Hey Amigo... Happy Belated Anniversary to you and the misses
Sounds to me like everyone involved had a great time. One down...49 to go to 50.
"I'm so excited I don't know what to do with my self!!!"........... H-m-m-m-m-m-m
I'll leave that alone but I will say I had a drink or two or three for you both on Saturday night.
Thanks for giving me a good reason.
Cheers to you both
Kenny
Howdy Doody and Welcome to Chordie pcoulter31 and zguitar.
No such thing as a stupid question here.
As you can see...we're a real friendly bunch that love to give and receive any kind of advice that is available.
Another tip touched on and is a valuable source is Youtube, or pretty much any online music site.
Simply search out the song you want, add "tutorial" or "cover" in the search string and you should find a wealth of vids that show and explain how they are played. Notice though that they might not be how they were written originally. That's OK though as it all helps.
Hope that helps you get gooder.
KAP

Glad you finally got your cottin pickin picks Phewwwww. It seemed like a long time.
I am looking forwards with great pride to precociously picking picks to play and part with.

Roger Guppy is next on the list after me . (Grandfather clause prior to new rule)
When Roger receives his picks he will post "Package Received" The next poster is winner.
As Topdown has delegated as the new rule for taking part: When the pick package is received, whomever receives the picks will post "Package Received" The first to respond to the thread on board will be the next chordian in line. Addresses sent by private Email by the winner to the previous winner.
Lets keep this thread cooking with some pics of some picks.

