Kona makes 38 different electric guitars.

I'm guessing you're not really looking for help.

Is it a Kona acoustic or a Kona electric?   Single coil pickups are going to buzz a bit.  Specifically, what kind of guitar is it?

What kind of guitar, and what kind of amp?  Anything else in the signal chain?  Any stomp boxes or effects pedals?

The best way to get a free iPad is to go to the iStore and give them about $600.

We open every show with a rendition of that one.  It's way too much fun to play.

I'm in agreement with BGD here.  The Nashville system is great so long as everything is in key, but the instant you do something different you are in immediate need of something else or you are improvising something that might not be apparent to someone else.

If you have an existing monitor/keyboard/mouse, look at the Mac Minis.  They're little aluminum cubes and start at around $600.  You can do a memory upgrade yourself for about 10% of what Apple will charge, too.

I resent the notion that autism played any part in this.  The kid was an asshole, raised by assholes.

Further, a .223 round isn't good for hunting anything larger than coyotes.  It is a varmint rifle, and the differences between it and the Bushmaster are vast.  The Bushmaster *is* an assault rifle, and that term does have meaning.   It is a gas operated weapon with a large magazine.  The various hunting rifles are almost exclusively bolt action with a five or seven round magazine.

This

is not this

You will not get the same rate of fire out of the first that you will the second.  You will not get the same volume of fire from the first as the second.   If you did, the army would never have replaced the M1903 with the M1 Garand.

Assault weapon:  It's a thing.

Tubes are cheap.  It's labor that costs.   I'm guessing you've got 12AX7s in the preamp, and they run about $20 new.   I don't know what would happen if you run it all the way out, but I would expect "not much."   A tube is just a great big transistor that passes current according to an input voltage, so it's not as if you will blow something up or hurt anything on the other side of the amp or input circuits.  If it goes all the way out, all it means is that no current will reach the other side.  It will essentially be "off" or in standby mode.  And since we are talking about the pre-amp tubes, those are something you could replace yourself if you were inclined.  They generally don't need biasing, although if you are driving them to crazy levels they might.

I recently bought a Kustom V50 and it is also obnoxiously loud.  I don't have to drive the tubes to get it to painful levels, and I'm fortunate that my practice spaces are pretty noise complaint safe.    I would like to overdrive it for stages where the amp is running through the PA, though, so I can turn it down and still get that "loud sound."  One of the benefits of this amp is that you can re-tube the power side and not have to re-bias anything, so it's something I can do at home on my bench.

You might hold out for time travel or worm-holes to another dimension or something, though.   Anything is possible.

That.  I love my Macs.   They just work.

I don't love the Apple gadgets, though.  The iPhone and iPad do nothing for me.   I bought a Windows Surface tablet a few weeks ago, though, and absolutely dig that.   It comes with MS Office installed, so I can do actual work with it.

I'll bet he's got some great information for laptops, too, at some links about to show up somewhere....

I gotta confess.  I'm a grinch.  I hate the Christmas hollidays, the music in particular.

But I will confess I have finally been introduced to a Christmas song that I like.

The Dropkick Murphy's "The Season is Upon Us"

Don't know how anyone couldn't like that.

Where did you find one of those?  That's like buying a deluxe buggy whip or Selectric typewriter,  only way cooler.

Peter Gabriel: "Here Comes the Flood"

And oddly enough, that happy little German ditty "99 Luftbaloons" is about nuclear armageddon, if you're interested.

I for one am glad. I could use a nap.

Seriously.  There is a phenomenal old timey alt-country movement happening up here.

There isn't a bad record on this list, and I'm familiar with three of these acts.

See 'em if you can!

It is amazing what a touch of good 'verb will do, ain't it?

Put it on the clean channel, turn the "drive" all the way down, put all the EQ's knobs in the middle position, and turn the reverb and echo knobs to off.  Then turn the mid EQ down some.  Use the master to control your volume, and slowly adjust your reverb up.  Mix to taste.

This isn't a particularly good amp if you want acoustic tones, but you should be able to take out much of the modeling effects if you tweak it a bit.

I used to have a Taurus 669 .357.  I'd like that back for Christmas, too.

I love Spotify.  It's the first free music service I've used that gets it right.  I like Rhapsody, too, but that's only because their offices are directly above mine, and they have live shows in there every now and again.  So I want them to do really well smile

Tascam DP-24 digital recorder.  8 tracks live in a portable unit.

Kel-Tec KSG.  17 rounds of 12 gauge in a bull pup configuration.  Oh yeah.

That's really kind of it.

I love Port Townsend.  The entire peninsula is fantastic.

If you ever make it up this way, you can crash with me.  I get a hotel room at the festival so you can share that, too.  I'm usually working and hardly ever there.

I volunteer here every year.   Largest indoor bluegrass festival in North America and I think the largest west of Telluride.

Zurf, Seldom Scene is one of the headline acts this year, and has been for the last couple if you think you can wander up this way towards the end of February.  I can pick my own crew, and volunteers get four day passes in return.  smile

I don't consider "Christians in a band" to necessarily make for a "Christian band."  Creed is a good example of this.  While they touch on Christian themes, they aren't evangelical like Stryper.  If you go to a Stryper show, you're going to get preached at, because it is ultimately an evangelical event.   If you go to a Creed show,  you're going to see Creed.

I feel the same way about every Tori Amosesque "Why God?!  Why?!" song.  smile
