Green Grass and High Tides, I only wish I wish could play it. Great stress relief when I'm having a rough day.

I'll probably do some BBQing (deer steaks and hams) later today and the guitar will be played. Sundays I like to play gospel tunes - at least thats how it starts out.

Wishing everyone a happy Easter Sunday. Took an early morning walk out on the ridge on our mountain to watch the sunrise, heard the wild turkeys across the holler - yea its gonna be a great day.

Thanks for posting M.B. - very interesting.

Let us know what strings you decide to put on.  Always curious as to what strings others use.

Strings do not last forever, I believe you should put on some new strings, it can't hurt and they are not that expensive. medium or medium/lights should serve the purpose.

It was'nt an archtop. I did'nt even pay attention to the price tag, I've got my heart set on a 12 string and every so often I stop in and look.

What a coincidence, I stopped in at a pawn shop Friday afternoon and spotted a Hofner hanging on the wall. It had a nice mellow sound. They also had a squier strat that caught my eye.

There's all kinds of food at the track, way to easy to over eat. I follow Tony Stewart and my wife favors Clint Bower. At Christmas they have a vestival of lights, ya get to drive your car around the property to view all the light displays. At the end of the tour you drive your car around  the track and park on the infield for food and souveniers. You can really feel how high the banking is in a Ford windstar van, it's a blast dino.

Whoooo-hoooo it's Nascar race time at Bristol this weekend. A real good excuse to party and eat more that I should. Looks like I'll only get to play guitar during caution flags.

I've tried moving as far away as the cord will allow but it did'nt help. I don't mind spending for a sound hole cover if it will have the desired effect, as it would be cheaper than another guitar. I'll take your advice and stay away from the rice pudding - thanks jjj

Hi and welcome aeroparrot. Great advice from all of the above, have fun learning and playing. Yea - the fingers may get a bit sore but it will pass if you keep at it. Keep us posted on your progress, remember your are never alone - we were all beginners once.

I recently mounted a john pierce pick-up on my guitar. When using an amp I get a lot of feedback interference. I can reduce the feedback noise by reducing the volume, but this defeats the purpose of wanting greater sound levels. Will a sound hole cover help or should I just breakdown and buy an electric guitar? Opinions/advice anyone? I have been fighting a severe case of GAS for quite sometime - do I keep fighting or just give in?

Same here Roger - 2 ex-wives - 2 guitars, 1 banjo, 1 mountain dulcimer, 1 flute and 1 tamborine. Present wife's reply to inquiry for new 12 string guitar is, "should'nt you buy a new canoe first". Do ya think she is stalling?

Well done sir.  Nothing says fun like guitars, guns and fishing.

Very very nice, I tip my hat to you sir.

Crab-stuffed shrooms and bacon wrappped scallops, wish I lived closer to ya so I could drop by for a sample. Sounds delicious, Topdown.

Hey alanmac, if wi-fi is available stick your laptop on a stand near ya and use Chordies auto scroll feature. That way if anyone says "so you still need the book" you can just say, no - they won't know you've gone hi -tech on em. Go ahead and do the gig and have fun, most people are envious that you can get up and perform for them and will overlook or not even notice the laptop you glance at from time to time. Keep us posted.

Don't worry about having to look at a song in order to play it. You will eventually be able to remember the lyrics and chord placement to a few of your favorite songs. If I don't play a certain song for a while I tend to forget and need to have the song in front of me so I can play it. As I get older I find it more difficult to remember complete song lyrics and chord placement. I also keep a chord chart as a reminder of chord shapes for unusual and seldom used chords. Play on Sonnya and have fun.