Hey Russ...:)
Did any one ever tell you that your style is similar to Dire Straits...I can hear it in this song. That's one of the cool things about listening to your tunes.....Your flexibility.
Listening to your tunes is like a box of chocola....You know what I'm gonna say.
The sign of an artist is versatility.
I be liking this one to-o-o.
Kenny
Good for him, his Mom and Pop and you .:)
It's good to see the gene pool is moving in the right direction.
Sounds like he had lot's of encouragement along the way...Something we could all use more of.
Kenny
I'd like to respond but I'm too busy.
Been there!!!Do it!!!To a degree.
I be liking it.
Kenny
Hey Shady...Kudos to you.
If ever there was a someone that deserved a tribute song in this age of electronics surely it would be Les Paul.
You made me feel kinda guilty that I didn't do one. You might have opened up the gates on this one.
Good Call and Very Good Write and Recording.
Kenny
Hey Selso...Can't go wrong with John Prine.
If I ever regained the moxy to do an open mic I would go loaded for bear. Try and get a feel of what the audience is into and then play for them the most emotionally connecting song that you know and play well enough to highlight your style of playing and singing.
I could be wrong but I think audiences at open mics are there for the atmosphere. Play to that using your strengths and you'll have a blast my friend.
Looking forwards to a couple of gleaming reviews in Southpaws thread.
Have a Blast
Kenny
I can row a boat!!!...Canoe.
R-R-R-R Thanks Matey!!! You just saved me about 10,000 brain cells and 4 hours sleep.
That's kinda bizarre you brought up "Armies of Darkness" Zurf. That has been on at least 4-5 times in the last 6 months as a late-or later than late movie. Me, not being as young as I us'ta was can never manage to stay awake long enough to watch it and I always end up kicking myself the next day (I gotta tell you that is starting to hurt). The preview looks hilarious so I guess now I am gonna buy myself a DVD player and rent it.
I can't remember skippy's name that stars in it but he has been in other campy movies. His name is on the tip of my tongue but I can't read upside down.
Cool..no commercials and instant replay. I love this country.
Thanks for bringing it back into my thought proccess.
KAP
Ya-Ya!!! Anold will be back,(And Jamie Lee too...please) the question is will it be before he is past his action days? or is he already.
That is why God made the DVD player.
Cool...No commercials and instant replay. I love this country.
Lots of great movies out there. These are my categorized Movies.
Western: Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. (Think you used enough dynamite their Butch!)
Sci Fi:Alien. (The first one...I hate remakes)
Action:True Lies. (it's Arnold to da rescue...ya!!!ya!!!)
War: Saving Private Ryan. (One word....Incredible)
Tearjerker: Taking Chance. (I suggest if you haven't seen it than you should.)
Pay it Forward. (Awesome message...Don't forget the tissue's)
Fictional: Forest Gump. (Run Forest..Run. As they say across the big pond...BRILL)
KAP
Campy: Hard Days Night (I stayed in the theater and watched it 4 times...I was 10 at the time )
Help (I stayed in the theater and watched it once... I was Maturing )
Austin Powers (I never thought a mole could be so funny. )
Good idea topdown, the first person to post after "package received" should be next but not until "package received" is posted by the recipient.
Pick pics would be cool to. I would imagine they vary somewhat.
This means you still have to watch closely to participate, keeping the thread going.
KAP
Ya gotta love experimenting...
Well Done
Kenny
Thanks for the link Cam
I love the harmonies and the fiddle. Awesome
Kenny
Very professional productions on both vids. Kudos on a very important subject. How old are your nephews? cause they do good work.
They got my vote.
Last week it was announced that the H1N1(swineflu) has jumped to turkeys in I think it was Argentina. Although they don't seem that concerned about it cause it is not airborne and they have it contained, I for one will hold a healthy skepticism.
Nothing wrong with being informed.
Kenny
Du-u-u-u-u-u-de....This is an awesome song.
G]Hand to the victors
[A]Black dot upon my face
[G]She lit me a Camel
[A]and put me in my [A]place
Outstanding lyrics and vocals. Great work done on the mix and drums by Jerome and Jeff. This really does sound really good. To me I get a kinda Reggae-New Mexico mix. I be liking it.
Is this the next new sound?????
You be Jammin Man.
Your gettin gooder...much gooder.
Kenny
Hi Lena,
In times such as this it is important to try and remember all the little things that have transpired in your lifetime with your brother and your family.
Continue to write them down with a proud or peaceful or tearful smile, and if willing than share your times in song and poem with all your friends here on Chordie.
Peace be with you and your family
Hugging you in Canada
Kenny
Hey skullshot...Welcome to Chordie
Yup! Cam and Flatpicker and fatstrings are just a few of the many fine people you will meet
here so by all means climb on board and start a new thread or carry on an old thread.
Friendly contribution is what it's all about.
By the way, I'm in London Ontario...How about yourself?
KAP
Great Story Wayne, that must have been a blast jamming with them. I wonder what you would have done if he flipped his guitar while you guys were playing.
Me....I would have stopped playing to try and figure out what just happened.
Chatham County Line I'll have to keep my ears open. Real tight vocals.
There is a city called Chatham, 60 miles from here. I don't suppose they get up here to play?
Thanks topdown
P.S. Check yer Google Mail.
Very Cool links Pix, I wish I could hear the tunes but I'm outside the US of A and blocked.
I'll find them somewhere...Where there's a will there's a way.
Hey Wayne...I liked that Elizabeth Cotten's "Freight Train" Did you notice that she is a lefty and is playing her guitar upside down. That is the first time I have seen that done, I've heard of it but never seen it. Very Cool Thanks.
Goes to show you where there's a will there's a way.
KAP
Hi camdener, just keep an eye on the thread to see who has it, then Email them right away. It's a first come first serve...so be quick
KAP
Welcome to Chordie holder23
All great advise given and I'm sure there will be more to come...Like mine
When I first started playing guitar I had a heck of a time learning to strum. It was suggested by a friend to learn strumming using a very flexible pic. It made sense to me to me cause the pick always managed to grab a single string or my awkwardness in strumming (trying to strum) made it very discouraging. I went for a .38 MM pick. After a while I got gooder at strumming and progressed to a heavier pick until I got to the point I was happy with my strumming. My mistake was that I picked up a lot of bad habits along the way which are tough to shake.
Lighter pick means: more forgiving while learning.
quieter playing, so you won't drive others crazy.
when you get gooder you will find a time and place for a light pick.
Hope this helps
Have fun and practice proper.
