A short time ago someone posted and included i think, three different links to sites for finding chords. I remember thinking one may help me with soloing because it showed all the notes in each chord you looked up and their positions on the neck. Anybody see this?     thanks b

I forgot to mention that i can't remember where i saw it and, would like to see it again.

JJJ you indicated some tough things going on in your life right now, thats a big problem for people but, make sure you don't have Sleep Apnea also, I did, and a visit to my doctor who ordered a sleep study proved that. I now use a Cpap machine at night and have very good sleeping results.
Good luck to you man, get help somewhere.    b

Hi folks, been away for awhile, well, not away but haven't posted for a long while, all music is good, some a lot better then others.
The music and Artist mentioned by Zurf, tyson7 and bensonp and, I would have to include Waylon Jennings are what comes out of my Guiters, well at times is recognizable.    b

So the recording is happening (you can hear it through regular speakers), but you aren't getting any playback through the Alesis?

Is that a correct summation?  If so, that is actually a pretty good problem to have, as it means *most* of your stuff is working right.  smile

Yep, that is/was correct Jerome. See above post and Thanks again.    b

Go to "Control Panel->Sound" and then make sure USB codec is selected for both recording and playback.

Keep at it Pete!  It will all come together....

I have done that Jerome, set both to usb audio codec. " Alesis has page of audio setup"
Both record and playback have indicators that flash green when i speak or breath into the Mic but I get 0 sound from playback.

I have a couple vids in my pictures file and when i change back to speakers and play them from my pics file the sound is great.

Thanks to both Pete and Jerome I understand a little more about the mixer and the recording process however, not enough, because after following all instructions it just does not work. I tried both not using Audacity and using Audacity. When not using the DAW I just recorded to the sound recorder and saved to windows media player, and then tried playback. i feel that my computer is not getting the sound, i will work it out somehow. I hope, thanks a bunch guys any other Ideas let me know please.      b

I decided to upgrade to a new USB mixer with effects.

I am having trouble getting it to work, however.  I have followed all the steps to no avail.  It came with Cubase, which I am also having trouble setting up correctly and registering.  Actually it is a registration problem.  My question is, do I need Cubase for my computer to recognize the new mixer?  I didn't need any external apps for my older Alesis.  I get power and phantom power but no LEDs light up when I am talking to the mics. So it appears my computer is not recognizing the new mixer.  Even though it says I don't need a driver, do I nee a driver.  There are some available, which I cannot find now.  Any help?  Jerome?

Pete, you may remember i got the same mixer you now have, got the same MXL set you have, because i really liked the sound of your recordings. Hooked everything up and yep, did not and still does not work. I was so disappointed that i just quit, closed the door and said I'm done. Did not play for a few days but would lurk here and other places for answers.

Now after reading your post and Jeromes answer i may try again in a couple days, like you, something like this drives me nuts and, i really wanted to put up some videos.      b.    Wish i had a Jerome in my area.

Thanks a lot for the help guys, Rodger you understood my post correctly, i did think i should get sound! that is the information i needed. I have since down loaded and installed Audacity, now, if i can figure out  how to use it i think i will be allright. The mic does not have a switch Pete but, when i saw your post i had to look. Jerome your post was very helpful also, I'm just going to record for now, and if i decide to have live sound i will use one of my dynamic mics into my mixer. I hope someday to be able to help others as you guys are helping me, it is very very much appreciated.     b

Thanks Russell and Pete, i have been through the volume mixer settings  for playback and record, before posting the question. I purchased a Behringer c-1u usb condenser mic along with other equipment in hopes of making a music vidio. Installed the mic just as manual instructed, have green light but no sound. I set playback and recording tabs as indicated. Should i expect sound from my laptop speakers, running windows seven after plugging into a usb port and doing above.
I know dumb questions are not always popular but, I sure would like to solve this. Thanks guy's    b

Dino, sorry about that but, I'm glad I'm not the only one.

Pete, I like your sound a lot so I tried to follow along with what you were doing. Also, it seems that our taste in old country, Folk and soft rock is pretty much the same.   We will never catch Wayne anyway. lol    b

Well Folks, I am anxously awaiting  delivery of equipment I ordered yesterday. Ordered an Alesis multimix 8usb mixer, a Behringer Condenser mic and a Logitech Webcam.  After a singing and Playing party the other night, Alcohol was envolved, I was encourgaged to put some Vidios up on u-tube.

Bear in mind the fact that i know just enough to get my Guitar out of the case, I've followed the many post about recordings for some time and, i hope I've made the right choices to get started. I am really Dumb with Computers and electrics. Having said that I will try to get somthing up but, I may need to ask for help.  Thanks in advance LOL.    b

All the folks that sang or sings, the real stuff, Guy Clark, Willie, Waylon, Cash, George Jones, Kristofferson, John Prine, Jamey Johnson and, many more, nothing wrong with modern Country, just not my cup of tea.    b
