Always cool to hear CCR covers ^^

Thanks Jandle,

I send this video to a French known artist, Julien Doré, who's searching amateur people to play his first part, that's generous, I send this vid because I'm searching gigs big_smile.

Hi folks !

I covered someone you probably never heard about : Paul Vance.
I firstly discover his talented son, Liam Vance, on YouTube, when I heard « Call Me When You Want Me » I directly wanted to learn it. It’s the first song I entirely learned by ear.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-3T4MhK6cZc

You can find the original version on Spotify, search after Paul Vance, it’s on his album « The conforts of Home »

If you liked, please thumbs up and subscribe, this helps me to have more visibility on YouTube.
Thanks for watching !

I don't know those 5-4-1 stuff, already read about it... I won't be helpful.

So you want to do a medley?

EG : When I don't want a break between 2 songs I put a song ending with the G chord with a song starting with the G chord.

Nice cover Russell!
You nailed it ;-)

I don't like electro, or DJ's like David Guetta.
But this one is cool, it reminds me of video games music from the 90's.
You could do something longer, is it normal it suddenly stop at 1:04?

Hi,

Thanks!

Mmm weird, because I accepted the google translations ^^

USA is pretty good for my US family too. My parents want to leave Belgium too, the US is an opportunity (easy to move there, my mother can easily have her visa, even if the US citizen is abroad, there's no impact on Spouse visa, same for children under 21, but it's better to do it before 18, I won't explain all the details, you'll have an headache big_smile And there's exceptions, eg : people talked me about Puerto Ricains becoming US citizen in a snap, but Puerto Rico is a US State unincorporated).

I'm also thinking about living in Spain (before living in the US).
Except during tourism season, jobs opportunities aren't that good... They also have those tensions between regions who wants to secede from Spain,  it's not the best choice tongue

A friend I met during Spanish classes is actually working in Australia, there was an agency filing the documents for them (her husband, her baby and her), she'll come back next week... Apparently everything is fine. Everyone is leaving Belgium ahahah... A teacher I know is now in Switzerland, I have plenty of examples, all of them are good people ^^

Hi,

I'm back with new things :

Firstly, a new cover, The Losing End (one of my favorite Neil Young song, with Comes a Time smile )
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DwU1hziIt-w

I also want to talk about a Facebook page I created :
https://www.facebook.com/CurtisKrumm.Music/

On this page, I only write in french, because I'm Belgian (but half American and proud of my roots big_smile), but Facebook told me it's gonna be translated automatically.

I also created 2 WordPress sites (one in french, the other one in english, I'll share the english one for you) :
https://curtiskrumm.wordpress.com/

The thing is that I'm unemployed once again! I keep applying for jobs that match my skills, but in the same time I think I could earn few bucks with my music. Belgium, and Europe, in general have a big unemployment rate (while the US has +/- 5% of unemployment rate, it reaches 25% in my area, it's even worst among people under 30 years old...

For those wondering, I studied Logistics (succeeded the second year, couldn't do the last year because I failed accounting test during the first year, while I succeeded accounting test in the second year, crazy! Sometimes teachers let you pass the following year with a failed test during the previous year... The worst, in the 2nd year, I had my global percentage and succeeded every single lessons, according to the rules of that school, they can't block you like they did to me. Last time I checked my first year accounting results, they were plenty of V (for good answers), the teacher couldn't even tell me why she noted me so down...), I speak 3 languages fluently : French, English and recently Spanish (I'm doing my 4th years in a night school), I also speak a little bit dutch, 15 months of experience in an administration, but it seems it's never enough here... I've heard, in the US, people tend to hire based on skills, but here we tend to hire on experiences or diplomas, it's also important to know somebody working in the company where you apply... (I even apply for jobs without any high skill required, but it seems I don't have enough experience peeling potatoes... )

As I already mentioned, I'm waiting my visa to live in the US (it's not because my father is a US citizen that I automatically have the US citizenship, the prob is that my father lives outside the US for a long period, I'm over 21, so I have a different family visa, normally I could live in the US in 2021)

Well, I know it's not that easy, my first official date (in june) gonna be a free concert, but I guess I could survive thanks to music someday. My goal is not to be a superstar, I know there's more talented people, it's only to earn money and doing something I enjoy, I don't want to only apply and wait for a negative reply (or no replies at all).

how about doing some csom?
we could do with more contributions from performers like yourself.
it`s all very well putting songs on here, saying hey listen to me,but i think
you will find joining in  rewarding.

What does csom mean?
Playing with others and mix everything to do a track with vocals, guitar(s), bass, drums, ..., ?

