What an awesome tune, badeye! I had never heard it before just now! smile I used to love The Staples back in the late 60's early 70's, but then I kinda got away from that, and started listening to other stuff. May I offer up one of my own favorites? Every guitar player should know this riff...... wink-wink......

That come with Bacon, Hash Browns, Toast and Coffee too?  Try capo on 2, C/G  F and G.....and capo down/up from there wink

HAHAHAHA! I see you got my little bit of "satire"..... . Yeah let's me and you head to the nearest  Waffle/Huddle House, get called "Hon"/"Hunny" by the wait staff (I love it when they do that!! ALWAYS makes me smile and feel good).

Thanks, my friend! Much appreciated. You're referencing "My Girl" using the capo, right? (Just making sure ---- been UP ALL NIGHT ------

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H_QRL3t9qyc

practicing and trying to make sense out of Audacity and watching the tutorial on YT.) I hope to have my "presentation" ready for y'all sometime very late tonight on SoundCloud. I want to thank my pretty Dondra for her constructive critical "ear" listening to me singing my two songs a capella in the car incessantly and helping me to rewrite a few words to make that one song "special". ("wink-wink, nudge-nudge. Say no more") smile . She won't be joining me with the singing (too shy), but we're gonna work something out.

Special thanks to Beamer for his help last night and introduction to Audacity. I'll get it together , Buddy, no worries. Got nothing to do all day but get ready with a couple of tunes honoring my Chordian friends!.....

Thanks

And he offered up this clip to go along with it from Bill as well:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dofECCtTfaM&t=12s

wink  I'm thinking he's still rather in love with that guitar.  Here's hoping the BP is down a little and he's finding time to relax and unwind with a few songs!

You are right, Enkelkind, your Opa "Opie" loves that guitar very much fer sure, fer sure. smile

I also wanted to make sure everyone "got" the  clip on YouTube? If not, would you please look at it again? It references "The First Gift Of Christmas" from the movie "The Polar Express", which is my favorite Christmas movie of all time. My little Fender (which carries the name "Amy" in honor of you know who) really was and is my very own "First Gift Of Christmas" from my friends Jim, Amy and Kids.

I STILL get chills when I play that beautiful guitar!!!!

I know, Phill. there is a sound  section on my computer and one can activate the mic, but what does one sing into? In other words,  where on the CPU is it?

Thanks

Bill

EDITED TO ADD: Never mind, my friend. I think I have it sussed (that's the way y'all say that right, "sussed"? wink  )  What I did was find an old surround sound set of headphones with a mic attached. It fits into the mic USB port on the front of my computer, so I can sing into the mic and it will pick up the guitar as well. Does that sound right? I will then save it as an mp3 or wav file and upload to SOundCloud. Right? smile

"In The Court Of The Crimson King" was always one of my favorites, TF, but I wasn't familiar with "Easy Money" until today and loved it, but THREE drummers (am I seeing that correctly?)????  I have to say I'm impressed! Are they all independently wealthy? smile Like you said, "no rules".

Also, as regards Marillion: I heard a song by them while vacationing in Germany several years ago, but can't remember the name of it.  Did it have a lady's name?

Thanks,

Bill

PS: "In A Gadda Da Vida". Useless trivia, but I read somewhere that the name came from a mispronounced  title of "In The Garden Of Eden". Apparently, the lead singer was so hung over, he mumbled the song's title and that's what came out of his mouth.

Another bit of trivia: Someone apparently started the rumor that "In A Gadda Da Vida" was Yiddish for "In The Garden Of Love". When I heard that, I laughed so hard my belly hurt! smile Yiddish???!!.....

Dino, buddy. I can play the bass part just fine, but I'm having trouble hitting some notes (such as D) with my voice. I'll check it out, though and maybe play it for her birthday. What a great idea, my friend!

....... like crazy to get you all a song ready for New Year's Eve.

Due to personal family and other difficulties I have not gotten my head straight enough to write some extra lyrics to "Cotton Fields" for my Kiwi and Aussie friends, and I am sorry about that. However I do have a song I am working on which I think you may like to hear. It has a  special meaning for me and I will explain that when I upload the song to SoundCloud.

What I want to do is record it onto Dondra's tablet and then make an mp3 file and then put it on the Cloud.

Does that make sense or would I be doing it wrong? It will be the first time I will ever have done this on my own, so I hope it works out. Doug has been advising me on how to use my microphone (an old Shure), but I've been so crazy here lately, I'd rather do it on the tablet. Besides, I don't have a desk or regular mic stand anymore.

Thank you

TF: Will you forgive me the fact the only song which totally rocked me was "Today's Tom Sawyer"?

I know. It's a "reach" for this 66 year-old drummer, but it sure made me wish I could have been Neal Peart slamming away at that wonderful kit.

I cannot compare these three to my beloved ELP, but I certainly DO also appreciate the talents of Messrs Geddy Lee  Alex Lifeson and Neal Peart .

Maybe I just came along a little late?

Hey it's me. Let me just wuickly update y'all on what's going on here, and thanks for the good wishes, everyone.

1. My blood pressure is out of control and my VA Doc isn't very happy, because up until Monday (tomorrow here), I haven't wanted to leave Dondra alone here at home to come and see her. She could come with me, me but I can't have her sitting up in a waiting room that long, so....

2. Since my blood pressure (at last check) is at 220/125 and the new meds have yet to "kick in", I've been instructed not to exert myself, because a b/p that high is a stroke risk, and we can't have that, since I am Dondra's caregiver.

3. In addition, I've been under some stress lately due to "family problems" that some of you may already know about.....

So..... I'm going to have "ride this out" a few days longer and I hope to be "with" you (my other family) on Christmas Eve

So, I think that catches you up on your pal, Opie and I'll see y'all asap.

Thanks for the love and care.

Hi Everyone, it's Dondra

Bill asked me to post this under his name.

We'll get him straightened out asap and he says he and I will join all of our Chordie Family for Christmas and New Years, come "Hell or High Water". Right now, we're trying to titrate his new blood pressure meds UP so he can get enough to lower it. It is an iffy thing, because we don't want to give him too much, because if we do, it is likely to send him into Bradycardia, so we have to be careful. Thank God he loves scrambled eggs and toast!!!! lol

We are each other's caregivers and we ask for your thoughts, prayers and "good vibes". This one is from him..

John (Entwhistle) kept his strings tuned so high and tight I'm surprised that if one of them broke they hadn't put his eye (s) out.

Still,  he was an awesome bassist, wasn't he? "Boris The Spider".....

You...... "knocked this one up", huh, Phill? wink

Well, I am happy you knocked it up, dear friend, and may I tell you I absolutely loved it?!

Beautifully written and performed, and I'm still as amazed as the first time I ever heard one of your tunes.

I appreciate your talents and recognize you as one of our mentors. I am surrounded by fellow musicians here and there's no place I'd rather be.

You guys and ladies ( I will not say "gals") never cease to amaze me with your talents and I thank you and love the fact you have been blessed with them.
