Pete, I would not have wanted to be a domestic in NZ, GB, or ANYWHERE. for that matter. In Europe work was from sunup to sundown and one didn't dare complain because there were SO MANY others standing in a queue just waiting to take one's place.

Now we have "sweat shops".

Thanks for explaining further and aroha from the both of us to our Kiwi friends.

Thanks again for helping me out on this one, Easy!

Chords are VERY difficult to play, though. It's a Hal David/Burt Bacharach  tune, if that tells you anything. Oh well, it was a kick hearing it again. Great to hear from the both of you as always. We're in the beginning of a move across town, so if you don't hear from me/us, worry not - we're fine (if a little knackered).

Pete: Very interesting about the NZ Labour Day, my friend. What were the working hours BEFORE they got the 8 hours?

Easybeat Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!! You are CHOICE my friend.

By the way, would you mind giving our friend Pete a holler? I finally got around to getting on Soundcloud, but the ukulele tune wasn't there OR on YT.

Thanks again, Brotha! smile

Hi and Happy Labor Day to all Murkins everywhere! Does any other country celebrate a Labor Day on this day? I don't know of one.

Anyway, I am looking for the original singer of "Everybody's Leavin' Town". I have searched and searched again, but all that shows is "Good Time Charley's Got The Blues" and a version of the original by Jerry Lee Lewis.

Dondra and I are both looking forward to unpacking and the music fits too smile

Question: How does one know when to use a capo? Is it guesswork, try and fail kinda stuff.

"She Who Must Be Obeyed" sends hugs to you and  Janet and ALL of you! smile

Never knew his name, but at 73 and still painting, please Lord, let him stay a while longer. I always loved his work, TF! Another one I liked was  H R Giger. I think the paintings he did were a bit "out there" and some are nightmare-inducing,  and it's funny what you think is cool in your 20's, you don't find so cool in your 60's, but I had to put his name in there because whatever his medium, this guy is awesome at what he does, too. ---- "Pinhead" comes to mind, and I think he may have done the chest-buster in "Alien"....

Sorry for the hijack, TF. Have a great weekend!

...... find that the section of semitones you use most often are:

1. The + semitones

2. The - semitones

3. About even for both

4. I don't transpose

Thanks, and Pete, I know I still owe you a listen over on the Cloud and I'll get there, okay? smile Meanwhile Dondra and I are still "blown away", with the song you sang for the both of us.

Y'all behave till I get back. We're about to move into a smaller apartment, so the two of us will be busy beginning later today.

Thanks

75??????

That's almost as many as The Beatles' releases - when you count the Greatest Hits, compilations of different genres, re-masters, re-masters of remasters,  final re-master "We really mean it this time", The Anthologies, The White Album re-release because someone found a place where Paul pooted in the studio and the other three laughed about it .That one will set you back $100.00 USD because only a finite number were released, and you have to be in a lottery just to stand in line to buy it. And on and on. smile

That's just a little satire, but pretty close to the truth, isn't it, my friend?

I too love Tangerine Dream, (but never realized they had so many albums) especially like their film work - although I could not now tell you one of them. wink

About your review: Are you old enough to remember a now-defunct magazine called "Hi-Fi/Stereo Review" (later they dropped the hi-fi)?

A writer named Nat Hentoff wrote reviews on all genres and they were worded very close to the review you just wrote. You're not him, are you? smile But he didn't just review the music; he went into detail so deep that when you finished reading you felt as if you had actually been in the studio and could speak intelligently about every factor of the recording, how many grooves on the LP*, etc They also reviewed turntables, speakers (Bang-Olafsun were my favorites, but I could never afford them), 8-tracks, etc..

Man! I sure do miss that magazine!  There is a "Stereo Review" now, but nothing like the original.

Thanks for letting me hijack your thread a little, TF. Now going to listen. I'll leave comments on YT.

Thank you, Phill and by the way, that's a Rogue Beatle Bass. The price difference between it ($200.00 USD) and the Höfner authentic is about $1200.00 USD! There's also a little difference in the size...... Maybe in the next life? smile

I had a blue Artcore 75 hollow body which was stolen. It had no tremelo, but man! I loved that guitar!  Big enough to make you look like a pro without actually being one and a beautiful learner guitar.

Dear Guys: I wish I could answer your questions with an enthusiastic YES!, but every time I sit down and get ready to tackle some tabs/chords, something else comes out of nowhere and kicks me in the rear end, and I'm afraid I have gotten a little superstitious. I am sure that those of you who got together at Amy's must have discussed my  ridiculous run of bad luck, and that's the way it is, friends. I have everything I need to play/practice, it's just that I have to set priorities and right now my priority is Dondra and moving us into a smaller place.