Hi,

I wanna share this cover I made of "A Thing Called Love", I'm pretty sure you know the song, written by Jerry Reed, covered by Johnny Cash, Elvis Presley, Glen Campbell, Jimmy Dean, ...

I recently bought a microphone SHURE SM58, a Fishman Loudbox Artist and a Martin DX1ae because I'd like to play live big_smile
I'm really happy I can add this song to my setlist big_smile

I recorded everything with a ZOOM H1 in front of the amp smile
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=omd5zWu-BAM

Thanks!

Funny because I just bought a new guitar, an electro acoustic, because I'd like to play live (only did once), I bought a Martin (I always dreamed about having one), a Martin DX1 RAE, the best guitar I own so far... !

I play a lot with my Sigma acoustic, and I also have a Cort (117$) frets are wore out, I don't even know how I could sell it and I have 2 electric guitars, a Mexican Fender Stratocaster and a Ephiphone SG Emily the Strange.

I'm thinking about selling the Cort (even for only 10$) and I hesitate if I sell the Fender or the Epiphone... I almost never play electric, I only use them for solos or add something to a song...

Thanks everybody!

I know about Chesapeake, Norfolk, etc. I use to read the local news (eg : virginian pilot), I started my researches in 2013. ^^
I also pay attention about US politics and everything related to the USA. By the way, you can hear the same fact in Europe but completely transformed so it's completely different from the US medias.
So far, Va Beach is the location I like the most. I heard about flood in 2017, but it was locally and this kind of thing can happen everywhere.

I'm still in contact with my US family, most of them live in Columbus, OH. But it's obviously not a coastal city tongue
None of them visited VA beach.

I'll plan to visit some cities in 2018 or 2019. As I said, I think about this for a while, I really decided to move in 2013. (The visa waiting officialy started in 2014, I'm in the F1 category visa, "Unmarried son of US citizen over 21")

There's other countries, I once thought about Spain, but generally living in Europe isn't that good, it's not what I expect. I'm not surprised about the Brexit for example, by the way British use to think differently than Europeans. (which is a good thing in my opinion).

The US, and most of the American continents are Christians. While in Europe... No comment.

Actually 1Euro = 1.20USD, and it's almost never below 1, it can easily reach 1.40, so if you're moving you have x time more money.
Gazoline is minimum twice cheaper in USA, so driving a lot is less problematic.

When I worked, I met a guy, he asked me if I spoke English, after I answer all of his questions (I worked in a sport facilities) I asked him where he was from, I was maybe awkward because he told me "Ethiopia", so I told him, yeah but you sound American, and he told me "yeah I live there since I'm 18" (he's now 28), so after 15-20 minutes of discusions I invited him at my first gig and he came! (He's a US soldier, I add him on Facebook)
After that, I saw him several times, and I saw his wife.

I don't have this social things with belgians...

Hello guys!

This is crazy how cold it is in the US!?

I'm Belgian American, waiting my visa to live in the USA, I have a list of cities in mind, all of them are located in the South, according to sites the average temperatures are warmer than Belgium but actually it's colder than here, though it's really warm for the season 55° F in my city, but sometimes it snows in April  ahahah!
But the weather can change drastically, it can be 55° F today, and tomorrow 32° F lol

So what do you think about these cities to live in? Normally I'll receive my visa in 2020-2021.
Here's my top 3
1 Virginia Beach, VA (Reading the local news, etc, since 3-4 years to know the city)
2 Charleston, SC
3 Myrtle Beach, NC

I speak English, French, Spanish fluently and a little bit Dutch but I won't need it anymore. I worked in an administration (searching for a new job right now). There's few job offers in Belgium and there's a big competition because there's a high unemployment rate here.
I learned Spanish to have better chance getting a job, as you can see, I'm more looking into southern coastal cities. I've seen nice houses around 250k. And according to sites like job indeed, there's a lot of jobs that would suit me.

Sometimes I'm worry, but I guess it's normal, it's gonna be a change! I want it because I get enough of e-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n-g here :
1 No jobs

2 No security/Justice is lax and really slow

3 I don't feel Belgian... I always felt American, even if I never been outside Europe... Each time I talked with Americans it was different... Better!

4 Culture : I'm really American, well maybe has-been lol because I love the 70's
When people ask me what's your favorite band/actor/etc. they never know who/what I'm talking about and that's insane because they're really famous (Will Ferrell, nobody knows him even if i'm pretty sure they already saw one of his movies).
Musically it seems there's still a lot of country/folk/rock bands in the USA, from 7 to 77. Here  rock is almost dead, except maybe in Brussels and in the Flanders. But generally you'll hear Stromae, or DJ music... (things like Tomorrowland)

5 People from here use to tell me "yeah they have guns, it's violent, blablabla" but there's no real figures about crime in belgium compare to the USA. In Belgium they don't always classify the crimes in the same category so it's difficult to compare them years after years... In the US, the FBI is clear and there's also a lot of other sites like neighborhoodscout.

