I went to a flea market today and saw a Mexican Fender Strat with the case for sale for sale. The guy was saying it was worth 375.00 (yeah right), I offered him 150.00. He went to 175.00. I politely thanked him for showing it to him and left it at that. It was a deal at 175.00 but I don`t need another one. I even stayed there a few minutes walking around thinking about it. So I came back empty handed. That`s it.

I read chordie every day. Sometimes my day is so hectic and busy that I don`t have the time to post anything. I have some things going on at home and I have to put guitar on the back burner sometimes. Facebook is what I go on for a couple of hours each night. A lot of chordians are facebook friends and we can get into deeper subjects on that instead of here. Anyone here is welcome on my page and it is more personal than here. this is a great place, but there are limits as to what can be discussed here.

Try before you buy.  I had a full hollow in the 80s. A Fender Coronado and I hated it. Then a few years back I got an Epiphone Studio Dot. I sold it for lack of use.  You may want to think of a semi hollow. Try every kind you can to see if you like it first. Especially at loud volume sitting close to an amp

I never give any thought about the wood except for the fretboard. As long as it sounds good, the wood doesn't matter to me.

Looks great. May get something like that except without the crown.

Your last sentence said it all. If you love to play it then it was worth the expense. I did the same with a fender Duo Sonic. Mine was cosmetic. When it was done I hated the way it felt because of the shorter scale. My daughter loves it and now it is hers. And it is the only one like it. What you have there is a Yamaha Pacifica that is a one of a kind. There is probably no other like it. Enjoy it and play it as much as you want. Hot rodded guitars are so cool because they are one of a kinds.

Truthfully, I never heard of Godin guitars until 2009. When I saw Leonard Cohen playing one on a PBS special. Sorry, I must have led a sheltered life.

Use a hanger meant for hanging guitars. The cheap ones from a hardware store or Wal Mart covered with red vinyl are known to eat through certain guitar finishes.

Good for you. The fun aspect comes first. Nothing is worse than a perfectionist sucking the fun out of a jam session. Hope you have many more

Warm weather is coming soon. Flea Markets and Yard sales will be here soon. I picked up a Silvertone Bass for 50.00. Not a real Silvertone but the newer ones. Still for 50.00 I couldn`t go wrong. Don't rush into anything if it isn`t an emergency. Also on Craigslist, look in the Barter section. Sometimes you can find something there. And like I always say. Research Research Research. It may keep you from getting taken on a cheap instrument

The way dudes asked about is the way Rickenbacker 12-string guitars get their unique sound.  But, as others pointed out, it would require re-working  the nut and bridge slots.  The reason Ricks sound different is that the human ear hears the very slight delay in the picked strings even though the difference is less than a second.  We end to remember the last note  played.  It would be interesting to see if Rickenbacker would be interested in making an acoustic guitar similar to a 360-12.

Rickenbacker makes some great acoustics. They are hard to find and very expensive if you do. Look them up online and you will see.

I look at my guitar as a good friend, something that I communicate with everyday, something that brings me pleasure and provides a creative and emotional outlet. To me, my guitar is an essential part of my everyday life . . . it's hard to imagine all those wonderful guitars being sold off to investors who might not even play the damn things. It's like putting a singer in solitary confinement. Great instruments should be preserved, yes, but not horded like gold coins.

That is so true. Nothing is worse than seeing a fine guitar in the hands of a non-player doing nothing. My guitars are also like good friends.  They are meant to be played. Some have gone up in value since I bought them 30 years ago. But I bought them to play, not as an investment.

I tend to agree it has to feel good short or long I got lucky I found an old Silvertone bass that needed some work I put in new humbucking pickups and lowered the neck action Zurf sent me some light guage bass strings that really worked out well so don't rule out used gear in you quest smile

That`s true about used gear. For the price of new, you can get a better quality used Bass for your money. Sometimes cheaper or for a little bit more. All my higher end equipment was used. The deals are out there, you just have to find them. Take your time and do some research. A little research can save a lot in the long run. Especially if you are dealing with pawn shops or non players that think their equipment is worth a fortune.

Everyone has it right. You are wherever you are supposed to be. I`m 53, started at 21 and I am still learning. I am just a strummer and fingerpicker, but I still like to try different things. I have played lead parts but not good. I don`t stop trying. It is all part of the fun. I only have to answer to me.

How about whichever one feels best to you and not what "Most Pure Bass Players Prefer".

This is more for the older members. How many of us used to look through catalogs when we were young. S&H, Sears, Spiegel, Lafyette, Radio Shack. Sitting there looking at all the cool stuff you wished you could get. Toys, radios, instruments etc, etc.  Now in the present time. How many of us sit there looking at catalogs looking at all the cool stuff we wish we could get. Each month when the Musicians Friend catalog comes, do you sit looking longingly at equipment that you don`t need or can`t afford. Just like looking at the old catalogs from the 60s or 70s.

Everyone else has the right idea. Bend it to your liking. If you screw up, they are cheap enough to replace. It`s not a major part. Actually, I have lost all mine because I remove them right away.

Well the cancer spread to her spine and caused it to collapse. Now she needs a back brace and has to go through radiation treatments. She was doing good for a short time. As for me, I have pretty much accepted the situation. I had to use "Alternative Means" to get to sleep. Now that I am sleeping, I am seeing things more clearly. We are starting to prepare for the inevitable. It`s not good, but it has to be done. That`s it. Just venting a little.

I am so sorry to hear about your loss. Nothing bothers me more than hearing about anyone getting cancer. I wouldn`t wish it on my worst enemy. You have my deepest condolences from the bottom of my heart.

What`s great is that when it is finished, it will be a one of a kind. No others like it. Something you won`t find in a store or catalogue.
