotten about as if it were never broken.

I fixed my daughter new violin tht I broke lol
I was tuning it up for the first time and the bridge came thundering down and snapped. Luckily my wife had a spare one, so now it is ok.

I also fixed a hole in the ceiling we seemed to to have got from a leaky pipe we had at the beginning of the year.
I fixed my wifes seized car brakes last night, never got thanks for it. I put it down to she was in that much of a hurry to get out she accidentally forgot to say thanks, and this morning when she got home she must have forgotten her brakes were knackered yesterday.
Not that I mind, because  if I never fixed her car she would hae taken mine. I just dont trust her behind my wheel.

I saw this post on xmas day and thought I have to record something first before posting something on here.

My son got a 3/4 size electric guitar and starting kit.
My daugher gt a 3/4 size violin.

both have not had any lessons apart from me showing him the odd chord or two. My daughter as had a go on my wife's violin to make a noise, enough for her to say she wants to learn it.

About a week before christmas I had shown my boy a few clips on youtube with angus young, the guitarist from ac dc, the one that dresses like a school boy and goes mental on stage.

My son now thinks this guy is a god and indeed he is!

here is a one minute video of the two of them on christmas day, although only a minute this went on most of the day.
WARNING::::::: ear plugs may be needed::::::::

I am just letting you know I deleted you duplicate question from the the other section. PLease do not duplicate questions in different sections of the forum.
Thank you

As for the chord variation try clicking on the chord grid when you are in the song, that wikll show you where you can play all E's
