kayharley  i have the silk and steel on my accustic and i dont have any problems with the hurting strings, i think possibly you might look at your bridge if it needs adjusting you might have to put a lower one on but make sure it does't alter the strings so they buzz on the neck if this happens theres a truss rod that you need an allen wrench to adjust but before you attempt this i would take it to the music store and let a pro look at it it might be as simple as changing the string height. good luck

a wealthy man lieing in his bed was troubled by his thoughts,he tossed and turrned for hours unable to fall asleep.finiely just before daybreak sleep engulfed him and a vison came to him,so vivid he thought he mad awaken.he found himself standing in front of a store and above the door the sign read"redemtion inc. and  below in italics "everything you need" he opened the door and was greeted"good mornning sir welcome to redemtion" the clerk handed him a flier and pushed a gold shopping cart in front of him and walked away.he opened the flier and inside the list it read "on sale one to a customer the following items":love, honor.joy, humility, health respect, peace, friends, integrity, pureness of heart and inocence, and since he possed none of these things he filled his cart full.at the checkout counter the clerk totaled the contents up"how much asked the man for everthing"? all that you own responded the clerk, the man answered "your price is to high cant you be a little more resonable? "im afraid not the boss isn't very flexable"the man left the items on the counter"i'll come back some other time, dont wait to long said the clerk when he awoke he was disturbed so he went to his vault and fondled his gold and counted his money and was comforted, above a specter held an hourglass and waited silently as the sand filled the bottom.

mrjay if you leave your guitar in open d tuning or any tuning, slide guitar is generaly tuned to a major or minor chord in the open posistion.almost all guitars can handle at least 60lbs of pressure or more before the string snap or the neck cracks so leave your guitar in any tuning you want, chances are you will have to tune up before you play but you do that anyway. johncross21 says if you had two guitars... yes it would simplifie things that is if you can afford another guitar if not tune it anyway you like and leave it till you want to change to standard tuning your guitar is designed to take it so live and play.

i hate to be the harbinger of bad news but the only way to protect your song is with a copyright.keep in mind the copright does not deter anyone from recording your songs if they choose, but it dose give you a leg to sue them and settle out of court.case in point george harrison "my sweet lord was ripped from the song "he's so fine they settled out of court for a undisclosed amount another song by huey lewis "want a new drug" was ripped as the "ghostbusters"song they settled. sending a letter to yourself is not a strong deterant and as evidence in a law suit wont hold much water. if you have doutes check with some free legal advise before proceeding all my song are copywritten it only cost $47.00 and you can copright a whole album as "works by auther"if you list each song separately.
