Thanks for the tribute to Joni Mitchell, Neo ... one of my all-time favorite songstresses, who just turned 75 recently. Well done!

I've sometimes wondered why classical guitar strings are always made of nylon, and why nobody had tried flourocarbon for these reasons:

1) For fishing, flourocarbon has much less stretch than nylon, which should equate to tuning stability.
2) It's also a bit harder, which should transfer to a brighter tone.
3) It also has greater tensile strength, which would reduce string breakage problems.
4) Flourocarbon has almost the same refractive index as water, so it's almost completely invisible to fish. I have no idea what benefit this would be for guitar strings. lol

Lo and behold, leave it to La Bella to come up with flourocarbon classical guitar strings. I know CG is a big fan of La Bella's, so I'm hoping either he or another Chordian can provide some intel / opinion about them.

Hello chordie..    I made it back..  my 12 year old laptop died and it took me this long to get back on line,,,   Hope everyone is good...

Thanks  T.F. for keeping the blues fix alive...  c u friday....

Badeye    cool

Soooo glad you're okay, Badeye ... we were a bit concerned. It was actually Classical Guitar that kept us from going through "blues fix withdrawal", and he did a very capable job. Talk to ya Friday, dude!

Nicely done, EB ... really enjoyed your playing and singing; very laid back and mellow. I imagine someone laying on a quiet riverbank and playing this, and just thinking about life in general.

(where do you guys come up with these names??)

Great question, Michael ... Tenement Funster was a nickname slapped on me by a band mate in university days over 40 years ago. It's the title of a song off of Queen's "Sheer Heart Attack" album, and my buddy Alan thought the song's character was descriptive of me ... it stuck.

Great advice from CG. Some of the Jethro Tull stuff I like to play & sing required that same repetition, so I could sing while doing the more intricate picking parts. Once the guitar is on "auto pilot" the singing seems a lot easier to focus on.

Great choice, CG ... thoroughly enjoyed that. And it's a surprisingly clear recording coming from that time period.

Beautiful guitar, Russell ... that Sky Burst Metallic finish is just stunning, and I've always preferred their maple necks to the ebony / rosewood capped ones. I did a bit of reading on it, and discovered that it has noiseless single-coil pickups ... I didn't know such a thing existed. Nice purchase, and may you have many years of enjoyment with it.

I'm thinking about tearing my Traynor YCS50 apart, and making it into a separate head + cabinet. As is, the thing is just too heavy to lug to jam sessions, and I ain't gettin' any younger. sad It's an all-tube 50-watt amp section, so a 2x12 cabinet would be ideal. Instead of using the Celestion Vintage 30's it has now (12 lbs each) I was thinking of using Celestion Neo Creambacks, which are just 4 lbs each.

Do any other Chordians have an amp with Neodymium speakers? The notion of 8 lbs of speakers in total VS 24 lbs is very appealing, but only if they sound good. Any thoughts?

Hello, Michael, and welcome to Chordie.

When a song has more than one version available through Chordie's search engine, you'll see a string of Five Stars just over the Jango Player window on the right-hand side of the page. By default, it'll come up saying "Rated #1 of ___ Versions" for example. If you click the [+] box to the right of the site name where the first version is imported from, it'll take you to the #2 selection ... and so on.

I hope this is helpful; please let us know how it works out.

Karnataka    "Your World"    Bury, England, 2012

Karnataka's "New Light" DVD was released in 2012, filmed while performing at The Met in Bury, England. Housed in the historic Derby Hall (built in the 1840's) it has become a busy venue for concerts and live theatre.  The band features Italian guitarist Enrico Pinno, who has been involved in many projects over his career. The addition of vocalist Hayley Griffiths in 2011, after her successes as a vocalist and Celtic dancer with "Riverdance" and Michael Flatley's "Feet of Flames". She added a welcome stage presence to the group, but both she and Pinno left the group in 2017, leaving founder / bassist Ian Jones with the task of rebuilding again. Seems like a common theme for a lot of groups.

I'm fascinated by these Harp Guitars, and the mental acuity a person would need to play one. Having the bass scale available while playing certainly fills out a tune, and the small harp below provides even more options ... beautiful rendition of a beautiful song.

I really enjoyed that, Neo ... an inventive take on Cohen's work, whose lyrical prowess I've always been a fan of. I love the comment about "Britney Spears terrorism" ... hilarious.

Another great topic, Bill ... as always. My main block to playing more than I do is prioritizing, and unfortunately that puts playing guitar well down the list. I put everything in three columns mentally, to make sure important things don't get ignored:

1) Things I mustdo
Earning income, maintaining household, cars, etc., looking after my wife and family, eat, sleep, etc.

2) Things I shoulddo
Visiting relatives or people in hospital, personal health stuff, church responsibilities, working on my next book, etc.

3) Things I wantto do
Reading, fishing, kayaking, wood working, watching basketball & football (soccer), listening to music, and yes ... playing guitars

While this doesn't give me as much time to play as I'd like (or need) it does keep me hungry to play, which is always a good thing.

Nuttin' wrong with Marshalls or Fenders, TIG. You've got yourself the best of both worlds, i.e, some British crunch and some American twang ... nice set up. Glad you liked the pic of Alex. Hughes & Kettner is abbreviated HK, like the hunter-killers in the "Terminator" movies ... what's that tell us? big_smile

TF ......... haha a good bit of writing, well done you.  How about we get to hear YOU perform it smile

Thanks, Jandle ...

I'm extremely fearful about performing, for substantial personal reasons. Being manic / depressive (bi-polar) has a lot to do with it, 'cuz I never know which TF will pop out of the box in a stressful situation. I was also asked to play at this same Christmas function last year, and backed out the day before.

Very good choice, CG, love that slide sound he uses ... really puts some intensity in the song. Thanks!

TIG ... I've sent Badeye a couple of emails via the Forum mailer, but haven't had a reply. I only know his first name is "Brad", so haven't been able to look him up on line for any other news. I know we all miss him, and hope everything's okay.

That sounds like a great deal, Beamer ... and NOTHING looks as cool as an amp stack. What kind of speakers are in the cab? Bugera's own, or something else? Here's a pic of Rush guitarist Alex Lifeson in front of his Hughes & Kettner "wall" with plastic dinosaurs along the top, and his Barbie Doll "go go dancers" in front of his pedal board ... a certified nut case! lol

Roy was one of my Dad's all-time favorite guitarists, and he'd hush the room whenever Roy was on TV. To CG's comment, Dad would often say that Roy could play a mop if that's all there was around. He's a memorial clip from an appearance on "The Odd Couple".

So fun, Phill ... thanks! My wife's from England (Cromer, on the east coast north of Norwich) and we've been having the Chips VS Crisps debate for 40 years now. big_smile On the side (pun intended) the whole song looks like the perfect diet to keep a person's cholesterol levels at maximum ... thick as molasses.

Excellent work, Russell .. and your new EP MasterBuilt sounds beautiful. For the price, they are one of the nicest all-solid-wood guitars available.
