Neo, this would have to be one of best videos you have put up of a great song done with a good band arrangement. Your 7yo did a real good job on the videoing.

Topic: Don't Need To Be. (6 replies, posted in My local band and me)
This is a song which I composed a few months back which I never thought much of that my Maree and others love. So I thought I better save it for posterity as Maree is usually not much of a fan of my attempts at music. This one was done in a Kiwi Country Rock style with just me and my guitar. Happy Easter everyone.

Re: Price Of Gas (6 replies, posted in Poems)
Good poem there Brian to get people thinking about the price of gas and how the world governments had become partly dependent on Russia for oil and gas . Though I am not sure how to resolve the problem the move by various governments to lower oil production has helped raise the price of fuel. Major Banks and financial institutions in recent times, have been busy making net-zero commitments, they have also become less willing to finance oil and gas projects, and the companies normally responsible for these projects. The supermajors and other large oil and gas players - have themselves stepped on the net-zero path. Here in NZ we have ability to produce some of our own oil but the push against fossil fuel means these valuable options have been shut down. By shutting down American production, the US also gave up its control over the oil price. As a net exporter of oil, the US also supplied the world market. Thus the US had previously a role with both supply and demand. Before now, any time oil prices surged, the US could enter the market with more supply and thus help control prices. Moreover, as a non-OPEC producer, the US had some control over global oil prices.
Every so called environmentally friendly electric vehicle, and most hybrid vehicles, rely on large lithium-ion batteries weighing hundreds of pounds. Typically made with cobalt, nickel, and manganese, among other components, these batteries cost thousands of dollars and come with an environmental burden: the ability a require ingredients sourced from polluting mines and smelters around the world, and they can ultimately contaminate soil and water supplies if improperly disposed. In the rush to embrace this technology, auto companies are adopting the same pretense that has been embraced by the plastics industry: They are claiming that used batteries will be recycled. However, the truth is being swept under the rug. None of the lithium-ion batteries in electric vehicles are recyclable in the same sense that paper, glass, and lead car batteries are. Opps I'm raving on.

Cheers Neo thank you for your good feedback. That 8 track recorder (Tascam 488) looked like a clever piece of kit. looking at the picture I assume it recorded onto a cassette tape.????Your end product with addition of studio drums is a perfect real sharp recording of top quality standard..

Jandal you did easybeat's song real good those seven years have gone quick.
In reply to your question about about my video . The first one I put up I inadvertently used the same song title as easybeats submission for this month so I had to change the text at the beginning. Because of that I had two copies on file and ended up putting up the wrong one up with the wrong title in my rush to get it on youtube and chordie.. It is same video apart from the text as the first one and also in my rush somehow I had edited out part of the song on the first one I put up so a few lines of the song had got left. out . Thank you Jandal for taking the time to have a good listen and watch. I try to make each song as different as pos though my poor playing and vocal skills can make my efforts not always a great listen.

Re: APRIL 2022 - THE WORLD (43 replies, posted in Featured Song of the Month)
Cheers Jandal. I had a spare hour this morning so I quickly put that together. I didn't quiet get it the way I wanted to do the vocal and guitar but decided just to go with it. I double tracked the vocals. I tried to get Maree to do a backing vocal but she wasn't impressed with what I had written. So I decided to do my own backing vocal as I was determined to put something up no matter what.. I should have sung the backing vocal a bit different at the start as it has come out too much like an echo. Being recorded on my laptop and backing vocal on my cellphone means the sound qualities not that great but hopefully it entertains people for a one of listen and watch.. Main vocal and guitar live backing vocal added.

Neo the solo and band version have come out good. Back in 95 sounds like you had a good band going then. Excellent hard hitting lyrics.
Easybeat that is a good rock folk fusion sound you got going on there.

Peatle, thanks so much, I had fun changing the lyrics and trying to make it work for here. I loved this old song of Louis Armstrongs
The two songs I love of Louis Armstrong that always make me feel happy are Hello Dolly and Wonderful World.

Cheers Phill
We made a toast in honour of Connie wonderful life and service to my family with a Bundaberg Ginger Beer. There is a black rum also called Bundaberg or as the Ozzies call it a Bundy. The Bundaberg in the video is a non-alcoholic Ginger Beer from Queensland Australia. With the medication I have been on in recent times I have had at times to stop all alcohol so me and a couple of friends have taken to drinking some cold non-alcoholic drinks. Though I enjoy a few cold Heinekens down at the pub. When my time comes to leave this earth, I would love my family to return my body to nature with an eco-funeral rather than have me under a tombstone. But knowing my family they will prefer my final resting place to be under the earth with a Headstone above. Maree wants our final resting place to be in the same spot. Here in Kiwi land some people are now going for Natural burials also known as eco burials when they die. The unique guiding concept: that is central to this idea is that everything about the cemetery is as ‘natural’ as possible. In essence, they do not introduce anything to the cemetery that would interfere with or pollute environmental processes. For example, to help natural processes, plots are dug only into the active soil layer, the deceased are not embalmed and they are buried in caskets of untreated, sustainable wood. Plots are filled with aerobic, organically active soil, and overplanted with a tree native to the area. The whole cemetery is gradually restored to native bush.. All of the body nutrients and matter are gradually absorbed by the surrounding soil and plants. It is intended that these cemeteries will become permanent bush parks – a living memorial to those buried there, a home for native flora and fauna, and a beautiful place for family and friends to visit.

Thank you Jandle . The last two months I have been busy trying to knock my place back into shape with house maintenance and gardening. Since I got sick in the last five years things got away from me but now I am slowly getting the place back into some sort of good shape. The Conifer was the only plant around our place that we called by a name which was Connie. Maree saw me with my guitar sitting outside and jokingly said aren't you going to write a farewell song to Connie. so I did. The morning fog is clearing here this morning and it looks like we are in for a beautiful 19c Autumn sunny day. I'm looking forward to spending more time out doors today.
