Thanks for the link Ken. I will be one of those buying the remastered disks. I know it won't be very different but anything Beatles....They just don't make them like that anymore.....

Just mess around with it and do it.  You can get some tabs (which I find hard to figure out) and see how someone else has interpreted passages.

I second that. You really have to "feel" your strum pattern. I've always had a tough time following instructions on how to strum. Use your ear and figure out what sounds best. Create your own version of the song. Have fun with it and if it sounds good to you that's good enough.

Russell,
That is a messed up dream. They say there is a fine line between genuis and madness. Perhaps you stepped on the line!!!!!!! I think wearing a helmet to bed will solve your problem.

The rewards and frustrations walk hand in hand. I don't think this is related to how long you've been playing. Even the most accomplished players need inspiration once in a while. Like mentioned above, playing with more seasoned partners will help a bunch but can be discouraging too. For me, I always try to remember I'm playing because I love to play AND I play like me and only me. If you get discouraged, put it down for a day or 2 you'll be itching to pick it up by then. And it'll start all over again. Play because you love to play and it makes you feel good... it's a state of mind....IMO that's an accomplished player.

Red Sox fan here. It must be tough being a Mets fan...spending all of that dough and getting very little in return AND having to share a town with the Yankees....eeeehhhhhh.

I'm sorry to all his fans but, for me, Dave Matthews

I have a Sabine STX 1100 Ive had it for over 12 years and it is very reliable it uses both battery(9volt) and converter,it has a nice feature you can calibrate it to another instrument that is not 440 hrtz(standard pitch) there are some new tuners that are less expensive and work just as well I think I paid around 60 dollars new back in 1995 smile

I second the Sabine. I have an ST-1000. bought it in 1985. Still works great. What more could you ask for?

I use a Tascam 144 USB interface to do just that. Check out Russell Hardings recording forum for lots of useful info on software and hardware. There's a wealth of info and Russell does a stellar job

Like Doug says nothing is free. By now, I would hope most folks would be wise enough to avoid attachments on email, pop up offers and other obvious virus related stuff. I spent 10 years as an IT guy and it was always the same sort of user who got infected. Common sense goes a long way. Update the antivirus and the operating system and it'll all pass over.

I just got them last week but they are pretty darn good for the money. The can be powered by USB (although I have not tried) and have multiple inputs instead of just the traditional PC 35mm one. I've been using them with my Line 6 POD for a easy to carry around practice amp.

I think I could play just as bad on any of them but I am supposed to pick up a used Epiphone today. My wife doesn't understand why, when the Yamaha she bought me years ago is fine and you can't play but one at a time! I led her to her closet and opened the door and asked; How many pairs of shoes do you see, and how many pairs of feet do you  have? I won! (For now)

Congrats on your victory. If your wife is anything lile mine, your celebration will be short lived

Alesis M1 Active 320's? About 100.00 pretty nice sound.

There are some fine sub 500.00 guitars on the market. Owning a Martin or Taylor is not nearly as important as owning a great playing guitar that fits you.

I also believe you could have restrained from explaining so graphically why you didnt finish this piece

overlooked this fact Sir.

Wanking in a musical sense as in just having fun rather than trying to finish a composition???

Pink Floyd's Wish You Were Here. I could listen to Gilmour's work on Shine on You Crazy Diamond for a few years.

With the amount of hair I lose every month, creating a new style is tough to fathom. I'm going with "what ever it comes out like after the shower". There just isn't enough to care about anymore!!!

Hi Lieven,
I called my friend from our local music shoppe and he gave me the suggested retail prices for the Paul Reed Smith acoustic guitars;

The Tonare Grand   $7,460.00
The Angelus            $5,250.00

Definitely not cheap guitars!!!!!

Peace and Guitars,
SouthPaw41L

Lordy...that's some coin. I stick to my Takamines for that price. I'm not sure with my talent level I deserve a 5000 acoustic.

Hey Doc,
I think I saw those in the Sweetwater catalog that arrived in the mail (they are a US Midwest mail order company). Since they make such a great electric, I'm looking forward to your complete review of the acoustic. I running out of space for guitars myself and my supervisor (who also happens to be my spouse) will kill me if she sees anymore guitar deliveries. Sure would like a high end 12 string though....maybe I'll have it shipped to work and sneak it in...

I think everyone has had a disturbing experience with customer service/call centers at one point or another. I'm not sure about overseas but here in the states, the decline of customer service and just plain old courtesy is in rapid decline. I will spend a few more dollars and patronize a place where the cashier says "thank you". When did people become so busy and self involved that they can no longer hold a door for someone?

I think they are simply just different guitars...Best scenario would be to have one (or two, three) of each! A Les Paul and Strat are simply two different guitars and both absolutely excel at what each does. For blues I think the Strat has the ability to get those really cool growly tones and then just scream with emotion...great for slide work too! For those big heavy power chords and leads (think Gun n Roses) then a Les Paul is really in it's element. Course the exceptions vary as much as the players do. Seem that practically all of the big guns will have a Les Paul, a Strat, a Telecaster, and a hollowbody in their arsenal...even if they play something different most of the time...

But what if you could only have 1???? I say strat.

Russ says it best. I think the Strat is the most flexible of all sound wise. For me it's a;so the most comfortable. I just find myself picking it up more. It's design, shape, versatility and weight make it the choice IMHO
