sha and free bird are both as good as each other. Southern man in my view is one of the crappest songs I've heard. Neil Youngs voice hurts my ears.
Philistine! Neil Young is always listenable (made up word but you know!) SHA and Freebird are both great songs but it amazes me what you can do with 3 chords and a few scales! Check out "An Evening With The Allman Brothers". I borrowed my parents car and this tape from my brother and drove for 45 minutes cos i didn't want to be removed from the zone... it's awesome!
ok lets stir up some confusion and controversy!! I went out for lunch with my good lady wife last week and we had a meal each and half a pint of urine for her (lager to some) and i had a pint of beautiful thick hoppy 5.2% real ale & i paid... £8.49 altogether so it just goes to show we can all be wrong sometimes!!!!
petrol is a rip off since the wwII policy of rationing. The americans went down the route of not putting extra duty on gasoline where the brits knew a good source of usury when they saw it! Actually I think it was a way of helping to pay for rebuilding the infrastructure that was damaged by the war... then they saw that duty was good so they kept it! I am torn as to whether it's a good thing or a bad thing but if it helps to make people think twice about using our precious natural resources rather than squandering the finite maybe it's not as bad as it first seems. Damned inconvenient when you have to buy fuel though!
We just increased the legal age for smoking to 18! That'll stop kids smoking then lol! Bit tough on the 17 year olds who've been smoking legally for a year? I guess somebody didn't think that one through!
Kids'll always smoke, some will stop some will always smoke and some will die from it but the world will keep turning.
I went to Dublin a while ago, beautiful buildings and scenery and parks but don't you feel it's trying a little too hard to meet expectations of what Dublin should be? Fantastic food but everywhere I went for food and drink it was sanitised pub chain fare rather than "traditional ireland". Not complaining as i had a great time.

When you are 13 you want what you think is best for you. When you are a parent you want what you think is best for your children. Unfortunately the two points of view are seldom compatible. I have a 14 year old son who is the most sensible and responsible guy for his age that I know... except when he isn't! It amazes and scares me that I can see so much of myself in him at that age and then I look around at my house and the things in it and my wife of 14 years and I realise that I probably shouldn't really worry so much.

just saw the chordie t-shirts and mugs and stuff and don't they look great? Then checked out the same stuff on the American shop site and the same gear is the same price... in dollars which given the exchange rate means that us europeans are paying double 
I know I am a miserable curmudgeon but, golly, I do feel upset! Think I shall write a song about it...

came away again cos i didn't want to pay...

Big sound in a little venue, can't beat it. Stereophonics at Shepherds Bush Empire, a small theatre venue filled to the brim by the stadium sound of the welsh wizards of the hook, the anthem and the voice! Main concert was fantastic but the encore made my hair stand on end - Kelly Jones with an acoustic guitar. I still grin when I think of it.
Also enjoyed U2 at Brixton Academy 1984, Beautiful South last ever gig 2007, Van Morrison/Bob Dylan 2005, Green Day Milton Keynes Bowl 2005...
and my brother has a chapman stick which is more of a blunt instrument!

I guess modern bands don't really belong in this thread yet... if only because their influence value has yet to be measured. Rolling Stones took the blues by the scruff of the neck and became the biggest earning band of all time. Kept it simple but sounded awesome. Ditto U2, took their unique sound on the road and worked their behinds off for years before breaking through with their 3rd album "War" and spin off video/live album "Under a Blood Red Sky" IMO some of the finest live music recorded. Led Zeppelin did the blues their way and created a whole new sound but pretty much remained the blues. Woody Guthrie, protest singer/folk singer heavily influenced Bob Dylan who through hugely prolific output took that genre to a new level. Neil Young (can't believe nobody mentioned him, especially as "Godfather of Grunge") Took off from the same point as Bob Dylan but went in a different direction, Springsteen also if you listen to stuff like "Blinded By The Light" yep, Springsteen, not Manfred Mann.... omg my head is exploding :cool

I tried it kind of plaintive/english folk with a progression of Dm, C, G, Dm on 1st Verse and it sounded ok. I'd go for more upbeat sound on the second section to match the dreams but your choice, your song, sing it like you mean it and everyone will believe!
Emerson, Lake & Palmer Dude! It's the only way. I'm ancient so i've heard of them and they rock! They also use Drums, Keys and guitar. (good luck cos these guys were the best)!:D
I got an electric for christmas which i love to play. I then bought my wife an electro acoustic which i also love to play. Does this make me cheap or nasty or self serving? I don't care, everyone should play guitar and then there would be no violence.
I have to say i sympathise with you - I can't read tabs either. My son can and it really annoys me so I just play the chords and sing (badly) which he can't do
