Billy Connolly once said of himself, in an uncomfortable situation, that he was as welcome as a fart in a spacesuit.

I know what you mean, topdown. I can remember sitting listening to a new LP for HOURS! Listening, looking at the artwork, reading the notes. HOURS! For one LP!

There are a few albums on iTunes that you have the option of also downloading the artwork and sleeve notes. The last one I got like this was by The Kooks. But, as I say, these are few and far between.

But maybe all is not lost.....

My daughter, who is 11, loves CDs and would MUCH MUCH rather go to a record store and buy a hard copy than the faceless digital spectre. If there are enough of her kind around, then maybe, just maybe, the album artwork will become a standard part of every download.

Or maybe I'm just old and incurably sentimental about these things....

Don't be afraid to let us know what you're thinking, littlebiglad. You may feel you're not ready to share your experience but, believe me, there will always be someone out there going through what you have just got over. Don't be afraid to join the group hug.....

You presume correctly.

Have a read at this.....

I'd say that electric is easier. Easier to fret the strings and therefore easier to barre. But I'd definitely get your acoustic set-up checked out. A good set-up can make a world of a difference. I've said many times on chordie that I am horrified at the condition of the guitars that many stores sell. Poorly set up, not cleaned, wildly out of tune. A good store will have all their guitars well set up and well displayed. Large stores are the worst for this; they're not interested until you're spending a 4 figure sum. Lessons is always a good idea.

Hey bud! The thing I notice is that, like loads of other Youtubers, this guy records this in the bathroom. I've seen this on loads of posted videos. I guess you get a better sound in there.

By the way, what happened to your latest offering? You took it off!

C'mon the Paisley Buddies!!!!!!!!

Hey ApeDoctor, it was fun. A fun song too. It's something I don't do enough of, cos I'm lazy. And Chordie makes it a lot easier. So thanks for the challenge. I just hope it was close enough to set off in the right direction and change any glaring bloopers.

Pretty cool of Mr Dedrick to send you the sheet music. Not a lot of guys would do that. As for "is it?", your on your own, mate. lol

I've tried to explain this a few times...

The way I usually try to explain this to folk is like this...

Listen to the song, and with your strumming hand hit out the rythm, along with the song, on your leg or something. Like pretend drumming, but with one hand. Once you get into the rythm your hand will be bashing out a beat on your leg and you can usually pick up from that what's an down beat (strum) and what's an upbeat (strum).

It's hard to explain without showing you, but it's the best I can do.

If you get the rythm right then it WILL sound like the song. Trust me....

I'd agree with Royce Drake here. Don't buy a cheap, nasty "first guitar". They stink! And they can be very hard to play.

My first was an old nylon string classical which was great for learning the basics on. And not so bad on the fingers. I'd also go for the 3/4 size.

Now you've got me all a quiver. Tha man who inspired me to play guitar plays a black Gibson SJ-200. A beautiful instrument and one I could never dream of being able to afford. I'd love just one day have a touch of one.......Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm........

I just changed strings from the very cheap ones I had lying around to some decent D'addarios and lo and behold my aquired fret buzz has gone. So, in answer to micky the mooch's original question - yes, it would seem you CAN get duff strings. And it has put a smile back on my miserable face.

It's just occurred to me that posting a TAB for this song may not be in the best interests of Chordie so I'll stop right here. Oops!

Thanks again,

I play it most days. Some for only a short time, but at least once a week I could be playing it for a good 3 or 4 hours.

There are a couple of grooves developing in the bridge. This may be my problem. If a decent set of strings doesn't do the trick then I'll take your advice and take it to the pros.

And apologies to micky for hijacking the thread.

Thanks SP,

Same gauge strings, all in correct place. But now a slight fret buzz. Very annoying. Most folk don't notice  but I can hear it like a band saw. I'll get myself some decent quality strings and see if it helps. If not then I'm concerned.

I've used 11's on it since I bought it, although it had 12's on when I got it (about a year and a half ago), which I changed within days. Should I go back to 12's?

I recently changed strings and as a result have a slight fret buzz on my D string about the 3rd - 5th fret. Is this down to duff strings? (they're really quite cheap and have been lying around for a while. I took off elixer nanos and stuck on the only ones i had to hand which have been lying for about a year in the packaging.
