HI Micky

yep you can use a guitar tuner. it will still get the note.

Also a word on tuning the Uke if it is new. You will find it goes out of tune a lot for a little while but once the string settle it is not bad. Not as good as a guitar at staying in tune though.

micky,

I got a cheap Uke ( £12-£15) my wife calls it a toy lol
it does the job. You can get more expensive ones but for learning on and practicing mine is not bad at all. I am happy with it.

As for learning both at the same time? why not?, go for it.

BUt if like me, you might get confused wit hchords if you go from one to the other within 5 minutes. a G on the Uke is the same shape as a D on the guitar, so sometimes instesad of playing a D on the uke I end up play a G.

A few good Uke sites are listed on "other instruments" section with chords and songs, but ye can get more songs in chordie.

HI Donna,

Is this what it looks like when you move it into your songbook?

http://www.chordie.com/chord.pere/www.g … 19801.html

If you have taken it from someone elses songbook it might be going back to the original way it is shown in chordie.

I would really need a link from where you had the song in D to move it into your songbook so i could do what you have done. This is so I can see hopefully exactly what you are seeing.
If you can find the songbook it was in and click on your address bar, right click, copy and then paste the link in a reply here.

cheers

I saw he was playing glasgow soon, I was thinking about it.
I will think a bit more as I look up when exactly he is playing.

I got into his music when he was in that program in the 80's " the gambler". I still love that song and still strum it out every now and then. ( mostly to annoy my wife. She hates him)

and no one but no one can say they dont like singing "Ye pickjed a fine time to leave me" or OHH Ruuuuuuuuuby, dont take......"

I just refuse to believe anyone has not got their feet tapping when ruby is on, it is an all time classic.

More I tihnk about it, more I want to go.

Thanks

I don't know... you can't mess with perfection you know. The stooges were just great,  but I'm not sure if anyody can pull it off in our modern age.

in a way I agree but remakes have been really good, even if I tohught the original was the better.
i.e "time machine"  a classic film made??????? then about 5,6 7? years ago they made a new one, nearly the exact same scenery, script etc played buy guy ???????. My wife had never seen the original and loved this.
The likely lads, a classic liverpool comedy was redone by ant and dec, I tihnk they done ok.

So If you watch the new one you have to try and pretend it is new and you have never seen an older version. Bit hard to do sometimes.

I will be looking forward to this if it is ever made.
I would also like to see some Laurel and Hardy films and abbot and costello, superb films

Selso,

Apart from what you already know.

If you want to quote someone but it was in a different section just copy and paste what you want, or you want to quote someone famous, Andy Murray ( the scottish tennis player) for instance.

you would type this.
    +quote=Andy Murray+Im going to be world champion+/quote+

but replace the +'s with [     ]

so it looks like this

Andy Murray wrote:

im going to be champion by the end of the year

Hi 78 Cade,

could you give a link to the song you are adding to your songbook so i can try thsi out and see.
Are you transposing it before you are adding? Or is it all just totally different when it is added?

We should be able to do sometihng about this.

hi dhani,

yes this does happen but it is not chordie's fault.

People do not post songs onto chordie. Chordie works as a search engine and gets the songs from other sites.
If you read frequently asked questions in resources it explains a lot.

Welcome to chordie

With a name like that it looks like spam lol

I got told last week about this website and so far I like it.

www.spotify.com

You can listen to music free and legally online.
It does not download it on to your computer but you can have play lists.
Before U2's new album was released in the shops it was on this site.

there is one drawback ( had to be) Every now and then, maybe on the 8th song of an album it will advertise something else during the song. But for free legal music for the sake of an advert through a song I think it is good.

you could check out www.spotify no need to pay anything and get lots of music for free.

Think it is time to let everyone know about this

I just counted out of interest all the chords I know.
I counted 34 I could play but not neccessarily can name them all. If I had to name them all I think it might go down to about 27ish

4 chords is enough for anyone though lol

Ken

heather, I just remembered, lol I read an email yesterday... sorry. will reply soon, ah I will do it here,

THANK YOU!!! had a great time.

heyseed dixie are superb and live on stage they are great fun to watch as well as to listen to. The mandolin player plays his instrument as angus young plays his guitar. Pure mental.

i know nothing about basketball apart from memories of the globe trotters in early 80's or late 70's and getting a few games during P.E in school.
I liked it a lot before.
Sometimes I wish american sports such as this were bigger in the UK.
we have a team " the scottish rocks" but I dont know anything else about them or the sport in the UK.

Also baseball, I tihnk we should have that too.

whoever you are supporting, I hope you enjoy watching yer games

Phill Williams wrote:

then we come to poems being songs without music, like i said on the poem section elton john and bernie taupin got together by luck, and there's nothing to say that it couldn't happen here, after all there is probably truck loads of composers out there looking for a good verse to get them going.

when your a writer your a writer, songs poems books...your a writer

phill

Phill, very true indeed, a really good argument for having a poems/lyrics section.

we could have two or three folk here that could start a superb band with someones lyrics along with guitars playing and a band...whatever...
and if we have and they realise that they work well together and make something for themselves then it has to be a good thing.
And even if they dont make it big or even get noticed but have fun doing what they do then it is a good thing.
I know i look in the poetry section while having my guitar at hand sometimes, still havnt foud something I can say I have found music to that I would love to sing, but others might and I might yet still hopefully.
I have a presonal mission to do this now. But wit hme being a bit lazy sometimes and not finding time it might take a while.

I dont tihnk there is any need to rename anything, even though it would be easy I think,
Also under the heading "poetry" in the poetry section this is typed

The place for poems and lyrics that are not yet ready to become songs to be shared and discussed.

so that just about covers it.

I do think though what Southpaw is saying. There has been a decline in the number of songs getting posted.

lol

Good on yer men on doing it Lena, was a fantastic game to watch.
They have won since 1948 but they have not done the grand slam since then. they won the tournament then known as the 5 nations in 1985, 1974, 1982, 1948, 1949 and 1951
they jointly won it with France in 1983 and also the only time it has been a five way tie with all nations participating was in 1973.
it was uncomplete in 1972 after Scotland and Wales refused to play in Dublin.

ok enough of the rugby history lol
Well done to them and I hope all the irish enjoyed their celebrations last night, today, tomorrow, tuesday, wednesday, etc lol

It has been 10 years since Scotland won it, 10 years too long!!

This is the loch I fish in and I was planning to go out in a boat this year, but i would not be drinking if in charge of the baot nor would I be in the boat with anyone in charge of the boat.

Ken

hi bert and welcome.

You cannot change the name of the songs in your songbook.
You can change chords/lyrics in the song by going to "edit" which is found when you click on your songbook. To the right of each song the edit option is there but it will not let you change the name of the song.

If a song is named wrongly and you want it changed you would have to take that up wit hthe original source it came from. Chordie does not host the songs, it takes each song from other web sites. If you click on original source it will take you to where chordie gets it from, but you will notice the song in the original site is not as good looking or laid out as they are on chordie ( personal opinion of mine)

what song were you wanting to change and why?
