My favorite guitar has a tung oil finished neck. Love it!

This is likely the only time a husband can be so publicly enthused about his wife doing the dishes.

Happy for you both buddy.  To your health!

this is a good read
https://www.buzzfeed.com/reggieugwu/wha … pxGNQn8k6j

excerpts:
"Substantial similarity is a question of whether or not the average listener can tell that one song has been copied from the other. This is the “ordinary observer test,” what Fakler calls “the hallmark of copyright infringement.” The more elements two works have in common, the more likely they are to be ruled substantially similar. Proving substantial similarity in music cases is complicated by the fact that all songs carry two kinds of copyright, for composition and sound recording, that have to be evaluated independently."

"Scènes à faire. If a musical element is very common, like certain chord progressions in blues music, for instance, it falls under what’s called scènes à faire, French for “scenes that must be done,” and can be used without a license. In many cases, the defendant’s lawyers will try to prove that the plaintiff’s work is commonplace and/or didn’t originate with the plaintiff, and that restricting its use would be harmful to the artistic community. This is what Thicke was trying to prove with his witness-stand medley. In the words of his attorney: “No one owns a genre or a groove.”"

A most excellent question.

Jan are we allowed multiple submissions per song per month?

My experience with Morley is similar to yours. They just sound thin. Not sure of your price range, but the Fulltone Clyde Deluxe is simply wonderful.

Here's my crack. Wanted to try and make it a bit more driving. Aux percussionist is my dog playing with her lunch.

Like Puff the Magic Dragon?

We have a copycat in the thread.

I like what you did there. Did you lay all those tracks down manually or how'd you do that?

Sounded great Amy!

Hosted Topdown and Topdawg (I think he said that's his handle on here) for a night full of music, bbq, and every type of alcohol I own. The wife and I were also joined by my brother from another mother Corey (who is a fantastic bassist) and his lovely bride.    Some recaps:
- Sold Guitar Day (sgd) for me.  Jeff bought my pristine but unneeded ES335. Maybe if you ask nice he will post some pics.
- we were going to do June's song of the month but I'm in pretty rough shape following a nasty chest bug, so we just jammed.
- Robert is a huge instigator and I drank way too much.
- Robert also did the dishes so I shouldn't be complaining.
- My daughter was dancing the whole time. Can't wait to see which instrument she picks up.
- Made me long to see all of you at Chordiestock V next year.

It was a great night with good friends. Hope I didn't make a jerk of myself from all the beverages.

Boyd Tinsley. All the players are monsters. Drummer is Carter Beauford, one of the best to ever hold sticks in my opinion.

I love phone recordings.  No way to BS them.

That's a good raw sound bro! Don't over produce it, sounds great.

For those of you who follow the YT guitar lesson guys, I have a question.

Do any of them focus on singing and playing, or are most of those guys just focused on guitar technique?

Think a solo acoustic/ singer songwriter channel would be useful?

Nice fingerstyle!
Didn't know the song, it's a nice discover wink

I checked the original version, and I have to say I prefer your version!
The original is too fast in my opinion. Both are great, but I have a preference for your cover smile
Funny to hear about Neil Young ^^

What a compliment! Thanks!

Ok so Topdown aka Jeff is going to be in Vegas this weekend and we have decided to record June's song. Do y'all want me to embargo it until June 1 or can we fudge a bit? smile

One day I'm going to figure out how to put backing tracks on my stuff. Until then I'll leave it to the experts. Great job Mr Guppy!
