Brilliant bug report!

It has actually been reported before, but your good examples made it possible to track this one down and fix it.

Thanks a lot!

You are now in lead in the "Chordie T-shirt"-competition.... bute thare are still 20 days to go.

I think I have been able to nail a bug resulting in "File not found"-errors.

Please report all errors of the type "This file is temporarily unavailiable".

Yes, please update your explorer. I have not testet for IE5, and strange things might happen...

May I suggest you try out Firefox? <a href="http://www.getfirefox.com" target="_blank">http://www.getfirefox.com</a>

Both IE and Firefox should work, but Firefox have some extra functions (stylesheet switching, and find-as-you-type) that is very effective browsing sites like Chordie.

I will buy a Chordie T-shirt(<a href="http&#58;&#47;&#47;www.cafepress.com/chordie" target="_blank">http://www.cafepress.com/chordie</a>) to the best bug report in May!

It will be based on

* Bug severeness

* Clearness in description of the problem (inkl. url and browser version)

vengence1979, you are ahead so far, but it has just started..<img src="images/smiley_icons/icon_wink.gif" border=0 alt="Wink">

Thanks a lot for reporting this.

It is now fixed.

If you see similar errors (or just buttons links that do not work).... Please, please, please do like vengence1979 and report them. This one took me 5 seconds to fix, but I was not able to spot the error myself.

There are people who think they should not complain if things are not perfect, and that I would be offented if they complain. Forget about that! I will not be offended whatever you are reporting. I am happy about all bugreports because they are making the site better.

I don't even get offended by messages like "Your site sucks. Nothing works". It is however a bit hard to fix since I can't tell what "nothing" is. In this case, include a description of "nothing", or ideally an example url to "nothing", and I am very happy... <img src="images/smiley_icons/icon_lol.gif" border=0 alt="Laughing">

Could you please post the url to the song you are talking about?

And the browser you are using

(2 replies, posted in About Chordie)

Copying to Word would ruin the formatting.

I will improve this in the future (meaning: next week), but it will never be perfect. I can not use html/css to control printing perfectly.

You do however have to possibilities:

* Import the song to your songbook, and edit it.

* Scale the page. In IE you can go to "print preview" and use ctrl-mousewheel to make the font-size smaller.

Thanks mxs.

Great to hear about the workaround. I still consider this a bug though, since many people will not find this themselves.

Unfortunately I am not able to debug this myself, since I can not reproduce this error.

I have made a small change (forcing the browser to download the most recent version of the stylesheet). Could you try again, and see if it works directly now?

Thanks for reporting this.

Could you post 1-2 example urls. Urls where you see the error. Please also tell me what browser you are using, and if you are logged in.

You could also use this url as reference:

<a href="http&#58;&#47;&#47;www.chordie.com/chord.pere/teman.com/guitarz/TABs/m/LikeAPrayer.chopro" target="_blank"> http://www.chordie.com/chord.pere/teman … z/TABs/m/L ikeAPrayer.chopro</a>

How does this look when you press "full screen"?

Most likely this is a local cache problem. I am not able to reproduce this on general basis at my site (tested 5-10 songs, and all was normal).

My main priority in the days to come will be to improve formatting of the songs. Both in beautifying the layout, and in making sure more songs can be formatted.

There are almost a million songs in Chordie, and I have only looked at a very small persentage of them. All formatting is (as most of you know) done completely automatically.

What I need is good examples of the following:

* Songs that should be formatted, but isnt today. In general tab-files are presented as plain text, but for some reason this happens to perfectly OK files as well. I need to track down this bug, and I need examples.

* Layout errors. Espesially errors where part of the song is missing, but everything is relevant.

At last, layout ideas. Should the chorus have smaller line height? Should part of the song be indented? Should the chords be red? Anything!! I listen to good ideas. Do not be afraid to tell what you think.

Hi,

Just introducing a new feature: "Full screen view".

If you go to a song, you will find this option on the right hand menu.

This is a feature for those that are sitting in front of their computer playing guitar. You will get a lot more of the song on the the screen, and you will be able to adjust the number of columns and font-size.

Please test, and give me feedback..<img src="images/smiley_icons/icon_smile.gif" border=0 alt="Smile">

Note: Due to the way Chordie is built, it might take a few hours until all songs has this feature enabled.

OK. Im getting several reports on this, and something is definately wrong here.

I have been travelling for two weeks, and have not even browsed Chordie myself in that period. I have just unpacked my bags, and are ready to fix this problem.

What I need is some help from you: Please send me lists of urls that do not work. Send me the url, and a one line description of what is wrong (ie do not load, page not found-error, do not tranpose etc).

This will help me a lot. Please use this form when reporting erronous urls:

<a href="http://www.chordie.com/feedback.php" target="_blank">http://www.chordie.com/feedback.php</a>

Ive already got an excellent list from jbennet1

573

(3 replies, posted in About Chordie)

Could you please post a couple of examples of this.

Please note that about 1/3 of the songs are tabs. These are not formatted. You can however use the filters to hide these.

574

(1 replies, posted in Song requests)

Chordie does not host songs. It is a search engine that formats songs it finds on the internet. There are several reasons for this (most of them legal).

Please read FAQs on chordie's 'Resources' page for a longer explanation.

This also means that NO LYRICS can be posted in this forum.

You are however allowed to post links to songs on the internet, and you are allowed to post one-liners explaining how to play a song.

Any posting of lyrics may result in Chordie having to shut down! I will therefore automatically delete the account (and the songbook) of persons violating this rule, as well as ban their domain from accessing Chordie.

Please report any violation of this rule immediately!

Check your browsers font size settings (View - font-size).
