Congrats Zurf on the new guitar, the B chord can be a bear if the action is to high I find that using my pinky instead of my 4th finger is easier when making a B type bar chord

Hi Russ, how you diddling my old mate? It's funny how others hear things in your songs that you cant see or hear yourself? Reggae never occurred to me. I'm sorry I've never heard of Lucky Dooby, sounds like something someone dropped outside a wacky backy shop in Amsterdam
I spelled his name wrong it is Dubey he was very popular in Africa and tragically was shot and killed in a car jacking. I am still kicking this is a song of his that I like it is called "The way it is" I love the feeling of this Reggae beat hell I love all of the song https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aPY0Seo-dWA

Thank you for the kind words Jim
Russell
That was fantastic !
I have never heard that song, and I agree with Roger - no need to listen to the original - this is awesome in it's own. You bring the feelings of the of the heart into every note played and vocalized. Your performance is captivating because the passion you put into it is as if it were the first time the story was told , which is always the best!
Russell,. a really great performance- I enjoyed that a lot.
Thanks for sharingJim

loving the raunchy voice there Russ. i've never heard of this one before either, i have come back and listened a few times and i'm getting to like it. are you playing all the instruments cos i can hear a slide and keyboards and a great sound on the acoustic. looking forward to your new track when it's done.
phill
Phill I am playing the bass, drums, and acoustic +vocal I took the slide, harmonica, and keyboards from the original sound track . my acoustic is a Hohner with a bridge pickup I do get a nice mix on the sound because of the Sony HD music cam it lets me go direct from the Tascam DP24 to the camera that has a compression feature and I plug my headset into the camera to monitor the sound and the sound is added to the video in the camera. This song took a bit of time to learn but well worth it. thanks for giving a look i am waiting on the mix and master service for my new song let ya all know when it gets back.

Roger, TF, Mojo, Jim I first became aware of this song late last year, prior to that I had seen John Hiatt perform with Bonny Raitt on a song he composed "thing called love" and started listening to more of his songs when I came across this song I loved it and decided to learn it. I do thank you all for your warm comments and yes TF the "juices" are still flowing. I have 10 tracks being mixed and mastered professionally on a song I composed a few months ago and am waiting for the results, if good I will send more keep ya all posted on the progress. thanks again for your comments

One of my favorite John Hiatt songs, I added bass and drums along with the vocals and acoustic guitar had a lot of fun learning this it is in 6/4 time. The video was shot with my Sony music cam that takes the audio feed direct from my recorder and mixes it with the video.

Re: New Amp Day (17 replies, posted in Electric)
You know, Russell, theft and vandalism are two of the most demeaning crimes that people debase themselves and their fellow men with. And it really sickens most people like myself when they hear about it, or find out about it, happening to someone who spends the better of their personal time helping others in some friendly social assistance. The kicker in this case is that involved a portion of the subject in which that good person is involved with. I wish there was something we could do to make things better for you and ease not only the material loss you have succumbed to, but also the emotional disappointment you must feel about people in general. Try to remember, in the latter case, that "MOST" people are not like those who belittled you nature. I'm sorry for your loss.

I appreciate your comments Kevin this incident occurred some time ago and although it is in the past every once in a while something triggers the memory but we are only human I survived it.

Re: Finger style (27 replies, posted in Acoustic)
One more thought. This is a video of Andes Segovia who is considered the father of current classical guitar. He was born in 1893 and in1928 Segovia made his American debut in New York City. This is video of him. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2eBnfzngq9Y
What is interesting is he had short stubby large fingers and most of the early players did not have long finger nails. It was unheard of then and the long nails are more of recent trend. You do not need long nails to finger pick. I do concerts and have never had long nails. Today many of those you see with long nails cut some of them from ping pong balls and glue them to their nails and coat them with layers of hardener. They then shape their nails to look more normal. When you look at them they look long yet they look white in color.
My point is any one can learn to play either classical guitar or steel sting guitar without long nails. And as Andes Segovia proved long ago, you can play great with short stubby fingers without long nails. There are no rules on who can learn to finger pick and who can not. You just need to spend the time to practice and learn to play the music you like.
I read somewhere that Segovia used to practice for hours every day well into his old age and the article pointed out he was the 1st to transpose classical music to guitar, I have seen several of his videos and can understand his dedication. Another guitarist I recall hearing was Sebecas(dont no the proper spelling) he played flamenco and was quite excellent.

Re: Boss OC-3 Octave box (6 replies, posted in Guitars and accessories)
Aaaaaah ... that's a problem. The ME-80 has an Octave effect button (Comp/FX1 bank) as well as the pedal effect ... so it plays both the original note and the higher or lower note along with it. I love the -1 setting ... lots 'n' lots of grunt.
Me like grunt this sounds like a perfect name for my new song "Grunt"

Re: Suggest me Guys a good mic for recording & dubbing at reasonable price (10 replies, posted in Recording)
Thanks @Russell_Harding & @Doug_Smith: It seem good mic in reviews and recommendations also. Do you know anything about condenser mic. Are they better then SM58 or you still recommend M58
Condenser mic's are sensitive and require a phantom power unit to work unlike the SM-58 which is a Dynamic mic and requires no special power supply I still would recommend the SM-58

Hello Everyone !!
I need help in buying a good recording and dubbing mic for my video projects. I am still amateur. Please help me guys.
Thanks !!
An all around good dependable and practically unbreakable choice is a Sure SM-58 for around $90 I have owned the same SM-58 for over 25 years and recorded and performed with it, roadies have used them as hammers for building stage gear (no kidding) and they still work but I wouldn't recommend that.
