Sometimes the birth of a song develops as you go, so it is with this song. What is important is some nice ideas  developed that will be used to formulate other songs that is all that matters and as long as your having fun doing it then it is time well spent. We did however spend some time working on Kashmir which is coming along fine but it all starts here smile

Had a listen Ark I don't know if it's me but the keys, guitar drown out the vocal which has to much reverb hard to understand your nice lyrics. If it were me I would use this as an intro and bring in the bass and drums at the end or earlier at some point that said it is a fine piece of writing keep singing russ smile

I had some problems earlier with the video so i edited it out  so the 1st verse is missing but overall I didn't feel it distracted from the feeling, "hey these guys were great!"  early Cream, Eric Clapton,Jack Bruce and Ginger Baker inspired a whole generation and this is a classic song from a era in musical history that i identify more with. Gary Klever on drums, Howard Decker on bass and myself, I chose my Gibson Les Paul Deluxe for this song the delay and OD are from my Boss ME-50. My setup is Stereo out to a Marshal with a 12" Bugerio speaker cabinet  don't recall the other amp brand but it has 2 12" speakers on top and 2 on bottom this gives a very full sound that I enjoy. On a side note the band is getting more comfortable playing with each other and we have around 20 songs arranged, still need a few more smile smile

Thanks for your comments on my You Tube channel PJ, one of the things we talked about when we decided to get together was taking a different approach in our treatment of some of the songs (tempo, genre etc.) we did not favor a cookie cutter approach like a cover band which opens the door to a lot of possibilities smile

DE much appreciated, My Les Paul Deluxe has natural sustain and I am getting a nice balance from both amps I have one set on clean and the Marshal on overdrive the Boss ME-50 adds the delay, chorus and overdrive (if needed) smile

Very well done Russell!  Much bluesier and growlier  than the 1965 McCoys version.

Phill my apologies for not answering your post (my senior moment) oddly this song came right out of one of my finger picking books it is an exercise but the base player loved the walking style when I played it for him so we tried it and it turned out ok, the drummer is left handed had after watching the video I too noticed he dropped a stick lol    We will keep it instrumental for the time being Phill our next project is Kashmir by Led Zepplin so that is a challange take care my friend smile

Phill Williams wrote:

hi russ, just had a second listen, played it 1st time on my tablet couldn't hear the bass sounds a lot better on PC. southpaw drummer who can play with one hand!
