Hi Sharkfin
A few suggestions off the top of my head

Rocket Man Elton John. Life on Mars David Bowie, Venus and Mars Paul McCartney, To the Moon and Back Savage Garden, Spaceman Babylon Zoo, Walking on the Moon Police, Calling Occupants of Interplanetary Craft The Carpenters

Is that enough?  But there must be lots more.

Hi Helena

I read this some time ago but I didn't make comment at the time because it struck home all too clearly with me.  It's so well written and obviously everyone will have their individual reading of it.  I am not ashamed to admit that I cried a little when I thought about the possible meaning because in my case it was like reading a commentary of my own life and the lines

"cycle of never achieving
Like a bent spoke in a wheel
Clackety beyond repair"

had me thinking about my own life - redundant at 52 and the endless job searching.  I have no regrets about my life as I have 3 fine sons to prove I didn't do everything wrong.  One thing that your words did was to make me think about what I am waiting for and I didn't have an answer so I guess the waiting is over.  As my eldest son said, "You might be old but you're not dead yet.

Thankyou

Ian

Thanks for the views and the comments.  I have been taking a little gurther advice on recording and have another 5 songs lined up to record.  They will be a better quality recording next time.  At the moment though these will have to go on the backburner for a little while as I am working on a song for my 4 month old grand daughter Amelia Rose to let her know how much she has touched me (when she's old enough to understand of course).  I have the melody, one verse and a chorus but I'm struggling with the rest.

Thanks again

Hi Buzz

I know it's not what you asked but do you know Keith's autobiography is out now.  I'm looking to order it this week it's called Life.  Should be an interesting read since Jagger has said it is "bitchy" and Amazon have it half price at the moment.

Hi guys

Thanks for the suggestions.  I already have .010 strings on my guitar.  You have a point though.  I was a bit fed up of the kid next door cranking out thrash metal after midnight last night so I got out my strat that hasn't seen the light for 3 years with the intention of winding my amp up and getting my own back.  When I started playing I realised how much lighter the action is on it compared to my acoustic so I thought why not and started playing the song on electric.  Sounds OK and the barres were manageable.  Zurf I couldn't get it to sound just right with the power chords but I suppose it's a good reason to let the strat out of the bag (Oh!!! not funny) every now and again at least until I master the acoustic barres or die in the attempt.

Cheers guys

Hi all

I have been trying for a while now to record this with very poor equipment and probably the worst cold I have ever had.  I have given up waiting for the cold to improve (I've had it for 3 weeks now) and I have simply done the best I can with what I have.  The voice is real croaky and I had to put my capo at fret 2 to try and find a key I could nearly hit.  The poor quality of the video itself is no bad thing - it saves you all from having to look at the face while listening.  I hope the poor quality doesn't detract too much and I promise my voice isn't always thus bad.

Being an impetuous kind of guy (you know the one who thinks instructions are for the use of idiots) I just uploaded the webcam output and didn't consider the required format so the song was cut very short.  Have removed it and working on conversion.  Will post new link when complete.

Ian

Hi all

These guys are brilliant as they have made it compatible with older processors (like mine) and now and it works brilliantly.  I have asked Matthias to consider an installation instruction video for Windows as the one shown above is for Mac.

Hi all

Almost threw my guitar in frustration today.  I am trying really hard to learn to play barre chords so that they are clear mainly because I want to learn one song in particular - Saltwater by Julian Lennon which has a quick progression of C#m B A Abm Gm F#m in the chorus.  Problem is due to an old rugby injury in which broke the scaphoid bone in my fretting hand I have a lot of pain between my forefinger and thumb when forming a barre chord.  The reason for my frustration is that the rest of the song is very easy to play and I know that if I could manage it the progression itself is essentially straightforward.  Does any one have any suggestions to help me play this wonderful song?

Ian

Hi all

I'd just like to thank Matthias and his colleague Chris for their speedy responses to and diagnosis of my problems with the plugin.  If it works as well as advertised I am looking forward to the revised version so that I can use it.

Hi PerryB

Not sure if this is the place for IT assistance but you would need software to save a printable document on your computer into PDF format such as Adobe Acrobat (expensive) or CutePDF (free).  If you simply want to view Chordie on your I-Pad try this post http://www.chordie.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=15411

I don't understand why 2 perfectly good touchdowns were disallowed they seemed OK to me.  And I beg to differ on Jeff Beck's effort.  He is so much better than that.  He looked like he had turned up for the pay day and wasn't really bothered about how he sounded.  Even the commentator said he should have stuck to Hi Ho Silver Lining.

Ian

Hi tausend have tried this with Audacity and when the Chordino plugin completes it continually causes Audacity to crash with an error.

Being a Brit I don't really understand american football but I have just sat down in front of the TV with a coffee to watch the Bronco's vs 49er's at Wembley Stadium.  At the start what happens?  Michelle Wiiliams sings Star Spangled Banner and then Guitar god Jeff Beck makes a total pratt out of himself playing the UK national anthem like a chimp with webbed fingers.  Maybe he should have given Michelle the guitar and chanced she would make a better job.  I hope the game is better.

Hi ttunez welcome to Chordie

I found a suggestion on tabs heaven that the chords for the instrunemtal should have been (Cmaj7] [Fmaj7] [Bbmaj7] [Am7] [Bbmaj7] [Fmaj7] [Dm7] [E7sus4] [E7]) in the original key.  Don't know if this helps - obviously you will need to transpose these.

Hi again

My 8 year old meice told me this one

I thought I would take my pet snail and remove his shell to see if he could move any faster.  Truth is he now seems a little sluggish.

Hi vanwink

There is definitely a song called "Wait a Little While" by Kenny Loggins.  I have done a quick search but can only find the lyrics.  If you can link to a video of the song somebody may be able to help you with the chords.

Ian

Hi BajaMuleDiva

I had a look at the videos and quite liked some of the stuff there.  Unfortunately I could not find either of the songs you are looking for.  Perhaps you could post a link to those songs if you know where to find them.

Hi

I've investigated a bit more and it seems Shady Grove is a traditional tune and that is what is used in the song Pretty Little Miss.  There is a version here http://www.chordie.com/chord.pere/www.r … -grove-crd by Ricky Skaggs or here
http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/tabs/t/t … ve_crd.htm with different chord options.
If you wish to search on youtube there is a lesson there on how to play the tune in flatpicking style.
