Deadstring, just where is this place of bidness located. If it's in your neck of the woods it can't be far from me. Might want to get by there and take a look-see, sometimes.

215 N. Polk St. Jefferson, Texas. Come prepared to stay the whole day. Jefferson is like a town from the past. All kinds of neat stuff to do. The building that the guitar shop is in has 4 0r five shops in it but the sign out side says"DER BASKET KASE".
There is also an Old General Store where you can buy all kinds of stuff from the past such as Black Jack chewing gum, Clove chewing gum, the old bird whistles that you put water in and sounds like a bird. Too much too list but it is only about an hour west of us.
Do some searches for Jefferson, Texas and check it out. Would be a great day trip for you. AL

Thank you for the link, Deadstring. Enjoyed that.
The toilet seat guitar would be a good match for my playing ability.
We have a music store in nearby Stapleton, Alabama called Picker's Paradise that reminds me of your Thumbpicker store.

Jim Ball is the only man I want working on my guitars because he is the best in this area. His wife, Lyle is most gracious and forever beautiful. They had a music store in the islands that blew away in a hurricane so they moved here just in time for another major hurricane (Ivan).
They host a jam session/open mike on the first Tuesday of every month that is well attended. They have a huge selection of instruments, lessons by professionals and the best service around.

Thanks tooter,
Music shops make me feel like a kid in a candy store.(With no money to spend.)

Old Doll.

I am glad folks are enjoying the clip. I hope to get to know him better. I know nothing about his past but just thought I'd share the link. I'm sure there is some history in those talented hands of his.
(Doll, when addressing me, it's AL not sir.)
Good to see you posting again. I joined about the time you slacked up.
As for the hug, it depends on how good a job he does on my guitar.

I have a hanger and a case. The two guitars get swapped around a week or so at a time. AL

My Epiphone is in the hands of this Grey haired man. He makes and repairs instruments. Gave me a good price on fixing the neck, replacing the bridge and an odd ball fret and adjusting the action on my Exelente. Check out his  site and hear him and a friend play. Also has a video of a restoration he did on a Harp. In the bottom picture check out the electric guitar made from a wooden toilet seat. Enjoy.

I was to do a song at evening service yesterday. Picked out one I had never done before. I typed out the lyrics and the chords putting the chord letters just above the words where the chord change would come. Practiced for a good while until I was satisfied with it. Printed it out and off I went. When time came to do the song I began. Everything was good until about the second chord change where I realized that most of the changes were coming about 2 words too early. The Chord letters "C" "G" and so on were not where they were supposed to be. This surprised me on the first verse but
by at least being able to see the next chord and feeling the music I did good the rest of the way through.Came home and got on the PC to look  at what I had saved and it was exactly as it should be. Strange! Anyone have any idea how to keep this from happening again? I know to proof read next time but why would the letters not print like they show up? Does Bill Gates not like me?

I never understood it until you posted and I read a little about it. Lots of stuff hidden within 25 miles of me. I already have a GPS. May have to give it a go.

I paid $125 for a like new condition Johnson for our church. Great sound, easy to chord and stays in tune. Got it at a Pawn shop and he threw in a very used case.

Grilled Corn On The Cob.

I pull back the husks and sprinkle some  Tony Sachere's seasoning on there, replace the husk and wrap in tin foil  and grill for about 20 minutes , flipping it every 5 minutes or so.
Even frozen corn with no husks comes out so good I don't even butter it.
I use Tony Sachere's on most everything I grill.

I can't answer for all prisons but maybe I can help. We have 4 different prisons near us in NW Louisiana. Maximum,Medium,Minimum (Pea Farm) and the Work Release facilities.
I drive a van for the Sheriff Dept. I take low risk inmates to their jobs in the morning and go get them in the evening. These jobs give these people a little money in their pockets when they hit the streets. Even these inmates are not allowed the pleasure of having an instrument and these are not hardened criminals. You can imagine what a dangerous person could do to himself or someone else with a guitar string. Anything from the out side  seems to be considered contraband.

Have you got a strap on that guitar Fish? I used to get back pain until I got a broad leather strap. This was just sitting down practice but a strap does mean you aren't tensing to hold the guitar on your knee. Other thing I'm thinking is that your singing technique may be the trouble. Are you finding your right key or straing to make the recording pitch? Do you warm-up first? Plenty of throat clearing and belching when I get ready to go out singing...

I feel better when I stand and play. When I buy my next guitar I am going to make sure that it has a strap. As far as singing in the right key, according to my wife who hears me sing,  I couldn't find the right key if my life depended on it. As far as belching is concerned, you should hear me after a couple of beers.

according to my wife        That's the problem! Get a new wife and you'll feel much better!! JUST KIDDING LADY FISH 24

I have not but if my stomach rumbles the guitar (acoustic) amplifies the noise.

Try practicing while standing and see if it happens.

Dingo, I bought an Epiphone with a cracked neck at the heel and a countersunk screw installed. My intentions are to one day try myself or have it repaired. Right now it plays so sweet I am just enjoying it. By the way, I didn't get the deal you are getting. Try it you'll like it.