I'm sorry if that sounds a bit harsh, I sure don't mean it that way, but "Mr. God" has dealt me some pretty rotten hands lately, and I'm trying to figure it all out.

The one constant throughout all of this has been my Chordian Family, and I love y'all so much and thank you for being here for me.

The Beatles' song "I Don't Want To Spoil The Party (So I'll Go)" comes to mind, but I'm so glad you kind folks won't let me do that.

Do me a favor: Hug your kids and tell them you love them and do it often. If they scratch their heads thinking Mom or Dad have lost their minds, let them. smile

Thank you, dear friend and I am grateful for every one of you. Indeed you all have made the rough seas we have traveled much smoother and given us hope for a better future.

Thanks to you, your Maree and everyone here. I am not ashamed to admit having a few tears rolling down my cheeks while writing this.

Thank You All.

Due to the kindness (you guys are WONDERFUL) of two Chordians I have a new amp and new guitar! Zurf's Fender ("Mini-Me") on the far right and in the middle (and front) from our Amy ("Amy"). I'm not sure, but in French, I believe "Amy" is part of their word for friend.

Thanks again for lifting my spirits!

Hey, Zurf

Got your special delivery (the 15 Fender amp), and couldn't wait to play my rogue 100 bass through it and let so I can olay so that I can it play! Please give me the shipping cost so I can at least pick up that much. As soon as I get a pickup for Amy's guitar pickup (sound hole was too small Dean Markley) I'll see what the Fender will do.

Speaking of, what's supposed to be wrong with it??? I played it and couldn't find a thing!!:) Write me, please and tell me which set-up; to use and I'll try it again.

Thank you again for your generosity, Zurf. It  could not have come at a better time, as our financial situation isn't the best.

Hey Zurf.

Thank you, SIR! and I am sure I can use it - either for my keyboard amp or to run "Amy's"  pickup through. Also, I would never sell or give away a gift to me from a friend and fellow Chordian..

I did  get a notice with a tracking number, so now all I need to do is welcome it home on the 16th.

Thanks again, my friend and everyone!

Hello Friends,

Getting ready to go to church this morning. There are some special folks in the congregation we need to thank. We worked up to it slowly and I think we'll be fine. It's been a tough two months and it will be tough for a while yet, but we're gettin' there. Thanks for YOUR  help as well, friends.

1. Okay, the first part is a song you may or may not know. It's a great tune and maybe someone here will cover it sometime: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-YP3pIPp8P8

2. This is a mini-documentary about this great singer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5j8gucy … 72l29Ad_US

3.  Another great tune. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CuwvMyPaUe0

Have a great rest of the weekend, my friends. Dondra says "Hello" and "God Bless Y'all!"

Ahhh! Finally someone to post with! I hope y'all know how important you are to me and I can see we have some very talented guitarists with us. Doug sent me a "snippet" of a tune he played, but I am always anxious to hear more, so as soon as "Mr. Bad Luck" leaves town, I'll be back for some more listening/critiquing.

Happy Sunday, wherever you are and we send our love as always.

When I finally left "the road" and laid down my sticks (but not the kit, I would still play my drums now and then), I started learning guitar. "Easier to carry", I said to myself, "and I can play for myself and take the occasional "replacement gig" with a band that needs a sit-in".

The learning took a long time with many months in between practices, but then I got into  it a little more, practiced on my 64 Kay (I didn't know about setting the bridge and I swear one had to be Hercules to push those strings down!

One day, I saw a Gretsch "White Falcon" and fell in love. Showed it to my dad, also a musician, who had this to say when I showed him the catalogue: "You buy that one,  son, you'd better sure know how to play it."

Made sense to me, so I "upgraded" to a Harmony.

I believe I may have told this story before, Classical Guitar, but I agree: If ol' Willie can get the sounds out of that banged-up guitar he plays, it sure shouldn't matter what brand I play or how cheap it is, am I good enough to make it sound like I know what I am doing?

Great question my friend!

"Born On The Bayou" comes to mind.

Holding her and always checking on her, it lets me see just how fragile, yet how strong Dondra is.  Amy and everyone, It's no wonder the last word a dying soldier says, is "Mama".

I have never felt so helpless --- all I can do is sit on the side of her bed and let her cry.

Thanks, everyone and please -- have a GREAT time with the real Amy on your get-together.

We send our love
