Yeah hearing Nirvana is what got me wanting to play.
Probably just the way Kurt played, the rawness of it. It was so real.
I wanted to play guitar so bad but I kept it a secret. lol.
Then I just found a guitar in my Dad's garage and the first thing I taught myself was the intro to Come as You Are.
Almost a year later and I'm still learning Nirvana. Aneurysm is the latest.

I don't know if you've done this but it helped me when I was in a situation like yours: I started just figuring out the songs by ear, first with open chords on Syd Barrett, and now I'm onto power chords with stuff like Nirvana. You end up "getting to know your guitar" better. It opens up new doors.

Also start learning barre chords

Seriously, even if you don't dig Hendrix, how can you say he's not good? He was awesome! and besides, his playing has influenced so many guitarists, and the guitarists influenced by him have influenced even more guitarists.
Music would not be what it is today if Jimi hadn't existed.

Well on an episode of the Partidge Family they play for prisoners...lol.

I thought tat limewire was a music downloading thing...I have pandora and you create and use radio stations.

I suggest not buying some cheap China-made guitar..sure they are inexpensive but the guitar is really a waste of money. This, I guess, is more of a warning than a suggestion.

hey i found my guitar in late august of last year...and i am starting to learn bar chords now, too.

See Emily Play by Pink Floyd...first time I listened to that was at age 4 and I was mesmerized.
I heard it off my Dad's Relics album, which I called "the faces record" lol

Nirvana's cover of "Here She Comes Now" by The Velvet Underground. It's so awesome...but so is the original

Well, they are both great, and both have had impacts on music, people, and culture.
But they are completely different styles of music.

Personally, I love The Beatles.

Why I don't like the Jonas Brothers:

1.) They don't really play music that well.

2.) Their singing is horrible, especially on live TV.

3.) Their lyrics are so boring, so on-the-surface it's as if Disney is writing the lyrics for them, which I wouldn't doubt.

And, not that this effects their music, but, they aren't very good-looking...at all. And all these annoying Hannah Montana-loving,Highschool musical-watching,Aeropostale and Hollister and American Eagle and Abercrombie wearing annoying girls are Obsessed with them and their "good looks".

Honestly, I dont understand what the big deal about them is.

And I absolutely HATE when they are compared to The Beatles....please, one group had talent and creativity, the other is  totally commercialized and lacking any true talent.

Maybe, hopefully, one day they will get out of the whole Disney thing, write some real lyrics and music.

If you do like the Jonas Brothers, I'm sorry if I offended you.

Yes I love Nirvana! not many people my age do

Yeah...nobody around here likes the same kinds of music i like, and if they do, they either can't play an instrument  or they don't want to join a band.

Let me know if you get a band started!

It's really too bad you live so far away.
