Re: effects loops (11 replies, posted in Guitars and accessories)
I've thought long and hard about this one and I still don't know. I like my FX on the floor in front of me, it helps as they're all stomp boxes anyway. If yours are placed on top of your amp with dial up FX and a foot switch then yeh loop just watch out for hum and buzz. Pedal boards with set FX are best on the floor. It's all convenience really.
Oh they will still be in the floor. I might for fun run a loop for my flanger and digital delay stops through the loop and keep the rp in front. I guess Ill need to shuffle the data sets around again to have non amp models in front, or just make it the pedal board option, its going to give me a lot to play with and figure out. LOLOL

Re: gear addiction (13 replies, posted in Chordie's Chat Corner)
Well Z its older, 70s sound, which is why I didn't go for it. I would have meant still pushing my pedals into it to go the direction I want.
Thanks BGD. I figure I have always been the guy who says ,, My ability don't warrant that kind of power, but you know what? After all is said and done, I just gotta get it! (besides is goes from 1 to 100 watts with full tube saturation!) AND I have a basement surround on 3 sides by dirt LOLOL

I have a question once my new Bugera head gets here, I have never dealt with effects loops.
I have an RP500. Should that run in to the loop or in front of the amp? And then how do I set the send and returns?
Will it still push the tubes if I set it to my TS808 sample or do I need a actual distortion box (as If I really will need one with channel 3!)
I know the delays and color effects will be good , just not sure about the boost type effects.
Any advice would be most welcome. TIA.

my dad was a lorry driver and during school holidays i'd go with him for a day out, so when we got home one night he spotted a young girl in a mini skirt and out of the blue he says; mae goese honna mind lan i penol hi, roughly translated from the Welsh; that girls legs go all the way up to her backside, or words to that effect
My dad us d that one also. I had a female friend in highschool an I mentioned it to her. Lolol she started wearing jeans to my house.lol

OK I think I have GAS covered for a while, but now I have AAS. Amp Addiction syndrome!. so far I have tosssed around a Randel RG 20, a Joyo Mjolnir, Orange Tiny or micro terror and then back to BUGERA.
My heaviest want is the Tri Rec. 3 channels of pure amazing tube power stuffed with 5 x 12AX7 Preamp Tubes: 4 x 6L6 and 2 rectifier tubes !that are changeable with just about any tubes! ($700)
https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/TrirecInf
after that their 333 is pretty appetizing also. same tube changeability but is driven by 4 x EL34 tubes for huge tone - 3-channel preamp design - clean, crunch, and lead - features 4 x 12AX7 tubes for superior versatile tone https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/333XLInf
Sorry for what sounds like an add but man! the tone! Especially when you look a the price of the 20 watt Randall or orange. man! I want! LOLOL

IF YOU EVER WONDERED WHAT HAPPENED TO SGT. SCHULTZ AFTER THE WAR ENDED........
I saw that my new favorite local band (ZERO DOWN) is on a bill in March, I had to see who was the Main act. Its Udo Dirkschneider. For the unknowing, UDO was the lead singer of Accept, but he may have held a different position also?? LOL. (If you dont know Accept, Well, YOU SHOULD! Look them up!)
ACCEPT German Heavy metal band, somewhat like a version of Ac/Dc, Biggest hits BALLS TO THE WALL, LONDON LEATHER BOYS, METAL HEART AND MIDNIGHT MOVER.

Re: Cities to live in? (USA) (13 replies, posted in Chordie's Chat Corner)
Thanks everybody!
I'm still in contact with my US family, most of them live in Columbus, OH. But it's obviously not a coastal city
None of them visited VA beach.
My oldest brother lives in Columbus. It is a great place. Ohio State University, A diverse ethnic scattering, pretty good job outlook from what I can tell.
You have not mentioned your skills aside from your many languages. That in its self will be impressive. you might want to look into jobs with companies that are multinational and promote your linguistic skills. Hire on as a Translator maybe.
Cities as you have heard, are vast, and well honestly most of the EU can fit inside Texas alone LOLOL! Now, I will give you a rundown on the states I have lived in as being military I have moved around a few times. West Virginia (from birth till 15yrs old), Wild and wonderful it is. Dense forest and beautiful land. Draw back, not a lot of employment and Opioids are a large problem, as they are in many states these days. North Carolina (16 -21), another huge state going east to west. Divided into 3 regions. Coastal Plain, the Piedmont, and the Mountains. I grew up the second half of my life in the mountains of NC. Much like West Virginia, Asheville is the main attraction, lots of great schools for university level, Asheville has become very expensive to live in as has much of the mountains.
The Piedmont includes Charlotte, Raleigh/Durham (also known as the medical triangle), and Winston Salem. It has been too long to give you any good job outlooks but primary industry is banking and medical, and manufacturing. There are many more however I don’t have any info on them.
Coastal: I can not tell you a lot, but I did live in a big area called Wilmington NC. I went to school there a bit for university, but I cannot give you much in the way of better information.
Florida. So many options but south FL is very different lifestyle wise than North Florida, then you have ocean side and bay side. N. Florida is pretty much Orlando to the GA border. Jacksonville is very military oriented as there are 3 bases there, there is industry but it’s also been a while since I lived there. Jax (as it’s referred to) sorta is more like very south GA. It’s very hard to explain, you kinda just have to be there and travel around to understand it. South FL is very laid back usually conservative politically, Miami (never been there and a world unto its self LOL)
Now to Texas: it’s almost 50 / 50 politically, I advise staying away from Huston, just don’t like that area. The San Antonio to Austin area is amazing. Full of rich history, German decent people (your Dutch may still come in handy) in the Hill country area. Lots of diversity everywhere. You have the coast to the northern panhandle.
From there we go to the Pacific North West. You can read about Seattle and the industry around there and Portland Oregon. Lots of Tech, Aviation, and commerce.
So for a fairly half descent skimming off the top of my head there you are, I hope this helps

Well the end of New Years day is drawing fast on us. So Let me tell you about my New years eve.
After a day that involved A U-Haul and a 3 pc used furniture set that about kicked my and my 2 sons rear ends, I see a message from Z. It took a few to get settled, but we connected on Skype. I played GBD, and then we saw TopDown trying to join, So although we had no vid from him due to camera problems, he could see us.
We had a lot of fun and it was so good to end the year with two great friends.
This morning I woke up around noon, picked up the bedroom guitar and started jamming. I fried the little solid state thing! So doe that mean a good riff?I put it on Soundcloud. I did add some compression, reverb, and delay in with audacity. The distortion is via, MXR FULL BORE METAL stomp box. Which is a killer pedal!
Glad I had my phone going at the time. Its got a hint of old school Metallica from the 5.98EP.

I find I am having a hard time actually going through with it, though its for same reasons as your NEO, I named my son as a editor for my detail page so it will stay up. Heck just today I met a 17 yr old kid from Serbia who lives in Germany and has amazing technical skill, but needs to learn to hold back and phrasing, I also met a guy who has a brother who works as a guitar tech for Santana. Things like that make it really hard to ditch LOL

Re: SO LONG FACEBOOK (12 replies, posted in Chordie's Chat Corner)
While I dont post telling life details, Ill just say that it was poor judgement on a occasional bad habit that takes me into places on a chat that was my downfall. I just let my fantasy mind get me into trouble and now I need to take a long break from the media.
The good parts of Fb are that I met a lot of very knowledgeable detailers who I have learned a great deal from, reconnected with lots of old friends. and new.
Glad I still have this. I was really getting into the Guitar Zoom page and learning there and sharing there. it is a good group of ppl there also.
