Happy Birthday Ken!!!!!!!!!! Sweet trailer. Hopefully it'll make it to the backyard gathering this year. We'll set ya up with a good spot away from the fire pit so as not to peel the paint. Ha ha

Congratulations. Nice find. Even if it doesn't play as good as it looks you can always throw a set of heavy strings on there and use it for a slide.

DE, Good to hear it went well. Sounds like you'll be at full strength in no time. Mine was done in 92. my kneecap came out in 38 pieces, it was completely wrecked.... 3 screws, plastic kneecap, fake cartilage, and some physical therapy and I was good as new. Now, the screws have been removed for about 15 years, and the fake cartilage is pretty well gone and the bones just kinda grind together. I should probably see about getting it patched up again, but it's way better than the meteorologists on the news.lol.

DE ,
Hope all goes good with your knee surgery. Been there done that, but mine was not  by choice .....well not my choice anyway. Lol they've come a long way with the procedures since then. I hope you have a speedy painless recovery.

It has been my experience with gc (at least our local one) that they are pretty much the wal Mart of guitars. Acoustics anyway. They have a lot to choose from, but never sound how you expect them to, and don't seem to be set up properly either. Both Amy's Martin and my Taylor were purchased at the same mom and pop guitar store. All the acoustics in their high end room are set up and ready to play. And the prices were better than gc too.

I like Amy's suggestion about a west coast gathering. I kinda miss the west coast. I think with advance notice we might be able to do it?

TF,
Have you looked into the k&k pur minis? We put them in Amy's Martin. They are awesome. Easy to install, and the sound of the guitar is clear and clean. They are around $100.

Thank you again everyone for your great comments. I am very happy with my new guitar. it is everything I have been looking for in an acoustic. Amy and I  are working on putting a gathering together. Amy mentioned salmon river, but there is a lot of other options for fishing, there are tons of other streams, rivers, ponds and lakes in this area. Fly fishing for trout, walleye fishing on oneida lake, smooth kayaking, or whitewater kayaking are also available. I myself do not like the crowded style of salmon fishing, so I also know some places for that that are more secluded. There are also A lot of historic sites in the area(including forts and battlesites DE). And of course Wayne and anyone else are more than welcome to play my guitar.

Thank you everybody. Nela, thanks for the offer of help but i'll have to pass. Amy's my biggest groupie and supporter already, and besides that I never would have got it if it wasn't for her, so I would probably have to worry more about the starch if I got rid of it.

Anyway, my new guitar is a Taylor 812e-12fret. It has a sitka spruce top with no pickguard and honeyburst finish, indian rosewood back and sides, slotted headstock with antique gold tuners, curly maple binding, and ebony fretboard. I actually found it when I was shopping for a birthday present for Amy. I played it and fell in love with the sound and play-ability of it. I told her about it when I got home and tried to find a picture of one online and only found one throughout the internet with that finish and options. Her reply was that I needed to buy it. I believe it was a custom order that somehow ended up in stock at the local shop, some of the options on this guitar don't appear available in stock anywhere.  I couldn't even find the options on Taylor's website.  I like the 12 fret because it has a more bluesy sound and plays easier than the 14 fret.  Due to the bridge being moved down on the soundboard, it doesn't have the Taylor ring found in the 14 fret model.

Amy will put a pic up soon, because I don't know how.  She tried to explain it to me, but I just want to play my guitar.  smile

I hear that the "proper etiquette" around these parts is to hop over to the chat corner and introduce myself, so here I am.  I've found a lot more time lately to play my guitar, and enjoy life with the family.  My lovely wife mekidsmom suggested many times over the years that this is THE PLACE to come for guitar advice along with good people and good fun.  So here I am.
