I have a pick with "Elvis Presley" printed on it. Forgot how I got it.
I bet It did not come from the "King".
If the "Picks Around the World" package ever comes to me. I will add it to what's there along with my C.D.

I've had electric and acoustic 12's. Love the fullness of the sound but the extra tuning and loss of speed as well as inability to string stretch makes them not worth the trouble except on a few certain songs.

I liked it, Marty.
What brand harmonizer are you using?

Thank you so much for sharing that, Arkady.

Here's some South Alabama blues. Yours truly on rhythm and vocal, Randy Michaels on djembe drum, Kurt "Slipperboy"Schnieder on harmonica and THE CASEY 813 on maracas.
Behind us across Fly Creek, you can see my two-tone blue houseboat and to the right of it, my beloved white Contessa 26 sailboat.

I used to work with a saxophone player who played two saxes at the same time-playing two different notes. I was a gimmick but he could make it work on a simple song that was not too rangy.

Play the song slow enough to enable you to make the changes on time.
Play through the whole song. If you miss a change, okay, be on time with the next change. Repeat as many times as necessary until you get it to your satisfaction. Go back and repeat/drill any trouble spots you miss regularly.
Gradually bring the song up to original speed as you improve.
By the time you are so sick of that song, you never ever want to hear it again is about the time you know it and know it right.
Play it for your friends. It's new to them. They never heard you do it even once.
Keep a-rockin',

The chord changes are written above the word in the lyrics where they hit. These are often on the down beat.
The chords at the end of the lyric line change every two beats.
You can figure out where the beats hit by tapping your foot along with the recording.

A1S, I liked that a lot. You did good, buddy.
Like yourself, I am a big Cat Stevens fan. His material is a big challenge for most of us.
"Moon Shadow" is fairly easy to do but I could not get a good enough job on "Morning Has Broken" by myself being only a strummer. The chords were fun though.
"Peace Train" kicked my butt but I was happy when I made my brother cry with "Father and Son".

Most inexperienced guitarists need work on strumming rhythm.
I learned by playing along with a video or record or a song I wanted to learn. Once you have the chord changes down, strum along with the band over and over enough times until you fall into the rhythm of what they are doing.
When it comes to finger picking, you need either a clear video of both the guitarist's hands or a video tutorial to learn.

My friend, John Reno bought one and plays it professionally. He has to fly to gigs often and the "Big Baby" in a soft case will just fit in the overhead bin.
He also bought a Bose personal P.A. system (load it in with just one trip). The guitar sounds great through his new rig. I played it and like the action. The sound is comparable to his two full-size Taylors.

I bought a mid-70's Yamaha FG 350W in a pawn shop for my best buddy for $185. He left it to me when he died.
That was a $300 guitar new and it may not be worth any more now, but I prefer it over any $3,000 guitar I ever tried.

Have our schedule firmed up.
I drive down April 27th. On April 28th, we play at the Friendly Fisherman Seafood Restaurant 1-5 P.M. at 150 John's Pass Boardwalk Place
Madeira Beach, Florida 33708-2625 Phone (U.S.) (941) 627-6025
I'm told it is a nice beach bar and eatery right on the beach near a channel where we can see boats going in and out.
On Friday, April 29th, we play "The Nav-A-Gator" 7-10 P.M.
9700 S.W. Riverview Cir. Acadia, Florida 34269 Phone (U.S.) (941) 627-3474. This is the place I told you guys about last year. Has to be the coolest waterfront bar anywhere.
Saturday, the 30th, we have a private house concert 6-10 P.M. Our hosts told me to bring a bathing suit. They haven't seen me in a bathing suit and no one EVER WILL. A portly geezer needs to wear something close as possible to a circus tent.
Hope to see Topdown while in that part of the world. I owe him a beer or twelve.