6 I really get enough of people saying things about the US without knowing a single thing about the US except California, New York, Washington, Las Vegas and Texas...

7 I know the US National Anthem while I don't know the Belgian one, but there's no patriotic feeling here and almost no idendity, everything is goin' on all directions.

8 I read (on a blog) that Americans are bad at driving, but here it's the jungle... I'm in the french speaking part of Belgium (Wallonia), roads are a disaster here (while it's pretty good in the dutch part, the Flanders).
There's a lot of potholes, even on highways and most drivers aren't polite...

9 The density... It's huge in Belgium. There's only 11 millions resident but for a tiny 11,787 sq mi. 370 people by sq mi.

10 The politics... There's always someone I like in the US, while here... We're not reaching the same goals.

11 When I was a kid Belgium wasn't bad... In the early 90's, but everything is different now.

Well well well, that's it. I'm not saying everything is better in the US, healthcare insurance are way higher than Belgium for example, but It's not enough for me to stay here.

I hope I didn't miss a particular law, or something that could disadvantage me, so far, USA seems better. (Tax, jobs, laws, justice, ...).
If you know something you think better in Europe tell me ^^
I hope I'm not just fooled by my American roots.

The guitar still sounds ok, the wearing out is not too deep, clearly noticeable on certain frets (mainly where are the thinest strings).

1 It happened I forget to leave my capo, but just 1 or 2 times...
2 My capo is in the middle of the frets.
3 Well it seems tight, but there's no way to loose it.

Here's a picture of my capo :

Thanks for the replies ^^

Frets wearing is clearly visible on frets : 2, 3, 4 and a little bit on 5th fret.
I just take my guitar to check it, I place my capo between the frets.

For a test, I gently did a slide with the thin E string on a perfect fret, after the slide, there's a significant scratch. Mmm, I know why after several days it's starting to wearing out.

It's the only acoustic guitar I have, and I play everyday with it... I bought it 350$...

Aaargh... Anyway, it was in my plan, in January I'm gonna buy a new guitar, an electro-acoustic to play concerts, I hope it's gonna be a guitar that will last. This shop owner is really nice (he invited me to play with his band live).

Yes I use a capo, quite often because I tuned my guitar one step down, so when I have to play a standard tuning I put the capo on the 2nd fret.
I never placed my fingers on the metal fret, the sound would be weird ^^
I placed them a bit before the fret. There's thousand of images showing people placing their fingers like me. Even professionals.

I also have an Epiphone Les Paul, frets doesn't shine like on my other guitars, but there's not even a single scratched. I play less with that guitar but I used to play quite a lot during a period. By the way, the fretboard is not "coated", it's not shiny at all and the fretboard doesn't slide as good as other guitar, but I don't really mind, I received it.

Tenement Funster :
Thanks for the informations!

How do I know?

(27 replies, posted in Guitars and accessories)

When I play, my fingers are a bit behind the fret, like on this picture
http://files.hubguitar.netdna-cdn.com// … G_8319.JPG

I also read old guitars had best quality frets...

I also think my fingerprints are pretty acid, when I touch a screen we can clearly see my fingerprint ^^

Thanks guys!

Hi guys!

My last acoustic guitar (bought approximatively 1 year ago) has his frets wearing out...
I had the same prob with another acoustic but I didn't repair it, because this guitar cost me 100$... And it appears after 2-3 years.

I only repaired my Fender Stratocaster, and I'm not too happy about the work, I don't work with this dealer anymore. (I bought this guitar like 10 years ago)

Actually, there's no major buzz problem... But I don't know how the hell I'm facing this problem so frequently. I play a lot (almost everyday), but I use to gently wipe the strings and neck with a soft cleaning cloth after I play with my guitar...
I also change my strings more often.

Do you also have this same prob?
If so what do you do?

Well if it seriously doesn't damaged the strings I won't bother, and try doing it.
It's just that I'm changing it for only one song and I do it every day.

Anyway it's true it's not a drastic change from E to D and vice versa.

Hi guys,

I use to play with the standard tuning (EADGBE), but as a Neil Young fans, there are some songs played in a DADGBD tuning (double drop d).

Is it a problem to often change the tuning? (Doing it once per day?)
Do the strings gonna break more often?

I was also wondering if there was a capo who was able to change the chords to DADGBD from a guitar tuned in DGCFAD (tuned down one step). Because my guitar is always tuned in DGCFAD, I really like to play "Ambulance Blues" and "Sit Down I Think I Love You" (this one is half step down)

Thanks!
