I'm guessing that the solos are shown as a TAB. So, if you're transposing from G to C, that's up 5 semi-tones, then add 5 onto the numbers shown on the TAB.

I think hmm

Lmao lol

Aye, and I get plenty miles to the gallon on it.

I may just be easily pleased, never having played a "real quality" instrument.

By the way, Ken (sorry for mementarily going off topic), The Alarm are playing 3 nights at King Tuts in November.

Folk are probably fed hearing me rave about my Yamaha APX500. Love it.

I don't know if this is the right place for this, but here goes....

When a song is being played by 2 guitars is it possible for each guitar to play different chords in harmony. If so, how do you determine what the 2nd (harmony) chord should be?

Or is it best advised to have one play the chords and one play the lead?

New ground for me. Cheers.

Russell, I would suggest that your hands are not as small as you make out. Not as small as mine anyway (can't believe I'm having a discussion on mine's  smaller than yours!). What annoys me about the size of MY hands is my inability to get my thumb over the top of the neck to play those F anf F# bass notes. But we are an imaginative breed. If you love it you'll find ways to get round it (usually). Hand size determines how you play many chords and phrases. So it does matter. But only until you find a way of doing what you want to do in a way that suits you. Sounds easy but I'm still trying to find a way of getting those F's  and F#'s that sounds OK.

There is a lot of this on Chordie. I myself played YEARS ago and stopped (wife, family, etc). Started again about 2 1/2 years ago and love it more now than then. I took a while for the old fingers to loosen up and get the chord shapes back again, and the sore fingers was a sweet reminder of my teens.

All the very best,

Embrace the pain. After a while it goes away. You could try smaller gauge strings (thinner), but I'd just keep bashing away, your fingers will harden up in their own time.

How's this?

You'll notice that some are shown like F#/Gb. This means next up from F is F# but is also 1 down from G which is Gb. So F# and Gb are the same thing.

But notice that 1 semi-tone (1 fret) up from B is not B# but C and the same with E to F (i.e. not E# but F).

Hey Anastasiak, what chords are you playing? If it's D, G A7 etc., then you need to put your capo on the 2nd fret.

Nice, guys. I got handed a card and cd on the way out the door. About 2 hours after waking and making everyone's breakfast. My wife and daughter only remembered when my wife said we need to go visit your dad today..... oops.... happy fathers day.

They love me really.

Far too many to think about. But one that always sticks with me is from "Unsafe Building" by The Alarm -

Behind the wardrobe there lies a better life
Burn all your old clothes start again make yourself something new

Also "Caledonia" by Dougie MacLean. Us scots love to sing about missing home when we're still here lol

P.S. Victoria Void XD - Nice to see another Scot on board.

Simply put:

If you want to move the whole thing up 3 semi-tones just put your capo on the 3rd fret and play the same chords as shown without using the transpose tool.

Also, if you find a song where the chords look too dificult to play for your present ability, transpose it DOWN until you have chords you are comfortable with and then put the capo on the corresponding fret. E.g. If you transpose down 3 semi-tones then place the capo on 3rd fret and it will still be in the original key.

I was recentely asked to learn Dancing Queen, to play at my sister's 40th birthday bash. I have never been a fan of ABBA but, WOW, this song has grabbed me by the short and curlies. Funny how that happens.

Bon Jovi are playing Hampden Park, Glasgow, Scotland in June and are looking for a local, un-signed band to open the show. I kid you not!

Without wanting to put a dampner on your visit to backalleymusic, I've found that some big stores tend to neglect the guitars on show. They can be dusty, extremely out of tune and very badly set up (if at all).

I left Glasgow's largest guitar shop disgusted at the state the instruments on show were in.

I guess what I'm saying is be aware that this can happen. A lot of large stores are not interested until they see the cash. Mind you, £400 is quite a wad so they may be nice to you.

Also, if you have any niggly wee doubts about any guitar don't let them talk you into it. Be totally satisfied with your choice. And if you're not, go elsewhere.

Sorry for the negative vibe and all the best when you get down to it. I love guitar shopping!

There is a site called spytunes ( http://spytunes.co.uk/ )which basically just shows video of many songs being played in close up. Great for when you are stuck with how to play part or all of a song. Not a bad site, but my favourite has got to be justinguitar. Like it so much I even made a donation!

I'd say James McCormick smile

The man knocks them out at a phenomenal rate.

I found that if my capo is too tight it has a great effect on the chords as you move the capo up the neck. Try loosening it off. The further up the neck you go you'll need to slacken it just a tad. I try not to have the capo clamped right down onto the fretboard, but just enough pressure to have all strings ringing true. Works for me but i may just have a bad capo.

Probably Rock/Punk, but pretty much anything with guitars. Love guitars! Also love ANYTHING done on an acoustic guitar.

Am I the only one who has a Blank Chordie homepage? I can still see the logo, nav tags and stuff down the left side but the other stuff is missing.

Awesome. In the true sense of the word. I can't even begin to think about playing left handed. Jeez, I'm bad enough right handed.

Keep em rockin, Toney. Nice guitar, by the way.
