I agree with Zurf and Amy--keep 'em coming!! There are some great story here from some terrific local artists in this group, I"m sure. I just went and saw my ukulele addiction "dealer"--HA! play in his ukulele jam band and saw an AMAZING guitarist!! If I get the umption, I'll post a link in the local bands thread--but it reminded me of how important it is to support local bands!!

Danke schoen for your well wishes, Bill--including future endeavors--I HOPE to be able to play some live open mic gigs in Germany when I go back this summer!! And I think I should start taking German lessons from you! My German friends tell me to please speak English--they can understand me better!!
I don't know if I can call this a funny gig story or not, but I ended up having the opportunity to sing in Essen, Germany when I visited there for the first time in February. A local guitarists was able to sign me up for an open mic night last minute so I spent 3 days cramming for 6 different cover songs (and 1 original song!) ranging from Taylor Swift to Foo Fighters. That night, my friend and I ended up getting lost and we walked for almost 45 minutes at 10:30 PM in the cold, February, German air (windy as all get-out!) to get to the "gig." To say the least, I was exhausted and my throat was *killing* me. I was so freakin' nervous but I went on and had A BLAST!! The up side was the house band ended up joining in on the last 3 songs and I ended up playing with a full backing band: acoustic guitar, lead electric, bass, keys, and drums!! It was FANTASTIC--and the place was packed--NOT because of me but because of the house band!! The opportunity of a lifetime for me--I drank it in!! (but I was EXHAUSTED--definitely felt my age that night!)

Yeah Russell, I know those shoes are ugly, but it's like Guy Clark says, "I can work in them all day, and dance all night." You know, if I danced. Plus, if you've been following my shoe sagas on Facebook, you'll know that I have a thing for shoes and ugly shoes in particular. I think I have more shoes than my wife has.
Well. I guess the black hat at night doesn't show so good. You'll just have to trust that I'm wearing a hat because the flash isn't reflecting off my chrome dome.

Your story sounds similar to mine as in i never played an instrument until much later in life, started 4/5 years ago on the ukulele. Had tried the guitar and still love my guitar but self taught and play it badly in comparison to ukulele which is much easier to play for me
Amazed at your original songs that you are already putting to music, wow, wow, watch this space! I have only written 2 of my own songs so far, so already you are leaps and bounds ahead of me ........ makes me want to try write another one

Hi Jandle!! hahaa, you are so FABULOUS for the encouragement and the personal story--I really appreciate that!! I love hearing of other people's testimonies and of course, add in a ukulele testimony and you *got* me!! I would love to hear your music--do you have it posted anywhere---even if it's audio!! I very much appreciate the follow along and encouragement to have a good time--that's what we're all doing together!!

I live in the New England area where the motto is: If you don't like the weather; wait 5 minutes... it'll change. So far, holding steady and cold at 31(ish) degrees Farenheit for some days, but I'm sure that'll change soon. We did get a mini-blizzard on the second day of spring.

The Ukulele seems to have got rather popular of late or more probably I just didn't take much notice of the instrument being a guitar man. LOL
Anyway I found your songs entertaining and worth developing. Being mostly an instrumental composer I find lyrics hard to do and always admire songwriters with the ability to literary find the words.

Hi Arkady the Guitar Man! Thank you for perusing them. I am definitely a light, fluffy, pop singer//song-writer. Nothing I do or say is meant with any great clever, depth, or wisdom--just more fun and light. I ALWAYS admire anyone who can make a backing track--that's where I very struggle!! It's like peanut butter and jelly -- only peanut butter and it sticks to the roof of your mouth---only jelly and it's a tad too sweet. haahaa--it's Friday here so I"m in my "not making much sense" mode. Completely agree!! Another stellar find!! The single guitar with the three voices is amazing. There's nothing like tearing family voices and harmonies together. And I also enjoyed that they kept the video production interesting but not distracting from the real stars!! Thank you!! I know life gets busy but you find such wonderful listens!! Greatly appreciate it!
