Don't listen to any of the above posts. I have a sure cure for your arm pain. What you do is go and get you 2 extra large binder clips. Place 1 clip in each hand and practice opening and closing them real fast. Once you have this down and are capable of of doing this 8 to 10 times in a row without any issues you hold 1 in each hand in the open position. At this time you close both eyes, reach up with both hands and clamp those clips to your ear lobes. No more arm pain.

Seriously, the best advice is to back off on whatever you are doing that is stressing your arm(s). Your pain is coming either from the muscle or the tendon. You have to rest your arm and allow it to heal. Some good advice, above.

Welcome to Chordie.

captian.rebeccalee, welcome to chordie. With your permission I will e-mail you the lyrics to CCR's "Who'll Stop The Rain" with chords. The chords will be written above the words were the chord changes occur. The song has a strum pattern of 1 - 2 - & - 3 - & - 4 -& 1.

1= downstrum
& = upstrum.

If you read the lyrics and count the strums (beats) as you listen to the song you will better understand where it shows you to change chords.
This is a easy song to play. The key is in G which is the same as CCR's recording.

Hmmmmmm. What kinda multi-family? I have over 16 years experience in multi-family renovation projects - NATIONWIDE. I was a Vice President / General Superintendant for a company outta Texas (out of buisness, now) and I traveled all over setting up projects. At 1 time I held over 20 General Contractor' license' for the company. Presently I only have a State of Florida, Class B license that's active. Small world.

NELA

I hear ya, TD. The company I'm with now has 3 different jobs that are in liquidated damages. One of them since January. They have lost the bond, are being sued by the owners on 2 different projects. They are not bidding any more work and as they cannot get a bond for another project. The CEO has resigned, the Human Resources Director has resigned, Accounts Payable Director has resigned, two Project Managers have quit, the General Project Superintendent has quit, but everythings fine. I gotta get away from this train wrect before it's too late.

Nela

Well, just got the job offer I was looking for and, even though the $$$$ are a little light, it looks like I will be heading to Shreveport. I guess a cut in pay will be offset by my being a lot closer to my wife's house. I'm working in New Orleans, now, and it's a 300 mile trip home. From Shreveport it will be just under a 100 miles.

Nela

Since I got me a twin brother we both got us a pair of those X-Ray glasses. All they did was kinda made a shadow around what you was looking at. Made everything a little fuzzy.
Them was the good ole days.

I like coffee every morning about 4:30am. I like coffee after a good supper. If I had it I could drink coffee most anytime. And Bluejeep, next time you are hot and dry from the summer heat, try about a half cup of hot coffee.

Had my "face to face" interview on Monday. Everything went well. The Senior Partner was not able to be there but I was told to expect an offer early next week. Now if we can meet on the $$$$$.$$. When I 1st filled out the application I was asked what my salary expections were and I was again asked during a telephone interview as well as the in person interview. Since the talks continue in a positive manner I have high hopes that we can come to terms.

What we are trying to say is to listen to the bass notes of the song. If what you are hearing is - Dum - dum - DUM - dum - DUM - dum - DUM - dum - repeat it would be
                    1        &        2        &        3       &        4         &         1
With a DUM (1) being a down strum
and a dum (&) being a up strum
This would be a basic down and up strum pattern. This pattern will change according to the tempo of the song. You have to listen and train yourself to hear the beat of the song and that will give you the strum pattern. This takes awhile to learn but is not difficult to do. In a 4/4 timing there are several strum patters that can be uses. Listen for the bass as that will give you the down strums. The strum patterns could be per the example above or;
D - D - u - D - u - D - u - repeat or
D - D - u - u - D - u - D - repeat or whatever your are hearing. You can even make up something as long as you are keeping rhythem with the song.

Diabetic myself but never had the "frozen shoulder". I do know that cortisone can "spike" your blood sugar levels but keep in  mind that the doctors know this as well. I have had shoulder problems from a torn rotator cuff that required surgury. I had several cortisone shots in the jiont prior to the surgury but they were only temporary. Each shot would last for a shorter perior of time before the pain came back. The surgury fixed my problem but I have no knowledge of the symptoms your wife is having. Hope you and yours the best - keep us posted.

Start slow, real slow. Most people get theirselves in trouble by trying to advance too quickly. Spend the time to learn your guitar, learn to tune it, learn how to take care of it, how to change strings, get it set up correctly as it will be easier to play. Learn what a tuner is, what a fret is, where's the nut, where's the bridge. Then start with the open chords. Learn the open chords - G, A, C, D, E 1st as they will be your foundation - keep it slow. Once you have this then move on to the next step.

One other thing - decide what type of music you want to play prior to your leaaon and make the instructor aware of that. But keep it slow.

