selso,
My favorite of your tunes is the "Never Cared Too Much For Hippies". That's a kick booty tune. I can relate! Hope all's well with you and yours.

For you serious guitar players out there you should heed my advice here;
Catfish:
Guitar player can catch 'em but booking agent/manager/guitar technician/groupie/cousin/sister/brother/ really drunk friend MUST remove fish from hook/lure!!!!
Those poisonous whiskers will put a quick end to a potential big money payin' gig. Take good care of your hands!!!! Better safe than sorry, and it's better to be thought of and called a sissy boy who is afraid to handle an evil catfish than to grab ole devil sticker fish, get stuck 2" into palm of fretting hand, go to ER, miss weekend gigs, and have friends say, " that dude's tough as steel but dumber than a rock"....................
I don't fish much anymore.
My first post and Hello all. I am not new to forums but I am new to belonging and posting on a forum, even though I've had a computer since '98 so this post will "break my (fruit)", so to speak. I wonder if there is a site that has chord charts for open E and other open tunings. Chordie may have this and I haven't delved deep enough to find it. Thanks
......or give this site a look;

Now there's a combination! Reminds me of a bluegrass concert. There's always a few songs about the merits of home-made whiskey, and there's always a few songs about the Lord. And you just KNOW that the fellows singing mean every single word of both kind of songs.

Hey Zurf the funny thing is I try to play each of their songs with a Bluegrass style. Some of it works out pretty good.
Any music can be done via bluegrass interpretation. Just one example here;

I don't know the names of all the electronic gizmos or the difference between any of them, it looks like little pieces of plastic to me. Anyone feel like explaining?

"Winners don't quit and quitters don't win!"
My choice is a magical CD that each time I engage said CD, I am granted my every wish and want that is in my id, ego, and super ego, be they beneficial or harmful to my physical shell..................
i.e.; PLAYIN' GIGS WHILE NOT IN TOP VOICE( back to the topic of the post)
It's inevitable, if you play often enough( and you do the main haul of the vocals) you're gonna lose your voice.
What I do when this happens to me is this; alert the brass( top management, paycheck writing, cash delegating person) at the venue I'm scheduled to play and let 'em know that there'll be no vocals, instrumental songs ONLY! . This gives the venue an opportunity to replace me if they feel the need to do so. While at the same time, I cover myself and remain in good standing with said establishment for future gigs by showing honesty and a willingness to keep the show going regardless of how lousy I feel. And repeat business is crucial in this business of giggin' fo' a livin'...........
Furthermore, an exchange might consist of something like this; " I'm able to play, instrumentally, the melody vocals on my guitar, with some backing, on-site recorded help from my looping pedal. The songs are gonna be a bit longer than usual but they will be recognizable, kinda like modern, contemporary, pop jazz."
Keepin' it real and on the up and up..........

Guitarpix,
My13 year old daughter, with her flappy Mammys permission,and against my wishes, has done the 3 color tone thing to her hair( pink, black, and white), along with a booger piercing( earing in the nose ). I made the mistake of insisting that she leave her beautiful hair alone and absolutely no piercing of the flesh other than her ears. I'm gonna keep my mouth shut from now on....
I went blonde when my first wife and I divorced. My girlfriend at the time( my final wife currently) and I shared a bottle of Clarion hair bleaching kit. I kept it on too long and picked scabs off of my skull for the next 3 weeks, but I gotta say it felt and looked pretty dern cool. I had a few punk kids call me "The Nature Boy Rick Flair". I didn't mind it too much because there ain't many people on the face of the earth hipper than ole Flair. Woooooooooooooooooohhhhh!!!! Anyways the ole sewer mouthed ex always hated blonde haired dudes so I figured what the heck!!!!! And of course I sported the infamous "mullet" back in the late 80's. Unfortunately, I have a scrapbook full of gig photos to document my tomfoolery. Like you Guitarpix, I too am bewildered at my lack of rational thinking!!!.......
My son and I are sportin' our fr3sh new 1/4" buzz cuts for the upcoming hot season today. It's nearin' 85 F today in sunny F L A. Here are a few hair styles that are somewhat more involved;

