Hi 06sc500, my first guitar was an electric and like you I seemed too become a non player after awhile,I went out and bought a cheap acoustic sears guitar.I had a hard time putting it down . I only play certain songs and riffs on my electric even too this day.Seems an acoustic can stand alone by its self.are you playing alone most of the time? that makes a difference also. You may just be an acoustic player.Thats just my thoughts,I am sure you will hear many other members thoughts soon. Yoy may also after some years from now go over too piano,as many guitarist do switch back and forth,as I have gotten a korg pro series.I go back and forth some days I will play guitar and some I will play  the korg.I just went back and re read your post, are you playing atwelve string electric? That could be  A problem, they are alot different then a six string, you can always take off the extra six strings, that will make a huge differance. Sorry you had too wade through the rest of my answer.               dino

Hello all, first of all thank you all for your great comments and replys.Got the guitar today. It is a gibson C8 ,not totally positive as the paper inside is partilly torn away. It is in great shape and sounds too sweet too describe,It seems alot heavier than anything I have picked up latlely. Well I got them two tickets too ride a hot air baloon at a location near san francisco . They Are very excited they  have been and done almost everything and that was one thing they have never done,I plan too take them out too a good restaurant after the ride,                  dino                                                       ps I know when I can not play guitar anymore I will give this too someone who will appreciate the Insturment.[pay it forward]

I belive jim morrison was a concited self indulgent person, who was on heavy drugs and booze most of the time.nevertheless he did put out some of the bestsongs of his era. I still like too listen too alot of them. Seems alot of the bands and performers of that time were into drugs and booze alot.Hey ziggystardust, their is nothing silly about the viet nam  war,I lost alot of friends there.         dino

Hi zoeycatlove, interesting name you have chosen ,I bet you love cats. I have two stands made by Kima and another made by Ultra both seem too do thier job well.I bought them at local guitar stores, they where in the ten too fifteen dollar range,Ithink they might be a little more now as the last one I bought  was about seven years ago. All three adjust well too most guitars, you might want tootake your hondo in when you go shopping. I have a yamaha acoustic,a fender strat, and a Espana  335 Gibson copy. Most stores do carry hard and soft shell cases that should fit your guitar,I have never had too buy on as my guitars came with them. You might try too see if thier is a guitar showcase  store near you,For online I go too musicansfriend.com,good prices on most all items.     dino

Thanks too all of you  for your heartfelt answers.I will get too see it this sunday. The way my friend described it  and the year leads me too belive it may be a gibson C8, I have checked a vintage guitar site, they put the values { money wise that is] starting at $1,500 to $2,300.  he seems too think they would really like the balloon ride,so that is what  I would like too surprise them with,They also love cats so I could donate money too a local animal shelter.  Old doll I really enjoyed the little diddy about fate.                   dino

Hi o6sc500,It sounds more complicated and much more intense then the hendrix version too me. I have seen old video clips of him playing and he was a very intense player, he also used strings that were as big as telephone poles.                                dino

Hi aellarby, I very seldom use a pick on chords,I do when i play riffs but not always.I grew my right thumnail just long enough too play songs comfortably, this may work for you.I am sure some of the other members will chime in here soon and give you some good advice. Mark Knoffler of Dire Straights uses his fingers only and he is considered one of the greatest guitar players around.          dino
