What is red and white red and white red and white red and white?

Santa falling off the roof!

bearsmith,
Never is a long time. I like my Squire when I'm banging old R&R and it does the trick for me. I have never played an expensive electric so I can't compare. When it comes to getting serious and doing something in public I grab my Yamaha acoustic. With a pickup if needed. Good luck in your choosing.

Bushy,
Get ready! If your fingers are not sore now they will be.
I have determined that my nut could be lowered a little and hopefully ease my fretting but I don't know if I want to try this myself or not. My fear is breaking something while removing the nut.(Plastic I think). I don't know much about my Mando since it came from a Pawn Shop. The name on the head stock is "Abilene". It was made in Korea. An ASM-10 I ran a search and came up empty. Pretty low end I would guess.

Good luck and enjoy!

Well here is your laugh for the day! I hope it works. I am not real familiar with mediafire but if you click the link and then download My first day on Mandolin you should get it.

Not sure what this will lead to but I made a $92 investment and wound up with these. An  Abilene mandolin and a Johnson case. No problems  with either so if I can't learn it I should be able to get my investment back.

How about adopting me?

I sometimes have this problem but I have so much going on in my life I can check on something else and come back to chordie and all is well. A 2 minute wait isn't much for me considering the reward of finding new music.

I can't read music but I think about this. You have "A" "B" "C" "D" "E" "F"G" and your back to "A".Throw in some Flats and some Sharps and that's all you have to work with.
With all the different genres of music and different languages, sooner or later you run out of combinations to come up with new songs.
     Just a thought.

The stool I mentioned actually came from a Doctors examining room. It is padded, has rollers and is adjustable.
I am enjoying the replies. At least we have a conversation going. Thanks for sharing.

My computer chair has failed. It was comfortable, adjustable but not good for playing guitar because it had stationary arms.
I was wondering what type chairs or stools others were using  to multitask. I have a stool which  is great for playing but not for surfing the net. Does anyone have an adjustable (height) chair with no arms or arms that move out of the way?
I can and will run a search but It might be interesting to see what others have found and are using.

Before I deactivated my Facebook account I learned a couple of things.

2. Some Church goers have more faith in their horoscope than the Holy Bible.

Welcome to Chordie. You will probably get more answers if you ask this as a new post since this topic is already in progress. It takes all of us a little while to get the hang of things on here.
Great folks, good advice and a desire to help found here. Again I  say welcome.
(One of my easiest was Josh Turners "Long Black Train")

I think I sometimes suffer from computer burn out. With 3 forums, 2 e-mail addresses, facebook, craigs list and checking to see if I am listed in the obituaries I just get lax sometimes. I delete a lot of e-mails without opening them. I'll be more involved in the winter months. Like others though I do check in nearly every day to see if I can be of help.

Ok, It took me a while to get back here. We had a birthday party for 4 year old Grand daughter Alayna and then had to do the grocery shopping but I am happy to say I am on the laptop.
As was suggested it was on my end. I had "cookies" dissabled so I  gave them more freedom and it seems to have done the trick. Thanks for the help! AL

PS   Ugh ooooh! Just realized I need to download the spell check I have on the desktop!

I finally was able to get me a Laptop and was playing with it and decided to log in to Chordie using my usual information. It got me logged in but I can't access any songbooks. I would like to be able to stay informed while camping or traveling. What am I doing wrong? (The first one that says breathing is gonna get it!!) Thanks in advance,AL