I recommend these strings for my beginner guitar students who say "regular" steel strings are too painful on their fingers. I'm understanding and empathetic to those under 10-12 years of age, any older I'll tell 'em to get used to the pain, you'll become numb to it eventually..........
Hi Nela,
I think you're familiar with my situation regarding my hand injuries. I had the great fortune of working with some fabulous occupaional therapists for a short while after my boating accident and subseqeuntial surgeries. They gave me stretching exercises to do that consist of interlocking the fingers on each hand and slowly twist and expand outward to get some blood flow to the achy areas. I stretch my hands almost every morning and pre-gig. It's painful as hail but feels much better when the session is over.
Another nice little trick consists of hot wax wraps. It pretty basic, all you need is a croc pot, cubed melting wax, and mineral oil. Here's how I do it;
-Heat the wax and oil to no more than 120-130 degrees F,
add a few ounces of the mineral oil.
-Slowly dip your hand into the wax, remove, allow excess wax to drip off, cover with surran(plastic) wrap,
then wrap with a dry towel. Leave it on for 30 minutes per hand.
-Remove the wax and place it back in the croc pot, yes you can recycle the wax.
I wouldn't recommend doing this too often( maybe 2-3 times weekly) because it seriously softens the skin and callous tissue on the fingertips. Good luck with your hand issues and most importantly pain is a warning sign from your body to your mind. If the pain continues or worsens do not delay in seeing a doctor.

Hey Toney, Just wondering if you get any of the March Break crowd down in your end of Florida?
Any one got any good stories to share from March Madness, I'm guessing there's a few. I've been to Florida once and that was thirty years ago and can't remember much(I wonder why ) All I remember is a 3 floor bar in Daytona Beach called Big Daddys and it rocked. I wonder if it's still there.
Kenny
Oh yeah Kenny. We're starting to get a huge influx of spring breakers down here. Saturday night, at Jimmy's Fish House and Iguana Bar on Clearwater Beach, a group of 12 or so from Philly placed a full bottle of beer on the ground directly in front of our stage. Each person took turns doing a "worship dance" around and/or over top of said bottle. It was similar to the old dance line on "Soul Train". I never look at the hot little chickys in their teensy bikinis either, they just happen to walk past where my eyes are pointed....................
and I'm not familiar with "Big Daddy's" in Daytona Beach but I do know that the "Pink Pony" is still kickin'!!!!!!
SouthPaw41L,
I know that I'll have a few disagreements, but here it goes:
I love the girl scouts, but I feel that they're being exploited to sell a pretty nasty, expensive cookie.
Nasty, expensive ? Girl scout cookies are the best cookies on the face of the earth! I think you're just jealous that you can't wear those cool little outfits and sell 'em yourself...........(heha)
Here you go selso;

Hi Lieven,
I called my friend from our local music shoppe and he gave me the suggested retail prices for the Paul Reed Smith acoustic guitars;
The Tonare Grand $7,460.00
The Angelus $5,250.00
Definitely not cheap guitars!!!!!

I made the mistake of buying several boxes of cookies from these hard working, polite young ladies. I bought my hottie wife a few boxes of thin mints, which she places in the freezer and makes 'em last several months, unless I find 'em after mine are all gone! I HAD a box of Lemon Chalet Cremes and a box of Samoas. I don't know what happened, I went to bed last night and when I awoke, BOTH boxes were empty! I'm pretty sure but not 100% positive that we were burglarized. Any of you folks had similar experiences with these boxes of culinary perfection ? Just curious, I'm thinkin' of filing a report............
Hey Gil,
How about some input from one or two, or more of these works;(your songs excluded)

Just curious what your thoughts are on some of the fine songwrtiters here on Chordie............

LOL WartHog99 - Ya got a point there, I'm hearing a tune from you, maybe the "Freezin' My Canook Off Blues". I'll be looking for it in the Songwriting section.
To all the others who gave me kudos - even though I blatantly stole it from another site, I'm glad ya got a laugh.
Jeff,
You're not stealin', you're simply borrowing temporarily........ All great musicians use this technique.... Hope all is grand with you up in W.VA caves and tunnels.
