Very cool, Russell ... congrats! My Boss ME-80 board has this effect built in (-1, -2, and +1) and it gives the guitar a sound like a twelve-string on steroids and in a bad mood. If anyone knows how to make good use of something like this, it'll be our Alien Moderator.
Thanks TF I do have a ME-50 there is an octave effect but it will not play both the octave and the original note together and I was looking for something just like this "a twelve string on steroids in a bad mood"

I'm not so sure Carolina is a shoe in, Manning seems to always find some extra in a big game and Denver has a solid defense I know Carolina beat the Packers but that wasn't decided till the last play when Rogers missed a wide open receiver in the end zone so it should be a good game I do like Cam he says what he thinks and he is really gifted passing and running my gut says Carolina too.

I just added this to my pedal effects a Boss OC-3 Octave pedal. the newer songs I am composing need a heavy sound on the bottom mixed with distortion and this fills the bill and it was on sale so i pulled the trigger it should arrive later this week just in time for me to add the lead guitar effects to my new song.

so this is a quite advanced song? only playing guitar since 2 weeks, plan to ask her in a year and a half. do you think i will be able to play this adequately?
In answer to your question yes it requires a working knowledge of finger picking, at the least on a basic level but you can work around this by using the chord forms and strumming it with downstrokes it will produce a similar effect and I would suggest a basic course in finger picking given you have a year and a half a lot can be accomplished with some dedication and practice. I purchased a book but I also can read music well enough to learn from the book. This is a tough challenge to be sure for a beginner my advise is get some help from someone who is near you that plays let him or her watch the video and teach it to you.

No one able to help me?
this will take time to explain capo 2nd fret then put 1st finger on 7th fret e string 2nd finger on 9th fret 3rd string and 3rd finger on 2nd string 9th fret then finger pick those three strings and count 123456& then lower your 2nd finger a half fret keeping your other two fingers where they were and repeat the pattern 123456& then bar the G B E strings 7th fret and put your 3rd finger on the 2nd string 9th fret, next 1st finger 1st string 5th fret 2nd finger 3rd string 6th fret and 3rd finger 2nd string 7th fret then 1st finger 3rd string 4th fret 2nd finger 1st string 4th fret and 3rd finger 2nd string 5th fret it looks like a D chord keep your 2nd finger on the string and play the 5th string with your 3rd finger 5th fret then 1st finger 4th fret on the same string this resolves to a simple A shaped chord on the 4th fret. let me know if you get this far good luck with it and finger pick it!

D-Cal, sorry I phrased my answer before thinking about what you initially posted my bad if the key is to high or low I can show you a work around(transposition) I used all bar chords to play along to the song but if your just starting out these may be a little challenging you may want to use a chord chart to find open positions good luck on the song

Re: A simple request (13 replies, posted in Song requests)
This is so easy I cant believe you needed help but here it is | C#m | B | A |//B | an repeats (C# is also called Db) but keep in mind the 4th bar has 2 beats on A and 2 beats on B and the progression repeats over and over. I cannot put a repeat [ : ] sign at the end and beginning of the phrase it turns into a smiley face

Russell that was an amazing ending too last nights Packers Cardinal game. packers had a lot of their best players out on the injured list.
Lots of thrills and hard hitting and in the end it came down to heads or tails who ever won the coin toss was going to win

Great looking setup, Russell ... and knowing you, everything has a purpose and reason for being where it is. This must be a real motivator for your creative juices.
Thanks TF I work with my effects to create the sound I hear in my head and everything is saved, each time I jam some chord structure I use the Trio to add the basic feel I Dont just leave it on one setting once i record a pattern I listen to variations to find the most pleasing and then record that onto my loop machine and transfer that to the Gibson cable when it gets unloaded in my laptop into folders named "ideas in January" and so on these are reviewed later and the most promising are transferred to my Tascam DP 24 for developing further, that's how I roll yes it is work but a labor of love

Re: New Recording Setup (6 replies, posted in Recording)
I was looking at your equipment (its a great looking set-up) and got to wondering about your electric power demand, do you have dedicated circut panel box for that room?
Good question! I took that into account when setting up. I divided the power usage between devices (stomp boxes) and amp heads evenly the right side is on one circuit and the left on another plus I have power strips with circuit breakers for added protection. I also wanted the setup to be user friendly

That's professional looking Russell,I would be lost in all that gear.
It is a lot but I have a lot of fun blending in new sounds, I am always looking for an edge or new ideas and to be honest it takes money (good thing I have good credit with my bank) more to the point I don't own anything which is kind of like life all our possessions are only ours for a while.

Re: Digitech Trio (60 replies, posted in Guitars and accessories)
I finally saved the $$$ and bought the DT Trio.
The guy at the music store gave me some coaching, and I spent Sunday and Monday evening working with it. It was fairly simple to learn (using the manual) but I have to say I wasn't altogether happy with it. When running a clean tone through it, it worked pretty well, although I found the drums and bass to be quite artificial sounding. The main problem came when I started applying various effects. No matter where I put it in the signal path (and trust me ... I tried every possible sequence, including the Effects Loop on my amp) the effects also modified the drums and bass coming out of the Trio. I called the tech at the store, discussed this issue, and he said that was one of the drawbacks with it. I use effects a lot, so this won't do what I want it to.
So I took it back yesterday ...
TF I do not have issues with the effects modifying the Trio I wish you would have looked at my drawing of the routing before shipping it back when first recording a pattern of chords you have to keep it simple with no effects once it is recorded you can add whatever you like but to get a really nice bass and drum pattern the guitar must be dry using only major and minor chord patterns you can add the delay, distortion, chorus and minor 7ths or whatever chord later I wish you would have consulted with me I would have shown you some work arounds and I think you would not have returned it IMO

I needed more room for my equipment for video and recording a friend volunteered to assist after the equipment was in place it took a bit of time to re-rout the power chords and plug all the necessary cables and effects but I did manage to get it ready I have the green screen and lighting in place as well as a pa, the amps for the guitar are stereo which gives a nice spacial sound and a new wrinkle I purchased an Emerson blender for one of my strats ($75.00) it has a paper oil capacitor and full range on the tone knobs so I am wiring it in later.

Can't seem to find chords for this anywhere, but it's a simple and addictive song that I'd like to be able to play.
Should be simple really, there's only about 4 chords in it but looking at the videos on youtube he's using a capo on the 3rd fret so I can't work out what they are! Any help would be much appreciated.
it would help if you provide the link to the video

I'm a Cardinals fan this week, Russ. They've got the division, so it doesn't hurt the Seahawks, but having them beat Green Bay absolutely helps the 'Hawks.
I would be surprised if they played there starters why risk injury if you have it wrapped up that would be the smart move.

Packers kind of sleepwalked there way past the Raiders that offence better get up to speed soon cant keep depending on the defense to bail you out. I don't know what is going on with Lacy one minute he is like a train the next he cant get by the defensive line. The pack needs a good tight end and one more reliable receiver and a healthy offensive line please Santa
