Came across Andrew Belle yesterday... Some good stuff to be found smile
"Oh my Stars" by Andrew Belle http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r65gH1te … re=related If your holding your guitar (like you should be smile) you can play along capoed on 4th using C Em Am G

I'm a big fan of the bands that don't really get the "Limelight". Most of the bands I enjoy aren't mainstream, they don't get much ,if any, real airtime or public notice. I like my music chilled, laid back and a little different smile I spend hrs upon hrs searching for these artist but most of what I find is fairly recent (90's to current). So my question is, Who are your favorite "unheard of" bands or artist from yesteryear?? You know,  the ones you got into/liked that never got popular and have been lost to the general public over time. I'd love to find some great "off the radar" acoustic/folk stuff from the 50's-70's.... Heck even the 80's!! So, can any of you guys help me out? smile

Hey Tony, It's been discussed a few times before but we haven't reached any real consensus.... Most seem to be in favor but the details haven't been ironed out yet. Just wanted you to know that we have ,and still are (as far as I know) considering a classifieds section. Per will have to have the final word on the matter though since this is his baby smile

I'm going to the Sam Ash guitar store in Charlotte on Monday.  I called and they told me they have bone saddles and nuts....  We'll see.  I also checked Ebay and there are hundreds listed if you can trust that they are the real thing.   4 sets (saddle and nut) 8 pieces that are already slotted and shaped on Ebay is $23.00 with shipping.  If only I could trust that they are real bone.

Hey Tony the problem with getting from ebay isn't really whether or not they are real but the quality of the bone. It needs to have a consistent density so that all the vibrations/sound is transfered evenly... Cheap saddles can have hard spots causing some strings to ring louder or soft spots causing some strings to not really get heard. This can really mess with your overall tone. Also the kind of bone... Camel, cow, buffalo, etc... The finer aspects of saddle/nut/pin materials can get almost as complex as tonewood discussions smile

+1 on Bob! He's a great guy to deal with and his products are top shelf! http://www.guitarsaddles.com/products.asp

Stewart McDonald is another good source along with Luthiers Mercantile...

Hey Z, There's no need to touch up the finish.  I use a down cut bit with the dremel on a precision router base and the cut is real clean... I then bevel the edges slightly by hand with a small 600 sanding stick before progressing up to 2000. After that I can use a small foam applicator (sort of like a real small foam Q-tip) to just hit the edges and bevel. As long as you're careful there's no spill over to the finish side. If it's laminate I tint a little stain and hit the edges before applying the finish coat to blend the fresh cut so it all matches.... As you can see the process has changed a little since the first one I did.

Just figured I'd share what I was listening to... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RFrIT6-A … re=related Matt's a great artist and has a lot of great songs out there. I've been a big fan for a few years now.

Thanks for the kind words everyone! I've done somewhere between 20-25 now and prices have ranged from $50 for a plain oval to $150 for some of the more detailed ones.... I'm doing a F port (modeled after the fender F) on a vintage fender om acoustic now and it will run the guy about $75..... The work really isn't that bad. I can do most designs in 2-3 hrs. The costs comes mainly from the risk involved and from the specialty tools I've invested in. I don't do this as a business or anything... Mainly just for myself and a few friends...   Didn't want anyone to take the post as an advertisement lol -Pix

C F C G  & repeat.... Then he does a little break staying on C working with a few hammer ons mainly with the middle finger on D string 2nd fret (E note) from open... Then back to the CFCG progression. That carries you through the whole song till the end where he throws in a quick Am to B7 change for like 1 strum each...

For the closest match play C 332010 and barre F

Some claim that the B has even polluted it's neighbors, anyone have hard feelings toward the Bb or B#/C?? or is it all just the B's fault? Or Maybe the real root of all this evil is the A....I hear that's where the others get their start.

Almost certainly.  As did Chairman Mao, Stalin, and Idi Amin.  Though I think Mike Tyson once knocked out the B chord at 1:17 in the second round.

Not sure about the Mike Tyson one... I seem to remember him biting off more than he could chew, so to speak smile

'72... would that be a japan or US model?  US models should range from say $3500 -$4800 depending on condition. Not sure about the UK market though... Possibly more?

I agree that a chat room could hurt the forums.
I'd like to see IM links posted with our avatars showing who is available and offering a direct link to IM with that member.... We have members IM contact info in their profile but I feel if it was posted with the forum posts and you could see who was signed into their IM provider it would stimulate more in depth discussion between members. I know there have been times when I've held back conversation so as not to steal a thread or clog up the forums... Most of the time it's not worth changing pages and doing the whole email thing but if I could just click and IM I think I'd know a lot of members better! Just my .02 -Pix

Hey Dennis and welcome to Chordie! I played through it several times and don't recognize it right off... Can you offer any more clues? Maybe the Genre or the tempo? Do you remember if it was meant for acoustic or electric?

I had one for about a year. Nice unit...   What are you curious about??
It was clean, the affects were good, accurate tuner, decent drum beats, I'd give it a thumbs up.... Never had any trouble at all from it and it was easy to use. Sold it about a year ago though to help finance G.A.S. sad

Hey Amy, Don't know much about the resonator but The Takamini (If you spelled it right wink ) Is a travel sized acoustic electric. Short scale with close (used loosely) to a parlor size body but with more of a dread shape. Surprisingly good tone comes from it and it's a breeze to play. The electronics are basic but not cheap and work very well. Solid cedar top with lam. mahogany back and sides, 1 11/16 neck with a nice profile between a C and D shape...  Here's a pic of my mini

I don't mind a little mojo on mine smile I'm not one to put a whole bunch of money in one and then consider it too pretty to play. If it's here, it's getting the same treatment as any of its less expensive counterparts... They're all built to be played smile Most of my guitars are probably considered mid-range as far as price (500-1000). My Ukes range from $95 on into 4 digits and the expesive one gets played just as hard as the cheaper ones...  I even carry the "good" ones camping and such... Don't get me wrong, I don't abuse my instruments at all and am actually quit careful with them but if I have it it's getting used smile

Thanks Pix,

That one works. Great song but when are we going to here your recording of this song? I am a little tiddly after going to my local so please forgive any spelling mistakes.

Roger

Tiddly is a new one for me smile I like that!

I don't like my voice through the webcam so I never post covers... Well almost never, I have posted 6-7 over the years but always pull them after a few months because I'm just not happy with the results... I'm happy with the results I get when recording through my condensor mic into my digital recorder but have yet to really sit down and figure out how to lay everything out, sync it and up load. I keep going back to it and trying to figure it all out but just end up getting frustrated and saying to heck with it... Especially since I always seem to get a few good tracks into it and then somehow manage to delete all my progress... Maybe one day...

Try this one man.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=35P8G5eaw_k   Happy Birthday!
