Hey Doc! Good to have ya back smile Just curious... Have you tried different scale length guitars or different playing positions, like a neck up classical position to offer you some relief. I sometimes use the classical (neck up body on left leg)position to play... It seems less stressful to me and I can play longer without fatigue that way. It keeps the elbow at more of a 45 degree angle versus the 90 degree angle of standard position. I'm sure you've probably tried these already but wanted to mention them just incase... All the best! -Pix

Thanks a lot guys and gals! Yep turned 36... Not much to tell... I still went to work for the first half of the day then met with the family to go out for dinner and then finished it off with last minute Christmas shopping. I did get some cool tools smile  Re-fret saws, fret slot knives, radius gauges, and some radiused sanding blocks for my fret work... Also got my kerfling and binding to finish up my uke build smile

Thanks again for the birthday wishes smile    -Chris

When tabbing a + is sometimes used in the place of a # for a sharp note. So C+ would be C#.  E5 (or any chord followed by 5) is often used as a symbol for a power chord shape... So E+5 would be an E# (F on 8th fret A string) power chord....  These are loose interpretations and you can/should play along with the song to fine tune it.... I'm working a tab at the moment that uses C+ as a C#m chord so it really all depends on the tabbers intent.

Russ is correct as well, it just depends on the type of score/tab your following.... Maybe a link to the music in question would help us narrow it down for you...

My advice is simple, play it how ever you can now but remember to continue practicing it the ways you can't smile

I occasionally use the cheater F (xx321x) It just fits some songs better... Like "What it's Like" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gliNv1eF … re=related but mostly I prefer barre.... I just find it easier to manuever from chord to chord and add variations to the strumming like muting and such.

Just found your website last night and have already passed it along to 3 others at our Church Program last night.  Posted a link to it on my website also.  Ck it out!    www.jimdelozier.com

Even if I don't win, your site is still the coolest!  cool

Welcome aboard Jim! I look forward seeing you around the forums smile You'll find that we're all like a big family here! So jump right in the discussions and offer advice when you can and don't be afraid to ask for help if you need it as well wink
I'd also like to thank you for directing more people to this great site! As with any online community, we're only as good as our members and ,luckily, chordie has some great people hanging around smile -Pix

I've decided to give away an instructional DVD and a pack of D'Addario EXP strings to a lucky Chordian for Christmas... The DVD is "Johnny Hiland Bluegrass Guitar".  It's an excellent instructional DVD for walk-ins (runs between chord changes) to add some interest to your playing, regardless of style, though it does lean more toward bluegrass. It also covers some great strumming and flat picking techniques smile I'm sure whoever gets it will find it very helpful, I know I have wink If you don't know Johnny here's the little intro section of the DVD with him playing some real nice flatpicking http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qaDmoNzCW_M Don't worry the DVD starts you off slow wink but still covers some advanced techniques so all levels of players should find it equally helpful...

So, if you'd like your name in the pot just post below and Friday I'll take all the names, put them in a hat and pick a winner smile Best of luck to everyone and Merry Christmas! -Chris/Pix

Very nice Toots! I enjoyed that smile

Glad you guys got a chuckle out of it smile He was upset afterwards when he realised he had kicked it too hard and it had pood all over his shoe lol

Like the title says these are just some things I've wished to see on chordie for some time and never mentioned so I thought I'd throw some out there and see what others think...

- I'd like to see the search index for artist and songs to be available from the forum page..
- I think it would be good for links to be opened in a new window instead of them
carrying you away from Chordie... I think this would help keep people on the site instead of
wondering off after following a posted link.
- I think it would be cool to have in house personal messages between members...
- I'd still love to see a classifieds section for member use...
- I think it would be cool to be able to rate or Thumbs up/down topics and responses to help direct
people to good threads and advice..
- I'd like to see polls added to the forums...
- After a few years of blue, I'd like to see a color change smile

There are others that aren't coming to mind at the moment but I'll add those in later smile  Not complaining at all, just some thoughts.... What does everyone else think?

Yesterday I took the family out on the town..(Myrtle Beach) We started off with a little put put since it's the mini golf capital of the world...Then we went to Dixie Stampede for the dinner and show and it was great. Really enjoyed the pre show which was the Guinness record holder for juggling and he performed some really amazing tricks. After the pre-show we went into the larger stage and dinning area for the meal and Christmas show. Well I won't bore you all with details but about half way through I talked to one of the employees and got my middle son (9) into the chicken wrangling skit. He and 3 other young boys got up in front of about 1,200 people to chase chickens across a finish line smile It was hilarious smile They each had a chicken to chase and maneuver to the finish line at the other end of the arena. Well my sons chicken wouldn't move! He pushed, shooed, and hollered all to no avail and finally after getting fed up and laughed at, he started Kicking the chicken from one end to the other lol So there he was in front of all those people playing soccer with a live chicken smile Glad PETA wasn't in the house wink Maybe you had to be there but everyone was rolling. He got a medal and a personal letter from Dolly Parton congratulating him on his performance, which was pretty neat. Next we hit Dicks (A local hangout) for some shagging... My oldest son (10) had his first slow dance with a young girl which was cute and fun to watch. Then we went onto the island for a campfire and some jamming with friends on the beach.. A little cold but fun nonetheless. Just a good time with some funny moments I wanted to share... Maybe one or two of you chuckled over the soccer chicken smile -Pix

I'd have to add the DDUUDU pattern! It's (IMO) the most usefull and will fit most songs well...

Well it's not google maps but I'll share a pic of where I call home. I snapped this last winter during our brief snow.

The room on the left ,with the seperate door, is my office/studio room where I spend most of my time. That old oak in the back is one of my favorite things about the house... At 6 ft from the base it measures 27 ft around and branches out to cover almost 2 lots! Huge plans for a treehouse this spring smile