Keep in mind that just because chords are written out over certian words does not mean that thats where you need to change chords. There are a lotta songs out there that are not correct. The best way I have found is to listen to the song while counting the beats or to just strum along to the song while counting and write the number of beats next to the chord. Such as:

After listening your have determined that the strum pattern is D - D - U - D - U - D - repeat pattern. (this is counted as 1 - 2 - & - 3 - & - 4 - & - repeat) Start with the beginning chord - call it C. While strumming the pattern count to yourself 1 - 2 - & - 3 - & - 4 - & - (that's 1) - 1 - 2 - & - 3 - & - 4 - & - (that's 2). Write a 2 beside the C chord. Change to the next chord F and count 1 - 2 - & - 3 - & - 4 - & - (thats 1) 1 - 2 - & - 3 - 4 - & - (thats 2) Write a 2 next the the F and change to G.  Count 1 - 2 - & - 3 - & - 4 - & - (thats 1) write that next to the G chord then back to the C chord and repeat. Kinda follow this thru the entire song. This will work for most songs and once learned the counting will become 2nd nature.

Most days, like this morning, when I check my mail I will have 15 to 20 Mail Returned as undeliverable messages when I ain't sent out anything. Is this happening to anyone else? Any ideas on how to fix the problem without having to change my screen name. Sure would be a pain in da booty to have to do that.

Now if its Dolly, herself, was playing the guitar she would be tuned to playing in  an Open E position using only 1 finger to make the chords. This is due to her long fingernails. So all the root notes would be on the 6th & 5th strings

Key of C
Index finger barring the 5, 4, 3, 2, & 1 strings at the 3rd fret would be a C chord. Do not strum the 6th string.

Index finger barring the 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, & 1 strings at the 1 fret would be a F chord. Strum all 6 strings.

Index finger barring the 6, 5, 4, 3, 2 & 1 strings at the 3rd fret would be a G chord. Strum all 6 strings,

Index finger barring the 5, 4, 3, 2, & 1 strings at the 5th fret would be a D chord. Do not strum the 6th string.

A chord could be played by struming the 5, 4, 3, 2, & 1 strings, only, open or could played by barring all 6 strings at the 5th fret and struming all strings.

This tuning can also be used for slide guitar. Kinda neat, huh?

Ya'll keep everything you got crossed for me. Just got a call from the construction company I interviewed with last Friday (by phone) and I've made the "SHORT LIST". I have a "face to face" interview scheduled for next Monday morning @ 9:00am with the President, Senior Vice President and their General Superintendent. I was told today by their Human Resources Director that they had over 400 appliants for this position so I'm feeling good about meeting with the group I'm scheduled with. The HR Director said that they are very interested. Show me the MONEY.

Ms HannahBeth is correct in everything except for the way of numbering the chords in a progression. HannahBeth - I'm not trying to step on your toes so please don't think I am.

The notes / chords are (Key of C) C - C#/Db - D - D#/Eb - E - F - F#/Gb = G - G#/Ab - A - A#/Bb - B & back to C.
Numbers are -                             1                 2                3   4                 5                6                7                1
Key of C progression would be C - F - G or a 1 - 4 - 5

Between 1 & 2 is a whole step. The 2 would be a minor chord or DM
Between 2 & 3 is a whole step. The 3 would be a minor chord or Em
Between 3 & 4 is a half step. The 4 is a major chord or F
Between 4 and 5 is a whole step. The 5 would be a major chord or G
Between 5 and 6 is a whole step. The 6 would be a minor chord or Am
Between 6 and 7 is a whole step. The 7 would be a diminished chord or Ddim
From the 7 is a half step back to the Key chord and everything repeats from here.

The WS - WS -WH - hs - WS - WS - WS - hs    works for any progression. If you are looking at a song using the Nashville Numbering System the progression would be written out as 1 - 4 - 5 for the major chords. A 2 - 3 or 6 would be a minor chord and a 7 would be a dimished chord.

Anyway this can get confusing but  it gets easier with time.

HannahBeth in a world of Little Wings you will always be a Last_Rebel to me.

Been wearing tri-focal glasses for several years, now. Went the contact route for a while which helped me with distance but not worth caca upclose. No lines, progressive lenses works well. Give um a try.

Deadstring - you better look out. I may be heading to Shreveport. Just had an interview with a construction company located in Minden that I think went well. If I get this position I may be asking you to come out and play. Wish me luck.

Well I'm 6'1" and float between 225 aqnd 230 pounds. Thats down from the 265 pounds I weighed in 2009. I quit drinking about 10 years ago when I finally figured out that my bar tab was equal to my Bass Boat payment on a per monthly basis. Thats way too much money spent to rent beer for such a little while. When I started loosing weight I wanted to get down to about 190 pounds. That was too hard to do. If I maintain anywhere between 220 and 230 I feel good and have excellant stamina. I have what is considered a large frame with wide shoulders so I can carry my weight without any problems. When it comes to eating - I can put it down. As for a diet (and I know its not a good one) I do without breakfast - just somewhere between 4 and 6 cups of coffee, have 1 sandwich for lunch and a decent supper. Still have to have that cookie n milk snack before bed, though. For a 60 year old fart I think I'm doing well.

Hey, Zurf. I'm now at 226 and holding. That's down from 265 in June of 2009 when I had a heart attack. Been holding at this weight for a while, now, so I don't know if I'll get any lower. My goal was to get to the 200 / 210 mark. Thats 36 pounds that I've been able to keep off for 2 years so I'm happy with that.
