Cameron that "wirey" sound yu get is the sound of new strings, all new strings will sound wirey. I think you get a clearer tone from the wirey sound and elexir strings keep that sound longer than other strings. If you dont like the new sound of string the nthese Elexir strings are not for you.

Hi Shibby,

you can save them in your songbook in chordie. This means it will always be in chopro and you can access it from any computer. You can also print them out in chopro from any computer.
You cannot save it directly onto your computer in chopro format.

Hi Jay,

too modest you are.
Ye play the uke not bad at all, just as good as me lol So it is not high class proffesional uke playing, who says it needs to be to sound good?
Also apart from the Uke playing ye have a good voice which can carry off a song, ye can be not too good on an instrument but with a good voice along side it can change the song.
You play well and sing well so yer not too bad at all and I can see why folk subrscribe. I sometimes wonder why folk subscribe to me too, I just have to accept that folk love me lol

HI Folgerc and welcome to chordie and great first post.

Since you mentioned ac dc using the pipes I can also add a bit of info since I just watched a 10 hour documentary on them last week.
Bon SCott ( bon Scot is short for bonnie scotland but he hated that and got teased for it so he sortened it) Got asked by the producer of TNT album about playing the pipes. He played a wee bit when he was younger so he said ok and played them for rock 'n' roll singer.
But not al the band were from Scotland, Only Malcom, Angus and Bon are scottish. OK 3 out of 5 I guess you could say that early ac dc were scottish then.

Another few great bands that use pipes are Drop kick murphys and a newly found scottish artist I have been told about and love... Brian Mcneill.

hi and welcome.

There should be a tab at the top
"artists" "songs" "public books" my songbook" resources" "forum". click on "my songbook"
if you have made one then it should be in there.
I see a few folk are having some troubles wit htheir songbook tonight, I am having no troubles so hopefully just a wee glitch that will sort itself out.

On writing a song you like

" if you write a song and you like it then someone somewhere in the world will like it too"

meaning if you write a song and you like it then it is a good song for you. After he said this it made me write a lot of songs in the early 90's

David Bowie

hmmm favourite beer?

I like calsberg export a lot, I think maybe because it is the best lager in the world...or so the add says lol

I do not usually go for any tinned beers as ye can taste the metal from it, I like bottles and the liquid from within has to be near freezing cold.

Also I like some ales like "black Gold" or "honey dew"

mostly whisky for me when jamming

Just a guess here but I would say the strings you had before might have been medium gauge.
if the strings are too thin at the nutt they will vibrate at the loose space.

For a short term solution ( if you do not want to get rid of your new strings) you can loosen the strings off and put under the string at the groove a small folded piece of paper. This is fairly easy to do but try and not have the paper too big going near the first fret, try have any spare loose bit nearer the tuning keys.

if you still have your old strings you can take them to a shop and ask them what gauge they are. If not then take your guitar down and ask them if this possible. If not possible just get medium strings next and see what they are like.

And welcome to chordie

whatever you think is a good songbook.

With the songs that are in but also if they have been modified to be correct, having the chords in the right places and words etc.
if you find a songbook with 100 songs in it and you like 90 of them. if you look through all the 90 of them and you think they are all correctly laid out with correct chords in the correct places then I would give that top marks.

If I found one with 100 songs and I didnt like the songs and the chords were wrong and in the wrong places I wouldnt even rate it, or i would rate it a 1.

I got a set of Elixer for £10.70 ( about $ 17.86 or $18.02) from ebay. Normally cost about £18 here for a new set.

I was a bit wary of getting different strings but after my wife got new violin strings at 4 times the amount she had before and made her violin sound better I thought I would get these elixer strings I kept hearing getting advertised on the radio even though they were more than double the price I normally pay.

I put them on over a week ago, I have played the guitar everyday and still the strings sound new.
All strings can last for a very long time but it is the sound that the elixer strings seem to hold more. ye might get 3 brand new sets for the same price but wit helixer strings you chanbge them less often than you would with your cheaper ones.

Like I said I was a bit wary but after little over a week, I have recommended them already to 3 others.

Lovely lyrics Roger,

I blame your lifestyle for these lyrics. lol
It is much easier to write sometihng that you are experiencing ( thats if it is based on your new relationship) if not, damn good song anyway
