Hi Wayne,
Good job done on this. My bro plays the harp and guitar. I am envious of you both. smile
It's one of those easier said then done instruments.
Keep at it.

Thanks for this Topdown,

What I remember of Peter, Paul and Mary was not only the wonderful harmonizing along with Marys voice, but more that it showed me at a young age that there are different styles of music to admire and listen to other then mainstream music.
RIP Mary

It's gotta feel pretty good to write a tune like this, eh Russ. Funny when the lyrics flow you know it's gonna turn out to be a good piece.
Great job on the mix (as usual) big_smile

I have opened a soundclick account and I will be posting my songs there also. It seems to load faster and is less of a hassle. Also it has an unlimited songcount.
As a lark I called my band lol Ta-Daa
Any previous recordings are remixed for this site.

Gracias

Hi Toney big_smile
Thank You my friend for the kind words and the invite. You can count on it if I ever get your way.
I'm hoping you'll let me know if your ever in my neck of the woods. I may not have the mixer or the PA but I got my axe and a fridge full of wobbly pops with your name on them.

Thanks Again

Hi Lena,

How you can take something as simplistic as a cast iron bench and tell a story with the grace you do is a pretty amazing thing to read. It takes a pretty special person to have the insight you show in your writings. big_smile Kudos

Hi wlbaye, I'm also getting a handle on recording and mixing. A word of advice from a rookie that's learning, try and do all your recording and mixing using headphones. It really does make a world of difference in the quality and final out come. big_smile

Hi Tony,
Nice work on this. I agree with Russ on laying down a Bass line and/or a keyboard. If you don't have the means you should approach someone from the sticky at the top of the recording section.
I was advised a while back to do all recording and mixing using headphones as that will give you an accurate sound. Plug directly into your tower to eliminate the computer speakers if that is what you are doing.
You should post this in the songwriting section with the lyrics cause some might miss it here.

Well Done to You Sir big_smile

Hi selso. I had a quiet listen at work and it sounded good to me. I came home to have a listen but it won't load. I think it must be a setting in my puter as I can't get any myspace vids to load. I'll inquire on another thread.

Good Tune though big_smile I just need to hear it with some volume.

I have to say Thank You to you. The improvements come from advice given by you and Phill and Russ and Roger and the list goes on. What a great, friendly board this is.
Yup...you were right...when recording always record using headphones. The sound is so much gooder and you can hear what's actually going on. big_smile

This last weekend I volunteered my time installing new bathroom partitions at a local Kids Camp. We were enjoying a few wobbly pops and listening to the radio when this good old song came on. Everyone got into it and I can't get it out of my mind so I thought I'd share it with those that haven't heard it and those that know it. It's a classic.
Enjoy

Roger Miller singing "Chug-a-lug"

Check out some of the other links to his tunes. May I suggest "King of the Road" or "Dang Me"

He had a good sense of humor. I believe he past sometime in the nineties.

Thanks for the listen big_smile

Hi Trevor,

I tried to keep it simple so I couldn't screw it up too much. It's a first for harmonizing.
Thanks Again big_smile

Howdy Topdown
If I could only play guitar like John Prine I'd be a happy man.
Appreciate the comments and the listen big_smile
Kenny

Hi wlbaye
Thanks for the listen, the recording was done using Audacity (for some reason it's working now) The guitar was run through my PX5D (Thanks Doc) and the solo violin is off my Yamaha PSR2000 keyboard.
My Cort is capo on the third fret.   212 takes to try and get the guitar.....Phe-e-e-e-e-w.  Close enough. I though I would try out the harmonizing for effect but I think as I listen to it now I should have left it out.
Thanks Again for the comments big_smile
Kenny

Thanks buvvy,
I just recently found out there was a country singer by the same name that met a tragic fate or so I was told. I'll have to check into it.

Is it possible to have "Goodbye Billy Walker now Recorded" in the title to this thread?
