kpshea, hello and welcome to Chordie. As you can see everyone has their favorites when it comes to string choices. Experiment with different brands and gauges to find what sounds and feels best for you. My choices for strings - Elixers on my guitars and martins on my banjo.

Dino, your son and his co-workers deserve a huge THANK YOU for the work they do. We had a snow storm a few years ago and were without power for eight days. Those guys and gals worked non-stop in freezing conditions to get our area back on power. I watched them work down in the holler behind our house, when the power came back on and they drove off to the next site, they recieved cheers and waves from all the families on our mountain as they passed by. May God bless them and keep them safe from harm.

We hit 103 degrees at the airport on saturday, setting a new record high temp. It's hard to work outside, drinking lot of water to stay hydrated and lots of rest breaks in the shade.

Dang, I thought those decoder rings was for real - went out and bought a case of cracker-jacks, thinking I might find a ring in one.

And they say I've got anger managment issues!

BEWARE OF UNCONTROLABLE GAS!!! Keep telling yourself - I will not touch the Martin fund, I will not touch the Martin fund.  BUT, if you can live with the (gasp) Black Takimine, go for it.

I'd like to go back and to everyone I've wronged or hurt and tell them I'm sorry - it would'nt change anything, but I'd feel better about it all.

Always enjoyed listening to Roy on the guitar. My age is showing, I remember him from before the Hee-Haw show.

No it's not just you, I have trouble and very little patience with the ads and freezes, while it does whatever it is doing. It's free so I should'nt complain.

GAS factor is now increased. Must visit local Taylor dealer. Thats a lot of work in wood selection, all for a noble cause. Thanks for posting M.B.

Welcome back HarveyW. I came back to playing guitar after 30 years. Sometimes my fingers hurt, but the pain usually goes away if I just keep playing. My worst problem is cramping in the thumb muscle at the palm of my fretting hand, just have to stop and let it rest a bit. It's great to hear your back playing again.

Good one M.B. Ya had me laughing so much, my wife had to know what was going on. She is a Jane Austen fan.

I'm old school, if ya can't fix it with a wrench or a bigger hammer, I got no use for it. Did'nt have a computer till 2007 and got my first cell phone (a trac phone) in august 2011. Bought the phone (at the wifes request) because I had to make and emergency trip to Pennsylvania. I only use the computer for Chordie and facebook (so I can stay in touch with friends and grandchildren). Can't work on the new cars, ya need to have a code reader to "talk"to the cars computer to find out what electronic gizmo aint workin. It's been said that old Tom aint got much use for the modern world, he should stay on his mountain and just play his guitar on the back porch. Yep, I kinda think they're right.  Hey Beamer, whats a sim card and can it be installed with a cresent wrench and a hammer?

Maxwells silver hammer should come down upon your head for asking me to choose just 1 favorite song. I could'nt even choose just 1 favorite album. It's the Beatles - just gotta love them all.

Hi Jethro, a big welcome to ya from the mountains of southwest Virginia. You picked the best place to come for music, advice and friendship.

I'll keep Tom in my prayers and place him on our prayer list.
