Here are the Allman Brothers (with a newer lineup) playing their tune "Desdemona."

Hope you enjoy.  The guitar work is cray.  https://youtu.be/Liyr9-AJUX0

I might instead bring some musician friends and rent a vrbo by your house

Well I've thought I was coming to the last three.  Assuming my wife isn't having any more babies in the next 1/2 year I'll be there!

Roger I love the Nashville tuning sounds you get.  Do you have guitars permanently set up for that? If so, do they have to be adjusted for it?

Bam!

I change my electrics after 20-25 hours of playing, unless I break a string (which is rare) in which case they all get replaced. I change my acoustics (all steel strings) when they go dead or when the intonation starts going funky, which is generally at least 2x a year even with paper weights.

Interesting stuff. I haven't noodled with a nylon string instrument in years. This is great insight for once I have my new classical instrument. smile

Sounds great Ricky. Really well put together. How did you record? Mic in a room or individual microphones?

I just put a note in Graham's other post about the link issue. Try this: https://youtube.com/watch?v=TZi4DGR8Zfk

Let's see if my mind reader skills are working: Phill initially tried to access the link from his desktop and it didn't work. Then he tried again from his  phone or a tablet, and it worked. Russell you were on your computer which is why you couldn't access it. Am I right? smile

Youtube has a hard time routing people from links that originate on a mobile device when you try and access those mobile links from a desktop. When Graham posted the link, he pulled it from his phone, which is why the beginning of the link is m.youtube.com

You can fix that by deleting "m." from the URL before posting. Then everyone will be able to see it.

With that, here's a link for the computer users: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YqC8p02LREU

And lest it gets lost in our tech troubleshooting: nice piece Graham! You have a great voice man. That little axe is really cool too.

Glad you got your classical back. Here is a hint that will make string  changing easier, and you will not  have to tie your strings. First you cut off the springy part of the string before you install it. The bass strings wrap under one time and they will hold, just be sure they are behind the bridge. Then on the treble stings after you put enough thru the bridge tie a very tight knot. Then put it tough one time and again keep it tight and behind the bridge. It cuts installing string time in half.

Here is a photo showing what it looks like. Bring up the CG102 and then enlarge it and look at the strings at the bridge. This method works and many have changed to it because it can not slip. http://usa.yamaha.com/products/musical- … uct_lineup

To be sure I understand this, are you saying to just loop the bass strings through once with no knot and no winding around itself, just a simple loop through the bridge?

Nice find, Beamer ... I love the sound and feel of my Takamine, and they certainly build solid guitars. Their compensated saddles are a simple proprietary innovation that really helps with intonation.

I was just noticing that....I have never seen a Tak saddle up close I guess. Cool!

I have played classical guitar. I studied it for 4 years in college. Lately, I primarily play steel string (both electric and acoustic). However, I am in the market for a used beginner axe (the wife wants to learn classical guitar) and also a higher end acoustic-electric instrument, as I plan to transition to that when I start playing out, once my solo acoustic sets are ready.

What I liked about 50's, 60's and 70's songs are that the radio stations and marketing agents hadn't done such a refined job of segmenting music.  You could get songs and groups that don't fit anywhere.  Chicago is a good example.  Are the jazz?  Are they rock?  Are they funk?  Are they pop?  The simple answer is "Yes."  Once pop got more and more refined, Chicago proceeded to suck more and more as they set about fitting into the genre.  Johnny Cash is another example.  He's in the Country and the Rock and Roll halls of fame.  Dylan too was folk, pop, and rock all at once.  Now, if you aren't formula, you'd better have a darned good internet marketing campaign.

Well said.

Nope. Never heard that one. Love the 12 string.

But now I have to curse you. I see myself spending far too much time going through all the Mike Masse covers. smile

Everything he does is incredible.  He has the gift.

I went to high school with Buddy Guy's kids. They lived a few blocks away.
I just checked my new home (just moved a few weeks ago). Here is a list:
