Hi Grah. Although you're really only just out of surgery and can't expect to be back to your old self yet. I wonder if swapping the blue skies and warm sunshine of Crete for cold wet grey Settle may have something to do with it. If were lucky enough to get any summer this year, maybe a ride on the train from Settle to Carlisle, through all that amazing countryside may kick start you back into action.

While doing a bit of research into my favourite subject I've been asking a few brewers, in both small and national breweries about GMO's in my pint. Their seems to be no industry standard. In the UK, any foods that contain gmo's have strict limits and have to be clearly labeled, not so it would seem with the brewing industry. The only reply I received was from Molson Coors that came in pdf format. They tell me that no gmo ingredients are used in their European operations as all their products are purchased over here, and as yet these products are gmo free. In North America it's a very different story. Although I realise the risk is very slight, far less than the alcohol I wonder what the effects on mum's to be could occur. Ps if you see a pump on the bar of your local serving a brew called Round up by Monsanto, give it a miss.

Congratulations, looks like you're going to be busy for a while. You'd better get some sleep before your new lead vocalist starts practicing.

I was advised by the bloke in the shop to tune either a semitone or even a full tone lower then use the capo. This is supposed to ease the stress on the neck, do any of you do that?

Re: Anyone play harmonica? (32 replies, posted in Other string instruments)
First time I been here. I have 2 mouth organs, one in C, the other in something else. Not to difficult to play as usual it's just practice. Also have a few acoustic guitars that I can play ish. Now playing mouth organ and guitar together I find that impossible, as a life long Rustie (admirer of Neil Youngs work). I find it so frustrating when he makes it look so easy. The other subject close to my heart, beer. I wonder if it's possible to drink a pint while playing mouth organ.

Hi road66warrier. Soon after starting this post I also purchased a G7 . It cost me £25, so I suppose that's about inline with what you paid. A nice tool and I took note of what NELA said about retuning when it's fitted. Next job is re stringing. Anyone got any tips?

Hello S P. Glad to learn that you swapped the chainsaw for a guitar.
Do you use a capo? A great little tool that helps you move around the fretboard and allows you to experiment with different sounds. Somewhere among these pages is even a capo conversion chart that tells you what your playing when you capo different frets.
Welcome to Chordie.

I've been with the same woman since the hot summer of 76. I've had guitars a fair bit longer. When the missus starts to moan about how much time I spend with them i tell her, i still enjoy playing with them in the bedroom, that sort of ends the conversation.
Ps please don't let her know I told you.

Did something very similar a few weeks back, passing a second hand shop I saw a Freshman 12er looking all seductive. Had to have it, the missus says I wasn't very good on the 6er but now I'm twice as bad.
Have fun Roger.

Hi UJB. After reading your post I had a look on the net to see if it was available in the UK. Unfortunately it's only available in the eastern USA, it's a pity as I have a preference for dark beers, and their looked to be a couple of interesting ones
Thanks for your post.

Topic: How long to write a song (6 replies, posted in Songwriting)
How much time do you spend writing a song, do you keep revisiting? As I like to write about current topics, like the migrant crisis, politics (yawn) or just a protest song. I find that I have to lay the lyrics down in one sitting of not more than a couple of hours. I tend to find if I leave a song, lets say overnight, I've lost the thread, the mood has changed. And I just end up with a few lines in a scrapbook.
I would be interested to know how long you take over your songwriting.
