usually in a hilly old growth hardwoods. in the spring before the trees leaf out. If you can find some "trilliums" -a wild flower with three white pedals -  your in  a probable area. Also in a poplar regrowth around old stumps from a logging operation. A warm humid night will trigger their growth or lots of sunshine after a good rain.. GOOD LUCK  smile  WARNING !! you should have someone who is familiar with the picking of these show you because there are lots of poisonous ones out there!!
Please, Do Not take this Warning lightly!!

I'm not much on these computers but, is it possible that one person could have went to all of the above links and that that person has a virus or problem on their computer? I have no idea if that's even possible, but if so can we find out who and let him/her know?

Welcome Greg!
If the pitch is weird "especially on the smaller strings". Maybe the capo is tighter on the smaller strings than the large ones. If the capo radius isn't close to the fret board radius, it can cause some difficulty in achieving equal tension on all the strings. It's Just one more possibility. smile
And I agree with you nela-- one of my buds named his puppy dog "capo" , great name for a dog!!

I use a  "SHUBB" capo.  There's several good capo's out there. One thing a person might want to consider is that the radius on the fret board  is different from one guitar to another.  The shubb is available in a "straight, slightly curved & a bit more curved" . If the radius on the fret board is say a 16" as on some Gibsons and you use a straight capo. You can't get even tension on all the strings. This example, if the 1st,2nd,5th &6th strings are "just right, the 3rd & 4th could be slightly sharp do to the mismatch of the radius. Also the shubb has a couple different lengths for varying  fret board widths.  Just more things to think about in this love of music.  smile

as far as I know their tuned gdae" low to high" I'm sure some songs will have a different  tunin, just to throw ya off. I know a couple fiddlers who switch from country to bluegrass to cajun never change tuning and never look back. Look for a name or date or number inside your fiddle, sometimes they will be on the underside of the top, if ya find one, google it. don't know what else to tell ya except  "love them fiddles"

actually there is and that sounds like a great idea I have a small one its rectangular but high enough to put a aluminum pan and some extra goodies

I would not recommend an aluminum pan. A thick walled aluminum pot with thick lid would work. What works best is a cast iron dutch oven . Put ingredients in dutch oven leave lid off for first 1/3 of cooking time "but do have the charcoal burner lid closed". Then place dutch oven lid on dutch oven and several pieces of charcoal on lid and close charcoal burner for remainder of time. Experiment with things like mesquite charcoal or apple wood shavings during the first 1/3 cooking time for enhanced flavors. Enhanced flavoring not applicable for conventional oven. sad

I'll bring the beer, big_smile when do we eat?      just joking smile

Well I dont have an oven I live in a efficiancy apt

hey russ, is there room, on a porch or something, for one of those three legged charcoal grills with the big dome shaped lid? If so,I think a better tasting meat loaf could be made in one of these than in a conventional oven. Not to mention the potato & bean baking while the meats a loafing. big_smile

while mama splits the wood!!  big_smile

    Mine!!

Over last weekend I was out back having a cold one ,watching the fire and picking a little. I decided the fire needed more wood. Set my guitar down with the neck leaned nicely against the bench. Tend the fire and sit back down???  NO PICK!!! I looked all over the bench? GONE. So, I go in the house, get a fresh one. and another pick while I'm there. Sit back down on the bench , pick up the the guitar and as the shadow from the guitar neck leaves the bench, yup right where I put it, next to a fresh one.  Which only goes to prove, when you can't find your pick---- Get another beer big_smile

I wrote this some time ago, but I thought I'd post it anyway. I'm trying to figure out just how to get a recording available for it. Thanks to the recording section here, I know how to get it on my computer, still working on the next step. Also I see I wasn't able to get the chords to go on top of the words, oh well.
