Do you plan on putting this to music. It certainly could be a beautiful lyric. Perhaps something in a minor 7th flavor?

Thanks for the laugh.

Good luck! I have the same performance reservations (and fat, balding limitations!!!). Try to focus on how proud you can be of what you've done when it's over (they say that works?). Or do as I do...screw it up bad and sweat profusely.

I think every one's first electric should be a Fender (or a quality copy of) Telecaster or Stratocaster. The are flexible with respect to styles of music. Your budget will allow any of the above in a Fender but Mexican made. Opinions vary on how they stand up vs. American made. Fender Mexican made Tele would run right about that new and 200.00 cheaper used and would serve your country and rock and roll desires very well. And the Tele is sweet to play

Steve,
When do I call Ab G#? Is it dependent on the key I'm in?

Selso in this forum there is a topic at the top in gray "members willing to help" it lists producers musicians etc that have volunteered to help just pick one and email them and ask if they have time to do this project smile

This may sound like a stupid question, but do I send them the audiocity version or the converted mp3?

Export them as WAVs and send them that.  It's a lot more file to move, but you don't lose any fidelity.

I'd be interested in seeing what I can do with Reaper.

Jerome is right wavs are a lot less lossy but , again, you'll never get them through email servers. You'll have to use file sharing or FTP (check out mediafire.com for file sharing...it works fairly well(.

Like Doug says above, if it's a condenser you'll need phantom power.

Doc,
If you're not familiar with Rush you should definitely check them out. Very talented, underrated band. They did fall into sort of a synth sound in the 90's but listen to 2112. Very, very accomplished stuff.

You can export "selected" to mp3...do that for each track and send individually. Wavs are better but will never pass through email, so mp3's are probably your best bet

What software are you using to record? Are you doing it all in one track or more than one track?

I do not own an Artcore but researched them recently as they seem like a good deal and I too was loooking for a jazz style guitar. It's a strange model with respect to reviews. The reviews are all over the place; some folks love them some folks hate them. I've seen reviews that are extremely negative and glowing....strange. What I discerned from that was there may be a quality issue in that some turn out great others not so much. My only advice is make sure you play it before you buy it. I know there are some chordians that own this guitar (maybe Guitarpix???) so hopefully they'll chime in. I'd just be careful about buying one on line (as is always the case).

i hoping to buy a new electric guitar soon.
any suggestions??
(it cant be too expensive)

Hi FretShredder and welcome to Chordie. My advice to you is this; go to your local music store totally blind to the names painted on the headstock of all guitars. Play all of the guitars within your budgeted amount. Purchase the guitar that sounds and feels the best to you.

SouthPaw41L

I second that. Play as many as you can and don't get caught up in the name game

Rebel, are you planning to play this like a regular guitar or flat on your lap with a slide? Reason I ask is Dobro is synonymous with lap playing. Usually the nut is changed to give a high action but the make seems to recommend itself to the country/bluegrass lap styles. Excuse me if this isn't what you're up to, I believe Dobros are fine guitars in any use (never seen one in the flesh though).

I thought the round neck was Spanish Style and the square neck was the lap style????

Modest Mouse just put out a new single. It's been a while. They are a great, great band. I think they're what The Talking Heads could have been. I'm glad to see you're digging them. Lots of fun.

Well I tried my hand a little bit last night, and even though this one was around 150$ it has an amazing sound. I don't think its quite the same as these as with other guitars: I mean you know if you spend the money on a Taylor or Martin you're pretty much guaranteed an amazing instrument. But with dobros I don't think its the price or brand that matters.
Love love LOVE the sound of this thing, I have no idea what doing but it still sounds so cool.

Thanks...now I want one. (or maybe I shouldn't say thanks!!!)

Been looking at cheap ones myself. I always get cheap stuff first then if I like it I can upgrade. Be sure to post your "adventures"; I'll be curous to see how much you like it.

Check out Storm Cases (google should lead you there). I use them and find them superior to Pelican and not any more expensive. Any good case is an investment. Unfortunately, they're all pretty expensive.

For me always melody first. Words come easy for me; melody not so much. I'm not sure I ever started with lyrics.

Sad story. If you can't trust the local guys who can you trust? I'm assuming this isn't a chain store. If it is then good luck; no sense in trying to get resolution, the chains just couldn't care less. At GC, I bought a Line 6 Pod. The 1st one didn't work, the second one was cracked and the third one's serial number had already been registered to another person on line 6's site. Upon complaining at the store level about buying used product sold as new I was directed to call customer support. I called and sent an email. They just flat out didn't care. I will never shop there again and tell my tale to all that will listen.
Sorry for the rant...I just wanted you to know that I know how you feel.

David,
Yes they are a little heavier. I wouldn't say significantly. I don't play out so it's a non-issue with me. I will say I am a HUGE fan of Agile. If you're playing a Les Paul instead of a Strat you've already committed to "the load"; that is the extra guitar weight.I have a 2500 with EMG 85/81 pick ups. I got it for a steal. The AL2000 is $199.00 US. They are quality built. IMO the best value in electric guitars. If you buy through Rondo his return policy is the best in the business.
